Not saying this is ideal but if they go for it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Maybe you should inform yourself on the lineups of other teams before making condescending comments on teams that you are ignorant about.
McMichael isn't a top 6C and isn't beating Lowry out at 3C. That makes him a winger in Winnipeg and unneeded.
If you want to contribute positively to the discussion educate yourself on the team and player you are talking about.</div></div>
Oh I want to be in on this. So the young Center that was the middle man for Ovi for majority of the season is not a better option when compared to Lowry. Hot Take.
Is McM values equal to Ehlers, probably not.
Will it be equal at some point in the near future, maybe. McM is promising and definitely has a chance to maintain a top 6 center role.
How much do you truly know about McM? Would you rather have Lapierre? Let me know your thought process.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SMH</b></div><div>This is the dumbest thing I've heard today, moving back a year for a 5th is great assets management for the caps</div></div>
I think they would be looking to lock the Bruins into trading the Capitals a piece that helps them more with whichever direction the Management is pushing. I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted signing rights for DeBrusk along with the 5th.
Granted DeBrusk may not sign with them but it would give them a chance to talk to him before free agency.

True, but also the big thing he jake would not want to play in Washington.
More likely he goes to a team that will give him 8 years but also be in the race almost every season

The thing you don't understand is that the Capitals would hold you hostage for that 2nd back. You would have to give up better assets to get the capitals to hand you the second for an offer sheet

Its closer if its a 1 for 1. Adding Morrow would be stupid on the Canes part.

Latest Info
The Hurricanes don't really need a goaltender at the moment with Kotch being the future starter and Andersen there for one more year. I could see it if you swapped Silovs for like Podz or someone.
More likely they look at Rossi or someone else like that.
They want star power

Capitals need the draft capital going forward. We need as many 1st, 2nds and 3rds as possible in the near future to try and restock our prospect pool.
This would be a poor idea. If we want to target someone in a trade we need to target someone that is under 25

I think this year is deeper for defenseman.
But I would also say Celebrini is on the same level as Fantilli and Carlson. But I think Michkov is on his own tier between Bedard and the others

Shesty is great and all, but he is reported requesting far too much money for a goaltender. I could see him signing around 9 to 10 (Bob level)

Interesting but I do not think the Devils accept that.
1) The Devils are set on top 6 centers.
2) Thats a lot to pay for a goaltender that struggled more last season after breaking out.

(2023 was very strong year, especially at top…2024 is thin at top…but comparable for dmen).</div></div>
You have Dvorsky over Leonard in this? I cannot see that being true what-so-ever. Dvorsky struggled againist men but was great against his peers. Made me worry about his ability to step up to the next level

If the Caps draft went this way and they nabbed Protas with the next pick I would be thrilled. (I know these are rankings and not a mock, but I am just saying if it played out to the rankings)

Caps trade is fine.
Although I would certainly be interested in a Boucher trade for TVR if the Sens wanted to give it a shot.
I feel like he was a massive reach but still could potentially have a bottom line position in NHL with his play

Landy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Puckhound</b></div><div>That's the plan... I'm pretty torn as an Avs fan. On one hand Landy has been an incredible player and leader for us, but it's very hard to see a scenario where we returns to the same level after 2 full seasons away. I think it's fairly likely still he never plays a meaningful amount of games for the avs again and his cap hit continues to handcuff us.
The Landeskog and Nichuskin situations have drastically hurt our window the past two years and will hang over the team all offseason probably.</div></div>
I cannot imagine how his game will have changed. Thats a massive contract to have such an uncertainty.

See I think Knight is a lot better than people make him out to be. He played in the NHL as a teenager of course he is going to have some growing pains because he was never able to fully develop before being tossed in the lions den.
I think this year in the AHL probably really helped him and now he is ready for another push

Isn't your defensive game and goaltending your biggest issues? You get young goaltender that can grow with your core who is more than capable of playing in the NHL along with a top 15 RHD in the league with a great young forward.
What is it lacking?

They might trade him, you never know. But the Caps are certainly not the team to be talking to about it. We are in the market to rebuild not buy
