Not a chance Boston trades Lohrei. He's one of the few d-men that Boston has that's shown any offensive ability. That's something that that are significantly lacking.

I can't see NJD giving up a top 10 pick for Ullmark even with an extension. I'd be ecstatic if they would, but I can't see it happening. NJD would need to feel like Ullmark is the missing piece and that they'd be a serious cup contender for the next 3-5 years.

Not sure I understand this for Boston. They downgrade in net, only save $1.4 million in cap space. Olausson is a decent prospects, but IDK if he's a guy that cracks Boston's roster next season.

Goalie trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>And they have been working on a contract for five months with no progress.
Last summer, Swayman’s wanted $4.8m. Bruins offered $2m and were suggested using mid-tier back-ups as comps (and publicly disputed Hart, Oettinger, Hart as comparable players).
Before the season, Swayman said about the arbitration,
<em>“I definitely don't wish it upon any of my friends and teammates moving forward, and I don't want to do it ever again as well.”</em>
After the process he also added why he stayed in Boston
<em>"I stuck around Boston this summer because I knew I was going to get the best training, the best coaching and the best atmosphere.”</em>
After the extension window opened, Swayman’s agent spent a couple days in Boston working on the deal. After no progress was made, Swayman commented after his all-star game appointment,
<em>“After dealing with what I did this summer with arbitration, hearing things that a player should never hear, it feels pretty special to be in this situation.”</em>
The timing, a week after his agent was in Boston for extension talks, caused a stir. He clarified a few days later
<em>“I think it was a great learning experience. I’m not gonna lean on it. It’s already happened — what’s happened has happened” </em>
But then corrected…
<em>“I wouldn’t be the player I am if I didn’t go through it. So I’m grateful for everything that’s come my way and I’m excited for what’s to come. I’m allowed to lean on my experience when things happen and that’s what I did.”</em>
It’s not 100%</div></div>
You've been clinging to these arb quotes since last year. You've also been hammering this "they've been working on an extension for 5 months" thing too. You think Sweeney & Swayman's agent are negotiating everyday for the past 5 months? no. They met and got a sense of what both sides were looking for in the next deal. They let the rest of the season play out as not to be a distraction for Swayman. Swayman himself has said he's confident that Sweeney & his agent will hammer out a deal this summer. BTW one quote you seem to leave out from Swayman about arbitration....
<em>“Again, it's a business, and I wanted to make sure whatever was thrown my way, I was going to be able to attack with a good mindset and make sure at the end of the day I was going to do everything I could do to be a Boston Bruin.</em>
If push comes to shove and Sweeney needs to decide between Ullmark and Swayman, he's 100% going to pick Swayman and everything points to that.

Hopeful Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>Maybe, it's a situational thing though. If Debrusk tells Sweeney he wants to go to EDM and wont be re-signing with BOS (don't know how likely that is) and our GM reaches out for an extra year I'm fairly confident Sweeney would take a 7th as it at least gets him something. If it needs to be a 6th then sure but moving higher in those rounds gets us closer to just giving him a 7 year contract, can't imagine a 4th would ever get near being on the table.</div></div>
If I'm Sweeney why am I helping out another team get a lower cap hit by getting an extra year on one of my (former) guys for pick that has almost no value? The Oilers have $9.8 million in cap space with only 14 guys counting against the cap. To make DeBrusk work, EDM likely needs that extra year to help get his cap hit down unless DeBrusk wants to take a cheap deal. If what's standing between EDM & DeBrusk getting what they want is Boston trading his rights, then Sweeney as the control.
Can DeBrusk walk and still sign with EDM? Sure, but either EDM will need to use more cap space to sign him to 7 years or DeBrusk will need to take less on 7 years.

Goalie trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I think it was from his end of season media availability…no? was there a separate interview?
The “landing spot” wasn’t really the interesting part to me. It was the other comment. All signs point to both guys returning. <strong>But the part I think is off is the idea that if one goalie moves, it’s 100% Ullmark and 0% Swayman</strong>…which is hard to say until Swayman is actually extended. I think more like 75/25 or 80/20 (if one moves).
Overall, maybe something like
60% Both return
30% Just Swayman returns
10% Just Ullmark returns
<0.1% Neither return
(For 2024-25)</div></div>
Again, the Bruins already tried to trade Ullmark at the TDL and he blocked the trade. Boston was ready to move on from Ullmark this past season. The only way Swayman is moved is if he's asking for an outrageously high contract that hinders the team from icing a competitive team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>He never said he is 100% keeping Swayman. He said
“We’re gonna find a landing spot with Swayman” (one would assume in Boston…but the landing spot could always be elsewhere)
If they can fit both, they will, but, he said, “If we can’t, we’re going to explore options….In a perfect world, we would keep the tandem because I think it’s damn good. But we’re going to explore opportunities. My phone’s going to ring, I’m going to make calls. That’s just what the job requires.”
I read it as “all options are in the table”</div></div>
Yes landing spot as in a contract. Boston has what they're want to sign him for and Swayman has what he's looking for. They'll find a "landing spot" between the two sides.
This was from an interview that Sweeney did about a week ago:
<em>“We clearly engaged in conversation during regular season to define the longer term extension, we haven’t gotten there yet, it’s a priority now and it will continue to be a priority until we get that across the finish line,” Sweeney revealed. “He’s a big part of our current team and our record in playoffs and our future.</em>
The Bruins are starting to gear towards the next core. Marchand has one year left and could very well retire. The Bruins are now building around guys like McAvoy, Pastrnka, Zacha & Carlo. Swayman is the goalie that fits age wise with that core and a guy that has a long future a head of him. Ullmark is soon to be 31yrs old and isn't a long-term fit for the Bruins upcoming core's window.

A 7th is basically nothing seeing as the odds of a 7th rounder playing at least 100 games in the NHL are roughly 10%. There were 924 skaters in the NHL this year.....28 of them were selected in the 7th round, which means only 3% of players in the NHL this year were selected in the 7th round. Now I'm not saying that EDM needs to give Boston a 1st rounder or anything, but a 7th is just useless. 4th/5th rounder for DeBrusk rights and Boston is likely on board.

He's 25yrs old, so he's going into his prime. I don't see a huge jump in production coming from him, but at his peak I could see him being a 25/25 guy.

Yes the "making the math work" is in reference to wanting to carry both goaltenders next year. If they can't keep both guys on the roster than Linus will be moved out. Linus (as Sweeney said) may also go to management and say he wants to be moved. The Bruins already tried to trade Ullmark at the TDL and he invoked his NTC. That alone tells you Boston was ready at the TDL to commit 100% to Swayman as their guy

<em>“We’re going to find a landing spot with Jeremy Swayman,” Sweeney said. “If we can make the math work, we’re going to have the best tandem. If we can’t, we’re going to explore. And/or Linus may come to us and change his mind.</em>
<strong>Swayman:
</strong>
<em>Asked if he is looking to sign long term in Boston, Swayman said, "I am."
"I'm confident that my agent and I and management will figure out the details this summer," he said. "I'm looking forward to it."
"I couldn't be more grateful to have a city and a home base that's as supportive as Boston," Swayman said postgame when asked about the chant. "They mean so much more than just fans to me. It's truly a home for me now, and to hear that was above and beyond. I'm just so grateful for all the love and support."</em>
Swayman isn't going anywhere. The plan is to commit to Swayman long term and if money is needed for the rest of the roster, Ullmark will be moved.

Don't see the value for Boston. Bjugstad had a career year at 31yrs old and will be a UFA after the season. Geekie is 25yrs old and has seen his production increase year over year. Geekie had 6 less points than Bjugstad, makes $100k less and is an RFA when his contract expires.

But there is something to be said for staying cap flexible next year when some more impact 1C's are scheduled to be FA's.</div></div>
No it doesn't. It just means Bussi would need to clear waivers and he likely would. For someone to thinking about claiming him, he'd basically need to come into camp and look like a legit #1 NHL goalie. By the time he'd be on waivers, teams already have their goaltending in place and unless of an injury, they aren't looking to add goaltending. Not only that, but Bussi has ZERO NHL games under his belt so why would a team claim him knowing he needs to stay on the NHL roster all season?

Yes I think there's a team out there that would go $6.5 on DeBrusk. The FWD group of FA isn't exactly amazing this year. DeBrusk could easily be a guy team overpay after missing out on a top FA forward like Reinhart of Guentzel.

$500k to $1 million short on Lindholm and DeBrusk. I wouldn't keep Heinen around for $2.5 million to play on the 4th line. Money could be better spent elsewhere. Why only go 7yrs on Swayman? Why not go 8yrs since you have the ability to?

TBL gave Vas a long term deal and it seemed to workout pretty well for them. I don't think FLA would complain with Bob on a long-term deal, nor would WPG w/ Hellebuyck. Bruins gave Rask a long-term deal and I think it turned out pretty well. It all depends on when you give a goalie his long-term deal. If you're giving a 7/8 year deal to a 30yr old goalie, then ya its pretty much doomed. Giving a proven 25yr old goalie a long-term deal doesn't carry nearly the same level of risk/concern.
