offseason moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Heh. Now do it per 60 instead of by games, which we both know is misleading because Kessel played five minutes per game less.
IIRC Kessel's D zone giveaways per 60 was around 1.3-1.4 and Faulk's was around .9 per 60. And half of Kessel's minutes were 3rd pairing. And he carries the puck way less than even a partially hobbled Faulk. He was easily the worst puck handling Blues D last season.</div></div>
like I said, one is a rookie and the other is a 32 yr old overpaid vet. Kessel took his spot by the end of the year and Krug looked decent playing next to Kessel over Faulk. Being a defenseman includes a lot more than just moving the puck and points. Faulk is terrible by every defensive metric.

offseason moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>I didn't say he played hurt all year. I said most. Which is accurate, as he first picked up a knock around Thanksgiving, maybe just after. And saying he's had only one good season in STL is not true, while we're at it.
Dude, Kessel was the worst turnover machine of all Blues D who played this season. By a good margin. Well beyond Krug and Schenn, who were a bit past Faulk. And he barely touches the puck compared to Faulk. The numbers make this very clear, plus he offered next nothing offensively.
You can prefer Kessel all day everyday, and that's fine. But if you want to bash someone for horrific puck play, that person needs to be Kessel. Not sure how anyone could have missed it, to be frank.</div></div>
Faulk had 35 giveaways in 60 games (30 in the defensive zone) and Kessel had 19 in 39 games played (15 in the defensive zone). One was a rookie and Kessel played 2nd pair over Faulk at the end of the year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Heh. It's astonishing that so many people say this. Faulk played hurt most of the season. Kessel simply isn't that good. At least not yet. About any numbers you wanna go to demonstrate that. He was the worst puck handling Dman we played last season by a considerable margin and our system requires puck possession.
Faulk is probably the top bounceback shot we have, especially if we can get him away from Krug. Maybe Schenn of we can slide him over (and he gets some contacts or something). But I'd bet on Faulk to rally first.</div></div>
Faulk was healthy the entire first half of the year, idk where everyone gets that he played hurt all year. He was terrible when healthy and was terrible last year too. Defensively he is a turnover machine and just isn't good. He had one decent year and grew a mustache and everyone fell in love with him. Kessel passed him on the depth chart and he is still developing

sounds like a rossi trade is gonna happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Huh? Their prospect pool is starting to get real shallow, man. There's literally like five Devils fans on here eagerly running multiple trade down ideas with the Blues. I've even seen some local Devils writers talking about trading down.
Edit: While I was typing this, yet another Devils fan AGM went up with a Blues trade down. There has been like 6-7 of these already just this morning. And it's been like that for a couple weeks.</div></div>
it just makes zero sense to me for the Devils to move down for futures. All their young players are in the NHL now so they should be pushing for players that help now

the only pieces the Blues have that NJ would want in a trade is Buchnevich and Binnington imo. The shouldn't want futures

Not that that helps the Blues, of course. 🤷♂️</div></div>
That makes sense though, additional picks which is all I would want to give NJ to move up doesn't do them much good. Plus the defenseman I would want for the Blues would most likely be gone by 10

To use this 1st on a redundancy would tick me off. We're gonna tell Dvorsky he has every chance to make the team and then we ignore our one dire need to go get another C? As super as it would be to have Rossi, I'm not interested in straying from the plan.</div></div>
They don't have the assets to move up unless you want to trade young forwards. Only defenseman that is interesting that should be available around 16 is Jiricek (I am all for picking him btw) but he won't be ready for 3 years minimum. I would be open to a Rossi deal, i's not my first choice but it's not a terrible move. Could have Thomas, Dvorsky, Rossi down the middle in a few years

sure they need defensemen, however doesn't mean they can't improve the forwards as well. Especially since they were terrible at 5 v 5 offense again

I see them putting it in a package with either Krug or Faulk so they don't have to eat salary. Not saying they get nothing in return, but I see it being used as a sweetener to maybe move down actually. Only person I really want that might be available at 16 is Adam Jiricek.
Faulk and 16th overall to Toronto for their 1st makes sense to me. They will want major changes once they get bounced this round imo
