No chance Winnipeg trades Ehlers for picks alone.
Barlow isn't available. Let someone else pay Necas 7 or 7.5 over 7 or 8 years. I wouldn't want the jets doing that.
The Jets aren't giving any RHD away for nothing.
Montour isn't signing in Winnipeg.

Not at the cost of a far better player. Robertson looks like he'll never be more than an AHL/NHL tweener. He shouldn't be playing in anyone's top 6.

From all reports, Winnipeg does not want to go the futures route. You'd need to come up with a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control to interest Winnipeg.

No from Winnipeg. They have zero need for LHD.
With Harris requiring waivers he is not worth anywhere near a high 2nd.

One year of Theodore to play his off side isn't worth it. The Jets need more RHD not less and really need the RH shot.

Lol. Yet they're better than Toronto. He's actually one of Toronto's better players. You should hang onto him.

Not saying this is ideal but if they go for it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>McMichael is not a futures piece, and would help them win now.</div></div>
Again. We've gone though all this already. Trading a top 6 player for a bottom 6 player doesn't help Winnipeg win now. Especially one they don't have a spot for. It makes them worse now and in the future

Not saying this is ideal but if they go for it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>A "hockey trade" is player for player with future assets not being the centerpiece of a deal. Ehlers for McMichael would be a player for player hockey trade.
I like Ehlers a lot as a player. The fact of the matter is he's a rental winger that hasn't really been trusted by multiple coaching staffs despite the underlying numbers. Those types of players (and even much more valuable ones!) do not return bona-fide young, top-6 centers. In just the past year alone varying levels of comps for Ehlers in Guentzel, Lindholm, Toffoli (twice), and Mantha did not return the kind of thing you're asking for.
It's fine to not like McMichael. I personally am relatively down on him after this past year, and he's far from a guarantee to be a true top-6 caliber player. However he's already proven at minimum he can be a perfectly adequate 3c that can play up in the lineup in stretches and is that young and cost-controlled profile that WPG loves. There is some give and take in every trade and the mythical "young, cost-controlled, NHL proven, high upside, bona-fide top-6" player just never gets moved in any scenario. You have to pick and choose from some of those things and McMichael checks off a lot of those boxes. Want something with more upside? Take a 1st in this year's draft and hope that guy pans out in 4 years. Want a definite top-6 player for next year? Probably going to have to be someone older and with less term.
Every year there are a couple of players we do this same song-and-dance about and every year they get moved for the exact same thing and it's always underwhelming</div></div>
You're describing a futures trade. Winnipeg is looking to trade a top 6 winger for a similar player at a different position. Top 4 RHD or 2C for example. That's a hockey trade.
Futures as the main piece don't work. Just like the PLD trade, the Jets will trade for pieces that help now.
Overall though, teams trade players for Lucas they believe will help them and fill a role. They never trade them for players that they don't need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>I mean if you don't like McMichael then I get it but this is literally exactly what you're asking for. Young, cost-controlled, NHL-proven center and a sweetener for Ehlers. Doesn't get much more "hockey trade" than that</div></div>
It's not exactly what Winnipeg is looking for. Bottom 6 players of any type are is zero need or interest as the main piece in an Ehlers trade. So no it's not a hockey trade, it's a trade that suits your team only.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Oh I want to be in on this. So the young Center that was the middle man for Ovi for majority of the season is not a better option when compared to Lowry. Hot Take.
Is McM values equal to Ehlers, probably not.
Will it be equal at some point in the near future, maybe. McM is promising and definitely has a chance to maintain a top 6 center role.
How much do you truly know about McM? Would you rather have Lapierre? Let me know your thought process.</div></div>
Lowry is Winnipeg's captain and the Jets use their 3C as a shut down line and Lowry is one of thebest shut down centers in the NHL. McMichael has absolutely no chance of beating out Lowry.
The Jets are looking for a hockey trade for a player that preferably fills a top 4 RHD role with term or team control. Outside of that the Jets would look for a 2C with term or team control.
So, it's more a fit thing than a value thing. The Jets want to win now. Not make a trade where they have to wait for a player to develop hopefully into a 2C in another 3 or 4 years.

No he doesn't. Lowry is Winnipeg's captain and the Jets use their 3C and 3rd line as a shut down line and Lowry is one of the best shut down centers in the NHL. McMichael has absolutely no chance of beating out Lowry.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>Instead of making uninformed and bad takes about players you don’t actually know about, maybe you should make some suggestions in an ACGM for what ehlers SHOULD be traded for… because McMichael is a pretty valuable asset and the jets would be getting a slam dunk win in this trade. You’ve made one ACGM ever and your posting history is full of calling people trolls and putting people’s ideas down. Contribute positively.</div></div>
Maybe you should inform yourself on the lineups of other teams before making condescending comments on teams that you are ignorant about.
McMichael isn't a top 6C and isn't beating Lowry out at 3C. That makes him a winger in Winnipeg and unneeded.
If you want to contribute positively to the discussion educate yourself on the team and player you are talking about.

Yeah, it's a pretty big downgrade and doesn't fill a need, so it's nothing that Winnipeg would look for.. FA's of those type don't sign in Winnipeg, so that isn't an option.

No from Winnipeg. The Jets will be looking for a hockey deal that fills needs for an extended Ehlers, not just a wing downgrade.
