Canucks pass. I know it's a novel concept in Toronto, but we'd actually like to win a Stanley Cup sometime soon in Vancouver.

Not sure why the Canes and Hronek are being linked so much. If they see contract issues like this coming, they usually cross the street and walk other way...providing they don't get broomed aside by a street sweeper, first.

Well regardless, I wanted to congratulate you on the year. Not getting swept out of the playoffs has to feel like a pretty solid accomplishment for you guys.

I don't see Necas being a fit in Vancouver, either, TBH.
We're hearing he wants 8 mil per. If the Canucks don't want to pay Hronek or Horvat that much, are they willing to give it to Necas. Why? Plus, apparently he wants to play centre, which would push Petey to the wing (not ideal), and he's chaffing under Brind'Amour. Tocchet is even more demanding on details and defensive play, and probably will be even less inclined to play Necas at centre than Brind'Amour.
His speed and skill are certainly intriguing, but it doesn't seem like the right fit to me.

They just released the list of 20 names that fans can choose from in a survey, and I have to say, I found the list underwhelming.
I'd take the Rattlers, Scorpions, Red Tails, Ice Hawks or Snow Cats over anything from the list of 20. Heck, I'd take Monuments or Thunder Snow over names like the Blast, Canyons or Mountaineers.
I think the Smiths picked the wrong marketing company.

KEEP THE CORE
Save for Lindholm, your UFA signings are wishful thinking. No chance you get Myers at even close 2 mil per, Blueger is low by at least 1 million, probably more, and if Joshua signs for 4 mil per to stay in Van, he's giving them a hometown discount.
They are UFAs, man. They will get other offers.
And there is the Hronek issue. Only way he signs for that is if the Arb forces it on him, and then it's one year and he's gone.

Expansion Ideas and Division Reshaping
The new teams will likely be in Atlanta, Houston, Arizona and Cleveland.
8 floating divisions, no conferences.
Northwest Division - Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle, Vancouver
Pacific Division - Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose, Vegas
Midwest - Chicago, Colorado, Minnesota, Utah, Winnipeg
Southwest - Arizona, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, St. Louis
Northeast - Boston, Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa
Atlantic - New Jersey, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Philadelphia
Central - Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Toronto, Pittsburgh
Southeast - Atlanta, Carolina, Florida, Tampa Bay, Washington
First in the division gets a first round bye. Two plays Three in a best of five, winner plays One in a best of seven.
In the third round, the 8 teams get reseeded based on their record minus divisional games. 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5. The third, fourth and Final round are best of seven.
* 4 teams that take the league to 40 teams go to Baltimore, Hartford, Portland and San Francisco.

That's not the point of that deal for them. They're rebuilding, they get a pretty good goaltending prospect by weaponizing their LTIR.

Keeping Lindholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Is that the likely scenario with Tocchet? He willing to bet his future earnings on it?</div></div>
Toc will put guys where he thinks they are most effective. He can still use Lindholm as a centre in the face-off circle and when he wants certain match-ups. The plan was to have him playing with Petey when they acquired him.
All Lindholm has to do is put up Horvat numbers and he gets his $8.5M ask. Pretty sure he can 70 points on that roster, if he is in fact a 70 point player.

Are you sure about that? Yeah, he's got hands of stone, but he's a good two-way player with speed and size. The Devils have offense, Can they play an effective two-way game? You'd think guys like Mikheyev would be just what they're looking for, beyond goaltending.

Lines aren't set in stone, man. If he shows that his offensive game is back, he could get a lot of time playing on a line with Petey and Guentzel.
Guentzel / Petey / Lindholm

Joshua / Suter / Lekkerimaki

I really don't how much trade value Hronak. If he wants UFA, money, why would teams give up a whole lot for him, when they can use that money on a UFA.</div></div>
The answer is similar to why Hronek will get 8M plus on his next long term contract; because he's a RHD that can play in your top 3. He's a unicorn in the NHL right now. Look at the UFA market over the next few years and count how many top pairing RHD are due to become available. It's a really short list.

Mikheyev is still a very good player. He just needs a full off season of training to recover from the knee surgery.
