Entertaining a Nurse cap dump
Nurse has a full NMC and is very unlikely to waive it, unless it was maybe for his hometown team (leafs). Also Darnell is McDavid and Drai's closest friend on the team, meaning management won't trade him because it would upset their 2 biggest upcoming free agents

Was buying out Suter Parise the right move
If I remember correctly, they had to buyout those 2 contracts to have money for Kaprizovs big contract that year. The buyouts did suck, but they had a lot of immediate cap relief in the first year of the buyout, which is what allowed them to give Kaprizov his contract. If not buying them out meant losing Karill, it was 100% worth it to keep their franchise player

Oh interesting, my info could be a little dated. If I was Boston I definitely wouldn't want to let him go. But if he does reach FA I think his preferred destination is Edmonton

I think DeBrusk really want's to come home to Edmonton and play (I've heard from someone that knows his sister Jordan). But no clue if the Oilers will have enough cap space (if they buyout or dump Campbell it's a possibility).

Move Hronek Keep Lindholm
You gotta think that at an absolute minimum Zadorov gets the same deal Ben Chiarot got a couple years ago (4.75 x 4), adjusted for cap inflation. Zadorov is 29 and in his prime, I can't see him taking any discounts as this may be the biggest contract he ever gets. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes over 5 million on his next deal.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Myers gets a bigger contract too, something more in line with what you've got Tanev signed for.
Other than that, looks good!

Healthy lineup
I DO NOT want Stecher to play. Every single shift he played for the Oilers was chaotic this season, he did not fit in with the coaching style and wasn't making good reads. Ceci is far more reliable on the 3rd pairing.
And I know McLeod hasn't had a great playoffs, but I don't see any scenario where they scratch him. McLeod's speed, versatility, and penalty killing all give him the edge over Gagner.

A team may take a flyer on Reaves for what he can bring physically, but I don't think any team is going to give up an asset to take Kampf. You'll probably have to give away a draft pick or prospect to move his contract

Jack Campbells buyout is much more reasonable than Gallaghers. For that reason it doesn't make sense for the Oilers to do that trade

My Hopes for Next Year
As an Oilers fan, these trades are kind of ridiculous... It'll cost serious assets to move Campbell with no retention, likely the Oilers just buy him out. And a player like Ceci is easily replaceable in free agency, no need for Toronto to be giving up picks. Ceci likely gets moved for future considerations, or we have to give up draft picks with him.
Also salary cap should be 87.7 million

Also, I don’t like that goalie tandem - too inexperienced. If Skinner struggles and Roddy isn’t ready for prime time we’re sunk.</div></div>
There's plenty of cap space to re-sign Calvin Pickard in this scenario if that's what the management wants to do. It's just that Rodrigue is waiver eligible next season, and the organization seems to be pretty high on him

Kane has a full NTC for one more season. And we know he likely won't waive it from past experience. I think as long as he has an okay playoffs, the organization will keep him 1 more season.
I could definitely see Ceci being moved if they can find the right upgrade. I think he would've been moved at the deadline this season, had the right dman been available. But pickings are slim for right shot dmen this off-season.
And I think you're right about Bertuzzi, but the contracts into late 30s are Hollands specialty

NHL Signings

Vegas Golden Knights signed Noah Hanifin (8 Years / $7,350,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>doogiski</b></div><div>This doesn't make sense. The tax advantage is substantial and much more than $150k.
The difference for Hanifin each year making $7.35M in Vegas vs. Calgary is $640k take home:
Vegas (taxed at 38.9% from https://www.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Nevada): $7.35M -> $4.49M take home
Calgary (taxed at 47.6% from https://ca.talent.com/tax-calculator?salary=7350000&from=year&region=Alberta): $7.35M -> $3.85M take home
If Hanafin stays all 8 years in Vegas, the total take home difference between signing in Vegas vs. Calgary is $5.12M. This would mean Hanafin would have to play over 9 years in Calgary to take home the same earnings as he does in 8 years in Vegas.</div></div>
Does this take into account that you're only taxed at that amount for 41 games? Doesn't look like it does. Because that's how Elliot Freedman explained it. You're taxed at the rate of the place where the game is played, meaning you only get that 38.9% for 41 home games.
And obviously there are other factors like cost of living, disparity of property values in different locations, things like that to consider.

oil offseason
So a few issues here. You've failed to include the 3+ million in cap penalties we have next year from Connor Brown's and Perry's contract bonuses. But that's okay because you also forgot to buyout Jack Campbell, there's almost no chance they don't buy him out since it's such a reasonable buyout. You also got to figure Desharnais gets at least what Benoit got in Toronto (probably more).
Zucker is an extremely unlikely candidate to sign in Edmonton (almost no American free agents sign in edmonton). Some far more likely winger candidates to sign would be Debrusk, Bertuzzi, Lafferty, Amadio, or maybe Toffoli.

Poll Is Kaapo worth a top 10 pick yes or no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>I'm not the biggest fan of the argument "the average 10th overall pick isnt actually that good" when calling draft slot value. If you wanna use it to say that the draft is a total crapshoot, then I'll agree with that. But you can constantly find guys of high value in the teens, just because whoever picks at 10 makes a mistake doesnt mean that the 10th overall pick isnt valuable.</div></div>
I agree, saying the "10th overall pick isn't actually that good" is a bit of an ignorant statement. excluding 2023 (because it's too early to tell), the 10th OA picks from the previous 10 drafts are:
Pavel Mintyukov (already a fantastic NHL dman in his first season)
Tyler Boucher (has yet to play in the NHL)
Cole Perfetti (already a quality NHL player on pace for 41 points with limited ice time in Winnipeg)
Vasily Podkolzin (can't seem to consistently stay in the League)
Evan Bouchard (already a point per game #1 dman)
Owen Tippet (very good top 6 winger on pace for over 30 goals)
Tyson Jost (may end up being a bust)
Mikko Rantanen (elite top line forward)
Nick Ritchie (couldn't stay in the league)
Valerie Nichushkin (2-way winger that's over a point per game, scoring at a 40 goal pace)
The average 10th overall pick is actually quite good, and there are many elite players selected in the 10-30 range almost every single season.

At this point in his career Kaako has had similar career success to Nail Yakupov who was traded for a 3rd round pick (when he was still younger than Kaako is now). Now I'm not saying Kaako is as bad as Yakupov, he obviously isn't. But expecting to get a 1st round pick at all back for Kaako may be unrealistic

Maybe I'm a little optimistic, but I hope we see Holloway used as 3C if McLeod is moved around. He was used as a center in college and was good in the faceoff circle.

NHL final standing prediction
Looks pretty good to me.
I'm a little surprised you don't have the Oilers moving up in the standings (they're already in 9th place by points %). Since January 1st they have the best record in the NHL, its very likely they end up around 7th place in the league, possibly even higher.
