Man if your CGY, NSH, ANA, etc seeing this weak goalie market for 2024-2025

You could get a haul for your guys

As there really aint anything crazy out there and many teams will be looking to upgrade

EDM, TOR, NJ, AVS, etc.

You're certainly incorrect. The NHL does not make money or lose money.

? The NHL 100% makes a boatload of money

Nope and neither does the NFL, NBA or MLB.

You certainly don't understand the structure of these leagues

The individual teams make or lose money. The league doesn't The "league" is just an "administrator" of the rules.

You certainly don’t understand what revenue sharing is or that the NHL is the ownership groups of each team

They are not just an administrator of the rules, nor are they a non-profit that just breaks-even.

The NHL itself, "the league", not the Owners also gets a share of the revenues generated by the league (teams and the league collectively). This occurs in EVERY league, both pro sports and in US collegiate sports (NCAA). The league builds a pretty substantial amount of money actually. I don't know what the % is but I believe it is less than a full team share but I could be wrong about that as it is not public knowledge.

I think perhaps this is more detailed than necessary.

While the league itself is not cashing checks directly from me for my desire to watch McDavid, the financial performance of the league’s various stakeholders is the sum of its parts over the short, medium, and long term. Individual season financials are just as important, dollar for dollar, as 20 year franchise values are just as important as supplier agreements for merchandise are just as important as broadcast rights licensing.

It’s just much easier to say McDavid makes the league lots of money than to actually break down the specific ways that this occurs and who specifically benefits. Ultimately, McDavid is a funnel for many of the ways the stakeholders of the nhl make money. It is in more than edmontons best interest that he is able to play hockey and not recovering from a broken jaw due to face cross check. Some of those interests hit a balance sheet today, others are part of equations used when signing future contracts.

As there be a team ready to break the Babcock record per Weeks

And his assistants will also be compensated to wink

Canada only allowed six shots today. I know it was Norway, but still. They got scattered, smothered, covered and stifled.

If I was a legit NHL GM - i'd trade E. Bouchard first opportunity.
His game and mine do NOT see eye to eye

What would Toronto do if Berube and Brind'Amour were both off the market? Who would their next choice be?

OIL are Leafs West.
Canucks are a bunch of nobodies - buy a program to find out who they are!!
Yet they'll take EDM to the woodshed LOL!

GMs - get ready making roster space for Drai UFA @ end of 2025!!

Probs go internal with Guy Boucher till next season when Sullivan gets canned

But would be surprised if Berube is off the market unless TOR shifts to Brind'Amour which based on Weeks report I think is a real big possibility

As I dont think TOR would hand Berube a bigger deal than Babcock. Brind'Amour though 50/50 especially if you are bringing his staff to

That's kind of my point. Toronto, if they focus on Brind'Amour could see Berube sign elsewhere in the meantime. Then Brind'Amour could stay or go to Seattle leaving TML with plan C.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so bad for other teams than this playoffs:

Carolina has such a good team but got such a hard matchup. NYR is so fancy.

The poor Jets will really struggle to get another opportunity as good as the one they had and blew. Really just sad.

Toronto just had health fall apart, which is whatever. Its a built in risk for everybody, seems to always hit somebody.

I hate the Avs, but still, having dudes struggle with life at the wrong times sucks. Hope that dude finds out how much better it is on the other side.

The bright side for me is watching Vancouver. They’re fun and it makes me happy and I like their fans. But if Edmonton loses that’s another big bummer cause I think they’re gonna have to rethink things if they can’t move on.

Fun times.

Dreger is reporting that Toronto will name their new head coach on Tuesday, which in my eyes all but confirms that Berube is the guy. Contracts are all finished up, and the announcement will occur after the long weekend.

Welcome to Toronto, Craig!
