VGK trade - cap help

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2024
Published: May 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Get some good "cycle/forecheck" players.

The team needs talents up front... and more size and speed in the bottom 6. These type of checking line are draining on opposing teams and will often be constituted of guys who are PK specialist as well.

A guy like Nic Roy would be perfect on a line with a guy like Armia.

Then lets get Perry back to play with Armia and recreate that Armia -Staal- Perry playoff line that dominated the leafs.

Put Anderson on waiver to go work on himself in the AHL like Armia did. Sink or swim. Let's hope it works - because he is good when he is ON... not the floating cardio machine he has become.

Trades
MTL
  1. Roy, Nicolas
Additional Details:
Vegas will have a cap problem this summer.

With Eichel, Hertl and one of Stephenson/Karlsson... Roy becomes an expensive 3rd/4th line center.

Evans can do the job (will score less - but he is great defensively) at 1.7M$, which is saving you 1.3M$ you can put toward depth or resiging players.
VGK
  1. Evans, Jake
  2. 2024 1st round pick (WPG)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (NJD)
  4. 2025 4th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
We can also offer cheao and good LHD if you happen to trade Theodore to make some cap space.

I love Roy, I think he's awesome but, he's not that awesome to give all that up.

I'd think the Winnipeg 1st alone is more than fair, especially to a team in a cap crunch

I also think William Karlsson, Howden, Barbashev and Hill are more likely to be cap casualties

Well - While I mentionned PK - I wanted him more for the forechecking/cycle game.

I would prob run with Dach and Dvorak as the centers (if Roy would come over) for the PK.

Giving Dach anymore time on the ice than he alrdy needs to have frightens me... the dude is as frail as a plastic bag blowing in the wind

I wouldn't say frail... more unlucky.

The wrist incident was a freak accident... same with the Knee.

PK units moving beyond this year could get into Suzuki + Beck (4th line, internal option).
Whether or not Roy is the way they want to go for 3rd line C moving forward becomes the questions I guess
