DET
  1. Raddysh, Taylor [RFA Rights]
  2. 2024 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
This trade is slightly modified, the inclusion of Raddysh, but I found it in a Detroit ACGM.

I love this move because it gets us within range to trade for a Yakemchuk trade up without depleting our draft capital. Holl is good Murphy injury insurance, and can rotate as a number 6/7 D.

I’m not sure if it fills a need for Detroit, but if they were open to this move I would take it 100/100 times

Apparently we needed another thread to again explain that Detroit still isn't dropping 5 picks to clear a guy that can easily be bought out.

Please, Anders Lee is still good. Was the most unlucky player in regards to expected goals in the league this year and actually had great underlying numbers & analytics + the captain.

No thanks from Detroit. We can just buy him out if he can't be moved for cheap.

The gap between 10 and 20 is historically worth the equivalent of pick 23.

Or using picks you own picks 20, 34, and 53 for 10th

Ahh. In that case the gap would be equivalent to 34th overall. Perfect fit if you switch it to your own 2nd

The history of what it costs to move up suggests that is what it would take

No it doesn't. Not quite that much. The 34th overall pick would be almost double the value of the gap between 15 and 10.

Based on what historical comp?

The closest one out there is 12th overall for 17th+28th.

To move up from 14th to 11th it cost 45th overall a few years ago

You are offering 15th and 53rd for 10th.

This is a worthwhile tool for pick values

Puckpedia Calculator

#10 = 34.2
#15 = 24.9
#34 = 9.5

According to a study don't by the Sound of Hockey, which was done long before Puckpedia jumped on the "value calculation bandwagon" and put out their calculators.

Puckpedia is fine. But there are much more accurate studies that had been done long before Puckpedia jumped on the bandwagon a few months ago.

AZ moves up from 14th to 11th a few years ago.

Puckpedia predicts that would cost 47th
Sound of hockey predicts 62nd

Actual cost: 45th

Countless more examples Examples of puckpedia accuracy

Interesting. Kudos on putting in the work @NHLfan10506! Not sure how I missed that thread. It seems the Sound of Hockey and The Athletic use a lot more than just historical trade data to assign value, a sort of "overpayment vs actual value" scale. But if overpayment is what it takes to "get your guy", then so be it. There are roster, contract, and reserve limits to consider, as well. All of which CHI is currently approaching and aren't just going to go away. Not that they are a huge concern, but that just means that we can afford to start throwing more precise darts at the dart board rather than throwing a larger quantity of them. When has 'throwing a fist full of darts' ever really achieved anything, aside from being funny, anyway.
