PLD and his horrible contract are close to unmoveable. Better off just keeping him and hoping he turns into what you hoped when the deal was signed.

Zero chance Chicago is taking on that dumpster fire.

Not even if the package includes a 6th round pick? Man you drive a hard bargain.

That's not enough to move PLD. His on ice results against his cap hit and term are toxic and going to cost quite a lot to move at this point. As much as it stings, the Kings are better off buying him out versus the including the assets it would take to move him such as (2) 1sts plus Turcotte just to get a conversation going likely.

- Gavrikov almost certainly would not waive for WPG
- Arvidsson has been close to a PPG player the last two seasons... even if he doesn't get term the "prove it" deal is going to be at least $3M
- Grz can be good but his skillset is limited due to his size, I would not want to be the GM who gives him that contract

In terms of the Jets defense, the right side is in dire need for an upgrade. The left side would be in better shape than the right with Morrissey, Samberg, Heinola/Stanley if Dillon is gone.

In any event, most players with trade protection will not waive to go to WInnipeg.

Gavrikov and Winnipeg say no as the Jets don't need an LHD.

It needs to be a hockey trade that fills a need for the Jets. So, a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control.

You forgot the 2 million in retention, making the 2nd a 1st, and the not getting Kaiser part of this proposal....but otherwise....sure. Buy him out and move on...but that gets the ticking clock on Blake getting fired much louder so I doubt there is an admission this soon on how badly that trade was managed in terms of assets given and contract awarded.

This is why there is a pretty good chance we see something like PLD + Clarke + 1st for Marner.

It might seem like an overpay for Marner but from a PR standpoint it's a great way to sneak out of the PLD contract and keep the heat off of Blake.

If I were a Kings fan and this was how you slip out of the PLD debacle, I would be even more pissed as it makes it even worse to lose multiple trades for the same player (as a Hawks fan I know all to well losing 3 Saad trades). Trading a 21 RHD you used a top 10 draft pick for, another 1st to dump PLD and a year of Marner (and the privledge of (over)paying him 12 million per) seems like doubling down on a losing hand.

Not to beat a dead horse, but that doesn't even come close to moving PLD's contract. As of the buyout window this summer he will still be eligible for the U26 buyout, which is 1/3rd of the remaining contract value and is significantly more affordable than if he were over 26. That is probably LA's best bet.

Yeah a 2nd, 4th, and a 6th to eat $56m of a dog-ass contract you gave a malcontent, what a deal!

Are you saying 8 years wasn't a good bet on a 24 year old hot-and-cold guy who had already worn out his welcome on two teams? How was Blake to know!

This isn't a guarantee. If the cup finals go to 6 or 7 games then he will be over 26

True. Man, that would be pretty crazy if they just barely missed it. Do they buy him out anyway or does that become unmanageable?

You addressed it in the description, but there's zero chance Arvidsson signs a 1x1. Yes he was hurt, but he's a proven NHL veteran. Just not happening.

Minnesota doesn't even consider the Gustavsson trade. A third, a sixth and a depth defenseman for a 25-year-old starting caliber goalie? Huh?
