CF Sellouts - Caps Suck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlySharks2006</b></div><div>Waivers exempt does not equal salary cap casualty. If they really wanted the guy up, they would have found a way. Also, there is no way coach and management, with aspirations of another run, are going to trust a new guy with the same responsibilities as a veteran who’s been there before. Sorry to hurt your feelings, but they absolutely will take Rutta over Max ten out of ten times.
You’re putting too much stock into RH faceoff guy.</div></div>
So, do I believe you or Jon Cooper? If you don't think guys sent down because they're waivers exempt you are absolutely delusional. You got two guys you want to keep ,one is waivers exempt, one isn't ,but you can't afford to lose either one who is going down? Salary cap matters

TB doesn't have the cap space . Crozier was a salary cap casualty last season to quote Jon Cooper " Max would've been up all year were he not waivers exempt."so Max Crozier making <900k takes that spot over 2.75 million Rutta ZERO CHANCE TB DOES THIS!!
It also takes away the right hand faceoffs guy easy easy no Glendening isn't the guy nor is Rutta at his cap hit.

They have to sign 9 contracts just to reach 20 there is 20,000,000 easily. Do the math that's less than 2,000,000 average sign 1- $7,000,000 it's 1.3 they have 13 picks in the first 2 rounds of the next 3 drafts combined don't need more draft capital in fact they'll more likely package a bunch of picks for a young cost controlled defenseman or try to sway VGK to trade Theodore for a bunch of picks. Don't say teams don't trade in division because that's truly garbage.

That ownership is gone they were tight fisted people thinking Utah is going to be run Like AZ was are very foolish people.$40,000,000+ can fix a lot of problems.

They also don't need to help Montreal for nothing and they only need to spend $21,000,000 on 12 contracts to be cap compliant. How the F*** do you know they won't be they have over$40,000,000 to spend if they want which can make them a serious playoff contender. And they AREN'T A PLAYOFF TEAM NEXT YEAR EITHER? DUMB TRADE. Zero I mean less than zero benefit for Utah

They can't acrue TDL cap space and, it costs the team real dollars for absolutely nothing. Now you tell me one positive for Utah ? You can't it doesn't exist. Smiths already made it clear he's not afraid to spend money cap floor won't be an issue dumb assumption. The need $21,000,000 to sign 12 players to reach the floor not an issue

It's the same reason they took Webers contract, Prices would still be more money then his was since it would leave like 5 million left to pay.
I don't think new ownership does this, Smith looks like he is willing to spend actual money to get to a competitive level but this is a typical deal that teams do all the time to get to the floor, just depends on the teams strategy</div></div>
According to Allan Walsh on "agent provocateur" podcast NHL contracts are only insured up to 80% so do I believe you or an NHL agent. Do you have some proof of your statement? Only two reasons to do this I seriously doubt Utah is in either
1) You have a really bad contract you need to dump to get cap compliant ( i.e. TB trading Tyler Johnson for Brent Seabrook)
2 you need to reach the cap floor and Smith has stated that won't be a problem.
Other than those it's the dumbest thing a GM CAN DO!!

Easiest no ever from TB if they thought Rutta was worth that contract he'd already be wearing a bolt. Glendening was brought in to do two things. Take right handed defensive zone faceoffs and kill penalties. He did both exceptionally well. The fact he had double digit goals is a massive bonus.

What possible reason is there for Utah to do this? It absolutely is. There is less than no rational logic in it. Every other trade the other team is at least getting a useful piece back price does nothing but disable Utah's ability to acrue TDL cap space and cost Ryan Smith the real dollars that are the uninsured portion of Prices contract.

You're absolutely delusional
A) initial point if contact is the jaw.
B) his skates left the ice prior to contact which clearly makes it "intent to injure".
If Barkov and Draisatl were reversed your tune would be completely different. The game was 3-1 at that point. They tried taking Barkov out because he on them like white on bleached rice.

Flying elbow to Barkov .
He shot up and outward elbow directly to the head after his skates left the ice should be at least 2 games honestly. He stays low and goes through Barkovs body clean hit, however he didn't just before contact he thrust up and out making Head contact in an illegal manner this is elbowing. Barkov did not return for the remainder of the game. DOPS should suspend Leon Draisatl 2 games
