NUCKS Guentzel edition
Sens easily decline imo. Swapping a 2.9mil winger for a 4.75mil winger who fills the same role is not financially viable when they'll also need to pay Hronek like 7mil on top of that (which is a dubious proposition in and of itself).

Ottawa Senators signed Angus Crookshank (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
He's a little small, but I think he brings a lot to the table, and will be a good 4th liner in the NHL. He's an absolute workhorse, he skates well, and he's an absolute sh*tbag. Liked him in his NHL stint last year, would have liked to see more. Hopefully he's able to stick in Ottawa this season, because if not I absolute see him as a guy who could leave and find a role on a different NHL team.
Would love to see them break camp with Crookshank, Kelly, Ostapchuk and a vet 12/13 forward to compete for the 4th line (idk maybe you try one more year with Kasty). A rotation of guys who have a role to play, and who will put their heads down and work. Sens have had WAY too many floaters on that 4th line in the last half decade.

Going through my old posts.... spent a LOT of time early in the rebuild hoping for Ottawa to add a bunch of guys off that 2018 Canada WJC team 😬😬😬

Neither would I, in fact, I'd be stoked to see the Honey Badger back. But pageau at 5mil is not even close to being viable for Ottawa, and the return here is horrific. A 1st straight up is not even close to enough for Chychrun, and at 5mil Pageau IS a cap dump, even if the player is ultimately still worth having.

Deal is WILDLY lopsided towards MTL.
Ottawa's got no business moving that high a pick for a goalie with zero long term outlook.

Ferraro Speculation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>Depends which player the Sens want tbh. Cuz the value is pretty good.</div></div>
Depending on how the draft shakes out, maybe it could end up the better option, I just think the upside is so much stronger at the top. Like, you could potentially end up with like, Helenius and Emery, and maybe those two are more valuable than just getting Sam Dickinson/Zane Parekh/ whoever, but like.... it's just as likely that you end up with something way less appealing overall imo. At least with the 7th pick you're guaranteed one bonafide difference maker (well as much as anything is "guaranteed" in the draft).

Hometown discounts
I could see Ottawa betting on Knight, but I don't see how this makes any sense for Ottawa. Spencer Knight is still young, but he makes 4.5mil and had a pretty mid season as an AHL goalie. Even if there is upside to it, Ottawa is doing Florida a big favour taking that money off their hands. At best its a straight up swap with Forsberg, if not Ottawa should be getting the sweetener, definitely not retaining to make this happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Calgary doesn't want Korpisalo. Remove him and it might be acceptable. That'd basically be Grieg + Boston's late 1st for Markstrom and swapping the other 1sts to move up 2 spots for the retention on Markstrom.
For a team that needs a starting goalie as badly as the Sens he doesn't just **** gold, he IS gold.</div></div>
I want to state for the record that a man made of gold is way worse than one who ****s gold. That's WAY less gold long term.

At this point, I don't think it's practical to go big game hunting. I'd settle for MacKenzie Blackwood if it meant dumping Korpisalo's deal.

Whats happening with CF

I mean, sure. I've been using Capfriendly about as long as anyone on here, I'm not at all happy that It'll be gone in less than a month. But I think it's also totally ridiculous to frame this as a f*ck you to the fans. Hard to really blame the Capitals to want full control over such an incredibly useful resource (and to not want competitors to have access to the same) and I think it's even more difficult to blame the people who have run this site for the last decade for choosing a presumably massive payday over some moral stance about it being "for the fans". They've worked long and hard to become the gold standard in their field, it's completely well deserved for them to sell. Personally I'm sad to see them go, but happy that people who built something I've genuinely loved for the better part of the last decade are moving on to something dope.

Correct, my mistake. Meant General Fanager. Always mix the two up. The creator of General Fanager WAS hired by the Golden Knights.

I'm sure most teams do have internal tracking of all the same information, but it's almost certainly true that Cap friendly was by far the most convenient method for NHL GM's to use in real time. If you're a GM in a meeting with your assistants and president, bouncing ideas on what roster moves you might look into in the summer, it's absolutely more convenient to pull up cap friendly and find relevant info in like 30 seconds than sending an email to whichever staff member handles that internal tracking and having them give you the exact same information anyway. In fact we've even seen multiple times teams putting out pr photos of Management with Cap Friendly clearly visible in the background. Dorion is the most notable one because he was so incompetent in everything he did, but it's happened a BUNCH of times lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Letsgosharks</b></div><div>I'm genuinely so confused, if there is some sort of technology they have, I guess sell them that, its just a great website for us fans to follow</div></div>
The Golden Knights did the same thing with Cap Geek back in the day, when they were still the "Las Vegas Hockey Team" or whatever. It's a sound business practice tbh. The Caps wanted to build out their own internal salary cap department, they could either hire a bunch of new people to build their own version of cap friendly internally, or they could simply buy the already polished and highly functional cap friendly and bring it in house. It's presumably a higher up front cost compared to if they built their own equivalent, but takes less time and effort to actually integrate it, and comes with the added benefit of removing Cap Friendly as a resource other teams have access to.
It's a very common practice in tech. Amazon wanted to get into home security, rather than spend years and billions of dollars developing their own products to compete in the market, they simply bought Ring doorbell.
