Trade back for a G
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>You could make that argument. Whether other teams believe it or not is another story. I root for another team in the east and would love nothing more than to see a promising young team like Jersey neutered again by their goalie situation</div></div>
I mean... the proof is in the pudding. You take the way he performed, and put him behind the best teams in the league, and people would be looking at him in a whole new light. He was a great up and coming goalie before a long injury plagued 5 years where he bounced from team to team with his career seemingly going down the drain. And he credits CHI's strength and conditioning staff for showing him exercises to get him healed and playing well again. Not only that, but his base stats and advanced metrics tell a story that should have been nearly impossible playing behind a defensively poor, injury plagued, young, and inexperienced team like CHI was this past season. Plus, he played WAY more games than he should have because Soderblom was not ready for the NHL and was put in just as much of a position to fail. Add to all of that that he would be coming in with a $2.25M cap hit for 2 years...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I love the concept of a chart for the NFL draft, but it almost always comes down to the specific cluster of players you can get at each position in hockey.
In this draft, I view the significant drop off after ~13 and ~21 as a pretty significant consideration. Those charts are useful when you aren’t crossing more than 1 tier. I find them pretty useful after you pass the threshold where the quality of the draft has dropped. I don’t believe that’s the case here.
Mrazek retained would be a wonderful thing for the rest of the East. It’s not what Jersey needs
I believe Jersey could and should ask for a hell of a lot more than the 37th pick in this draft,</div></div>
You could make the same argument for the value of a 50% retained Mrazek, that CHI should be asking a hell of a lot more for him. Behind one of the most poorly constructed, albeit intentionally, and injury riddled rosters in the history of the NHL, Mrazek was one of the best goalies in the league this past season. Imagine what he could do behind a team that can actually score and support him defensively.

Trade back for a G
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I do believe there would be conversations with Chicago about a trade down before they gave up 10th for a goalie.
That said, this deal is a woeful underpayment considering the quality at 10 vs 18. I think it would be more than the Islanders pick and Chicago’s second round pick.</div></div>
Depending on what "chart" you believe. Moving from 18 to 10 is worth Pick #37 all by itself. No players or retention involved. Link below for source. Adding the CHI 3rd means it's a middle of the road 2nd round pick. Is Mrazek 50% retained for 2 years worth a middle of the road 2nd round pick? I think the retention slot alone is worth that, but who's to say?

354.44 - 248.82 = 105.62 Round up to favor the Devils.
105.62 - 32.76 = 72.86

Building the team with Stamkos
I can only imagine what Seider's price will be 4 years from now. 😬
You're playing with fire not signing him for 8 years.
Stamkos isn't leaving Tampa and it sounded like Kane was saying goodbye to Detroit.

Idk, don't see the point in this for Detroit, Markstrom isn't getting them a cup, they're far better off to keep their 1st and keep building in Motown.
There's gonna be more then just one bad year in Calgary, they really need to keep tearing it down there and build for the future, all their vets should be approached about where they'd waive to and trades should be worked out for futures returns.

I think the best deal here is
Markstrom and a 4th
For
Husso, Berggren/Wallinder and a 2nd
Just depends whether Calgary wants a guy to insert this season or wants to build out its defensive depth longer term

To be fair, I never understood what Grier was doing when he traded Kappo for Vanacek. Let’s just acquire an overpaid goalie who makes too much money. Maybe he does it twice :)
7th vs 14th in this draft is substantial. Whether that’s worth Ferraro is another story

If they select at #3 the Ducks are guaranteed to get one of Levshunov or Silayev. If they pick at #6, they're not guaranteed to get either.
The difference between #3 and #6 is #35.

I don't think either of those players has much value to New Jersey. Probably just be a straight pick swap and I'm not sure if they would even be interested in that.
Sending that package for Gus isn't worth it. He's going to get blown up just as bad as Husso and Lyon did with this really bad defense.

Was just going along with what OP was doing in a trade back lol. If Lindstrom is there and Columbus doesn't want him though I'd hope Staios atleast makes an offer.

Sergachev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DopeGM</b></div><div>Especially a young core piece like Sergachev.
Cernak to Buffalo makes so much sense for both teams.
Sergachev happens to be floating around in my mind this AM because of McDonough and the possibility that Brisebois wants to sell while his injury history is still kind of settling in</div></div>
I personally had Cernak to Utah working out more - Utah has no defenseman under contract with the exception of rights to RFAs, and Cernak would be able to let guys like Durzi and Moser play a more offense oriented game while being under a long term contract. Tons of picks and with an ownership not afraid to spend/move assets to improve the squad, seems like a match made in heaven if TB can squeeze two 2nds out of them. If Cooper plays Sergachev on the right side it opens the possibility for Lilleberg (got some growing pains but still a very solid 3RD) and Crozier's cheap ELCs to take the 3rd pairing. If you're able to retain Perbix too, and let's say Sergachev does get injured, Hedman-Raddysh, McDonagh-Crozier, and Lilleberg-Perbix (last two are interchangeable) don't seem that awful in the greater scheme of things. Wouldn't even call it an injury history for Misha, just god awful luck with two bad leg injuries.

Sergachev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DopeGM</b></div><div>Really? I could see Cernak instead but I’m not sure how they fill out the roster? Or no Stamkos</div></div>
Yeah I had an ACGM where I shipped out Cernak and he's the one piece that can kind of preserve the majority of the core. He's coming off a down year so I'm not sure what value we'd get, but I think he seems like the most likely casualty with guys like Crozier and Schmidt in the system.
Hedman-Raddysh, McDonagh-Sergachev (lefty with RD experience), and Lilleberg-Crozier? Coop loved Lilleberg-Croz in Syracuse, and the only thing stopping TB from running with Crozier was the cap last season. If Cernak's on the way out I think we might see this?
I think TB might just go heavy on the left with Hedman, Sergachev, and McDonagh with 3LD minutes while keeping Raddysh, Cernak, and Crozier/Perbix if he stays.
If we move TJ, Sheary, and/or Perbix, we'd have enough for Stamkos + and ELC player developing in the top six, plus space for maybe a 22 man roster. Might take more work and more phone calls to make it happen, but I'd rather gut the bottom six from expensive pieces and preserve our top 6/top 4 d-men than lose a crucial piece.

Sergachev
Yurov is signed to the KHL for next year, so he's not coming over just yet. Maybe Heidt makes the team out of camp and there is your ELC top 6 player to save some cap.
Only way I'd consider this as the Wild is if it's Rossi and Middleton for Sergachev with no picks. The salary cap exists and Tampa saves quite a bit on their cap for next year which should be incentive enough for them to do it. They sacrifice on defense, but improve at forward and with them bringing in McDonagh, they can probably afford to downgrade Sergachev to Middleton.

I don't think Sergachev is on the move. Odds are Cooper might experiment and he plays the right side next season paired with McDonagh.
Solid chance they just shop Jeannot/Perbix and trade or buyout (if they can't trade) Sheary instead to get their savings
