Lottery bound again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>Sharks will be bad again which I'm fine with.
Can use another lottery pick player to add to the rebuild. 😁
I expect Grier to take a cap dump or 2 if he's getting good value with it.
Like a 1st round pick or good prospect.
Or maybe a good young player already in the NHL just needing an opportunity to play more.
Celebrini and Smith will add some excitement and we'll win a few more games.
Grier likely signs a UFA or 2 depending on need and fit.
I don't want any long term UFA's. 😬
Just stop gaps and placeholders.
But make no mistake about it.
We'll be bad again. 😁</div></div>
yep draft a dman top 5, and sheesh what a group of youth

Whats happening with CF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I mean, sure. I've been using Capfriendly about as long as anyone on here, I'm not at all happy that It'll be gone in less than a month. But I think it's also totally ridiculous to frame this as a f*ck you to the fans. Hard to really blame the Capitals to want full control over such an incredibly useful resource (and to not want competitors to have access to the same) and I think it's even more difficult to blame the people who have run this site for the last decade for choosing a presumably massive payday over some moral stance about it being "for the fans". They've worked long and hard to become the gold standard in their field, it's completely well deserved for them to sell. Personally I'm sad to see them go, but happy that people who built something I've genuinely loved for the better part of the last decade are moving on to something dope.</div></div>
Alright dawg take the superiority route, supporting an organization that gives 0 ****s about you lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FoxYou727</b></div><div>lots of NHL teams use it apparently which makes sense, it is free to use and you don't have to spend as much money on a cap department. Given things like the calculators and future rosters it would make it harder for teams to evaluate options in the future. Makes sense if you are a NHL team tbh but so many hockey fans are getting screwed</div></div>
Okay well now teams will just create something like this in days, it doesn't change anything for them

Whats happening with CF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I'm sure most teams do have internal tracking of all the same information, but it's almost certainly true that Cap friendly was by far the most convenient method for NHL GM's to use in real time. If you're a GM in a meeting with your assistants and president, bouncing ideas on what roster moves you might look into in the summer, it's absolutely more convenient to pull up cap friendly and find relevant info in like 30 seconds than sending an email to whichever staff member handles that internal tracking and having them give you the exact same information anyway. In fact we've even seen multiple times teams putting out pr photos of Management with Cap Friendly clearly visible in the background. Dorion is the most notable one because he was so incompetent in everything he did, but it's happened a BUNCH of times lmao</div></div>
all that's going to change now is that teams will make it more convenient, creating a database like this isn't all that hard for teams. all this does is **** over the fans.
to have any other opinion is asinine

isn't all of this information still public? what do they get out of shutting it down? the scouting reports? just the random tools? like the buyout calculator? are you kidding me?

This is a mild inconvenience to other teams and that's really about it.</div></div>

Whats happening with CF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>The Golden Knights did the same thing with Cap Geek back in the day, when they were still the "Las Vegas Hockey Team" or whatever. It's a sound business practice tbh. The Caps wanted to build out their own internal salary cap department, they could either hire a bunch of new people to build their own version of cap friendly internally, or they could simply buy the already polished and highly functional cap friendly and bring it in house. It's presumably a higher up front cost compared to if they built their own equivalent, but takes less time and effort to actually integrate it, and comes with the added benefit of removing Cap Friendly as a resource other teams have access to.
It's a very common practice in tech. Amazon wanted to get into home security, rather than spend years and billions of dollars developing their own products to compete in the market, they simply bought Ring doorbell.</div></div>
alright cool thanks for the business lesson mark cuban, appreciate it
