Mock Hronek trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Not big, mean or tough enough. And he's asking for too much money. Plus, why give up assets for Hronek when Montour is UFA, as well as other top 4 D?</div></div>
Hronek is 4 years younger. I would offer him 7.25m x 8 years. Montours contract will go until he is OLD OLD.
And not every dman needs to be big and mean. We went into the playoffs with Edmundson, Bush and Benoit. All 3 are solid individually. But they are all offensive black holes. Biggest reason why we couldn't score. We need to add more offense from our D, will making sure we still have toughness and size.
My preference
Rielly-Roy
McCabe-Hronek
Gustafsson-Tanev or Lily
Benoit-Timmins/Niemela
Good combo of physicality and scoring.

He would be a perfect addition for the Leafs. Not sure what you are on. Leafs need more than one D. We will also need a high end defensive RD. We can make the cap work by getting both.

I would be very interested in bringing Hronek in on the Leafs. My offer is 7.25m x 8 years though. if he want's more I pass.
I offer 1st + lily. I really hope the Leafs keep Robertson. I like him too much.

Marner is definitely going to Nashville
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kous</b></div><div>Players like Marner return 3-4 pieces (1sts and/or high level prospects)
Goaltenders return is way lower 1st + 3rd (on the high end)
So this package is not far off from a value perspective
But does this fit the need for the Leaf's? If they move Marner they need to bring back an elite D or a really good package of young talent.</div></div>
I would personally remove Schenn from this. Saros + 3 picks + 6m in cap space would be great. You use the cap space to sign the D we need.

Saros + 1st is reasonable. Everything else is bonus.

I believe Saros + 1st is fair. I would of course love more though. Saros + 1st + 6m in cap space would be the minimum in my mind.

This is clearly way more than enough for Marner. Now you are just trolling. But yes Knies is completely untouchable.

He threw in Knies as well. Who is 100% not for sale.
But I agree the package needs a lot of reworking.
I personally believe Saros + 1st for Marner would work perfect for both teams. Assuming Saros and Marner both extend long term.

So it doesn't fit for Vancouver?

Late 1st can get a lower end top 6 guy. But there are a few options in free agency also.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vancity2196</b></div><div>Hronek to Leafs?
Why?</div></div>
Leafs need to upgrade their D and they really need to add more offence to their D group. They have generated very little offence from their D for years.
Why not?

Thanks!! I Knew about Florida, Alaska, Tennessee and Texas. Didn't know the others. I am Canadian so I don't need to know them all. But being a hockey nerd, this is helpful info. So thank you!
But I am surprised Washington state is on that list!

we only have 1 right shot RD in this scenario. I love the Chychrun add (if he extended). But I would use him on LD. We need a RD more. or 2 RD.
I would accept that Seattle package very quickly. But I doubt Seattle trades Wright.

Let's be honest, if Marner went to Anaheim, he wouldn't be a rental. Trading for him without a contract negotiated ahead of time makes zero sense.
So it would be assumed that Marner gets extended her.

I would be surprised if he gets a 1st. It's rare for a goalie to get a 1st. I assume a 2nd.
I know Kuemper got the 1st a few years ago, but I think Ullmark will be worth less. Time will tell!
