Given the year Smith is coming off of and his contract this year, you might need to be the one adding the 3rd to get someone to take him on.

I’m sure the deal was just made as a placeholder to see Brady on the team but damn. A little more work to make it seem at least a little bit legitimate would’ve been nice 😂

A Chychrun deal to Pittsburgh would likely need to start with Yager/Blomqvist or the ‘25 1st. There’s no way you get a deal done with none of those pieces being involved. Likely would need multiple with no 1st this year.

I think everyone in the league is on the same page of what type of player McAvoy is. My point was just that I don’t think it’s realistic.
I pointed out the issues for Ottawa but it would be the same for Boston. If you moved McAvoy out, you’d be adding a massive piece up front but then you’re stuck trying to fill 25-30mins of elite play from a RD… which is just about impossible.
If Brady goes to Boston I’m sure they’d make sure it’s literally any piece other than McAvoy or Pasta that’s moving.

Alright by all means don’t acknowledge the very reasonable reply that addressed the issues you were raising. Even if you keep raising the same issues past my reply that addressed them it’s all good. If there’s nothing to reply to then that means I made my point and you understood it, maybe even agreed.
But now that we established what I said was fair, by all means go and reply to whatever you like.
Same way you can reply to whatever you like I think I’m done replying to anything in this thread tho lol

2024-25 Buffalo Sabres Playoff team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Didn’t the same thing happen to Chris Pronger in Edmonton? We heard a BS rumor that he wasn’t happy in Edmonton and everyone glommed onto it, and the media wouldn’t stop talking about it until they finally forced it into being. In reality, I bet the NHL didn’t like Chris Pronger in Edmonton and wanted him in a bigger market. Anaheim isn’t the media hotbed that another city might be, but it’s a bigger metropolitan area than Edmonton anyway. The same thing happened with Jack Eichel. For years fans of other teams kept saying he wanted to leave Buffalo, as soon as his second season in the NHL. Every year, even as his play improved, we would still hear how he should want out. Eventually he finally did. Of course the NHL benefits getting him to a bigger, new market like Vegas. That said how much do you think the NHL likes having a Tkachuk brother in Ottawa? About as much as they liked having one in Calgary I assume.</div></div>
I think this speaks to a much larger conversation but at its core I think each situation is different even if there are similarities. If Matthew wanted to stay in Calgary then I’m sure he would’ve made that a reality whether the league wanted it or not. Same goes for Pronger. A final appearance wasn’t enough for him but in reality he got out at the right time.
If Brady wanted out and the league wanted him in a bigger market I’d imagine it would be somewhere other than Buffalo? It’s possible but given Brady’s personality and how they’ve tried to cater to him as they’ve built around him I feel like he’s a senator for life. Dorion prioritized him and I’m sure Staios will do the same.
Definitely food for thought tho.

Chych deal would be interesting. Don’t think Ullmark has any intention of coming to Ottawa but if he did adding a 2nd on top would be extremely hard to turn down.

Genuinely think there aren’t pieces in place to prop the offence up without Brady. They’d have to have a major fa addition lined up to make it work but if they figured something out then I’d be 100% behind it. Hard to imagine a better player being returned on a swap.

These all look good! Would have to be happy with Ehlers for Chychrun, I think I prefer Joseph to Iafallo but the core of the deal is appealing.
Whitecloud would be a welcome addition, especially at that price. Same goes for TVR if it’s a 3rd going the other way.
Boucher I would hope they keep given what’s already invested into him but there’s also a good chance that Staois tries to rid himself of the player considering it wasn’t his pick. Would be a good opportunity to cut ties if he thinks it’ll get worse w Tyler.

And Hanifin is better than Chychrun.
Yes, you are right. Virtually all of chychrun's value came from his cheap term. He had 3 years worth of cheap term. Now he only has 1. His price has gone down significantly.</div></div>
Chychrun had two and some change on his deal when Ottawa got him but sure. Whatever floats your boat.
And the 3rd was conditional, came very close to being a 2nd for Hanifin but if you want to say that was for retention then, again, sure.
If Chychrun’s being traded at the deadline then maybe it can be used as a comparable but as it stands it’s not entirely helpful.

Should’ve just drafted him in 2016, I don’t think swapping Brady out for him is the redo the Sens need.
Not convinced it would make either team better as well. Adding an elite piece in one area but creating a massive hole in another to the point that both teams are probably asking themselves if theyre any further ahead.

You’re literally quoting something I said to someone else instead of what was addressed to you, which I think was a very reasonable reply.

Have to agree with some of the others not a huge fan of Laughton or this deal as is.
If TK wants out then best case scenario Ottawa tries to parlay Chych or assets from a Chych deal into a swap.
If it’s straight picks then I think a mid 1st or a late 1st plus a B prospect or another pick.

Yeah I’m not a fan of that return for Chrychrun either.
Tvr is okay but by no means the prize of any trade. I might even prefer Kasty to Dowd and the 1st isn’t even this year…
I would hope this offer is beaten by another team or Ottawa just keeps Chych and figures it out.

My Custom Roster
I like Coleman’s game and we all know that type of play is especially useful come playoff time but Ottawa would have to be head over heels for him to consider that swap.
The odds of his play falling off in the last three years of his deal isn’t something that I think is properly offset by a 2nd and late 3rd when compared to Chabot.
I’d pass on that one but I think Philly would pass on the Norris deal purely because of the value even with Ottawa taking Risto back it would still be a huge risk for them.

You say this like a 1st, 2nd/3rd and a body isn’t a better deal than what was proposed here. On top of that Hanifin was traded at the deadline.
Regardless, two years of Chychrun vs one year of Chychrun… it was always a rental just one had more time on it. Hope this helps.

I actually enjoy seeing the Seb’s logo pop up in acgm’s!! I just wish the offers were a little more realistic sometimes. Not to say this one was bad by any means. It’s all for fun regardless, I’m sure someone else will take Brady’s spot as the acgm darling soon enough.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Ottawa isn't going to recoup what they gave up for him.
I said already he gets more than this, but that doesn't mean going from the '25 1st to the 13th pick this year.</div></div>
13 is nowhere near ‘recouping’ what they paid for him when the price was originally 12, 49 and an additional 2nd…
My point was just that 13th would be a legitimate offer. That’s all. If Minnesota isn’t willing to pay that, it’s water under the bridge. I just don’t think Staios would listen on the ‘25 1st+ if the plus isn’t significant and the ‘24 1st is sitting right there.
