Description
Not perfect but plenty of cap flexibility. The Flames probably need to draft an Dman with top-4 potential if they don't got a guy in the pipeline already.

Resigned Backlund at 3mx3 with the assumption that he's selected as the Captain.

Don't pay too much attention to Dube and Kylington's extensions, just seeing if they could afford to pay top 6 and top 4 D. They'll have ~1.5m/player to sign 8 more guys, or 1m/player to sign 7 if, they have another 5m top 4 D under contract.

Vladar will almost certainly be dealt this current offseason.

Even if a Hanifin for Nylander trade is made more cap would have to be going in Toronto's direction for the Flames to be cap compliant (and that's already assuming Vladar is moved to make the current roster compliant).

I just wanted to see if they could even keep the group moving forward, and they probably could even though it would be tight for a year or so.

As for the current roster, I'm assuming both Hanifin and Mangiapane are dealt for Nylander in terms of roster players, which would give them 5m to fill 5 spots which would be incredibly tight still but it's still possible, especially if they can replace Vladar at half the cost.

I doubt Mangiapane is dealt at all. He had a very down year in comparison to the previous few years. He should absolutely bounce back and even potentially be considered underpaid next year

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Mangiapane does bounce back but if he does, then I doubt they would be able to keep him around if they do indeed make a big addition which is why I included. I was also think of this in the context of keeping Lindholm as well. Dealing him would be problematic, but it could open up options.

Something that I noticed is that if the Flames do go after a top 6 forward, it's probably going to have to be someone in the 7M range or lower, so for trades that probably limits them to Nylander, Keller, the WPG guys if they are made available. Maybe they go for Brock Boeser as a bounce-back candidate. I wonder if that means they are going to sign a ufa like Tarasenko or a guy like Bunting who is really just a top 9 F.

Well i think you are viewing it differently from me. I think Dube would be the player involved in a trade before Mangiapane. In this scenario you have Dube essentially getting the Mangiapane contract so that's a net zero change
