Again, I'd be happy with Morrow and a first. That said, even though it's a speculative article these guys know way more than you or I, so I stand by my trade.

Honestly I'd be happy with Morrow and a first but Sportsnet had it at a much higher price. Guess we'll have to wait and see. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/four-potential-trade-destinations-and-proposals-for-bo-horvat/

Honestly who cares? I did this one for any team that would be ok taking that cap space for 1 year since after his 5 million dollar signing bonus is paid any team that takes him will be paying one year at only $1 million in actual salary and would get an upgraded draft pick for it. It could be Arizona or Seattle or whoever, someone will do it. Only thing that would prevent it is he has a modified no move. Either way, I still left 6 million in cap space so I could just bury him in the minors or keep him on the team and it wouldn't make a difference to the team assembled.

Just taking what Sportsnet put together, from someone who knows better than both of us... I actually left their suggested 3rd rounder out because I thought it was too steep. Here's the article: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/four-potential-trade-destinations-and-proposals-for-bo-horvat/

Question for you: He's an RFA this year. How much do you think Philly will try to resign him for? What's their max?

Traded for his RFA rights. Reports say Foote will be exposed in the expansion draft because you can only protect 3 D and he's an RFA. This way they get something for him that's a decent prospect but one that is not eligible for the expansion draft.

Reports say Foote will end up exposed in the expansion draft because you can only protect 3 d (or 8 total). This way they get a prospect, not as good but decent and Woo doesn't need to be protected in expansion.

Seattle Kraken Take1
Eriksson will have 1 year left in his contract at that time and will only be owed $3 million in real dollars. Canucks would be better off waiting the year or even buying him out and paying $1 million AAV for the following year rather than give a promising prospect and a second rounder for him. Maybe they'd be willing to give a mid round pick with that contract.... maybe a 2nd rounder but definitely no Rathbone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>I can't see either Hughes or Pettersson signing those deals. I'd say something like 3 years at $5.5m for Hughes and then tryin to sign Pettersson long-term for 8 x $9.5m would be the best direction to go with those two.
And I don't think Benning signed Demko for $5m just to sign another guy to $4m -- and there is probably a 0% chance now that Holtby goes to SEA. There are too many much more appealing options to choose from unfortunately.</div></div>
I think you'd be hard-pressed to get Hughes for $5.5, especially for 3 years. Consensus seems to be Pettersson and Hughes will combine for $15 million on 2 year bridge deals... which means Benning will give them at least $16-$17!

After Overpaying Pearson
I think I need to clarify... I don't think Pearson is a bad player. I just think they could definitely have gotten him for a little less than what they paid. All the pundits say the same: either should have gotten him for around $2.75 or someone similar for less with more money to put elsewhere. $500k could go a long way these days. For the record I also think they could have gotten Demko (who I'm optimistic about) for a number closer to $4.5 if they negotiated harder with him. That contract makes me nervous.

After Overpaying Pearson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>They gave him maybe 500k too much. I'm not sure why everyone is acting like that's the end of the world. Especially given his his presence has helped Bo out so much. This is different than the bottom six contracts of old in that Pearson is not a bottom six guy, and is not as old as the others. Its a little bit much, bot not to make such a huge stink over (not pointing it at you, but in general fans).
However, in regard to this build, I wouldn't make this much of a stink about Pearson then go out and sign Cizikas to that. Yes, Cizikas might be part of one of the best fourth lines in the league, but, just that - FOURTH line. Team needs a better 3C, not another year of 2 4th lines. I like Lowry more; he's out of cost probably, but I don't really see the fit for Cizikas on Vancouver.</div></div>
I can see your point. I looked at Czikas to fill their need for a good defensive third liner to take defensive minutes away from Bo. But your right he is a very good fourth liner. Maybe Haula would be better and cheaper. I wish they thought to do that this year...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TowelPower</b></div><div>Pearson is not an overpayment. Is he having a down year, yes. He would have made more or similar to his current contract in FA.
Pearson took a discount because he wanted the NTC. He clearly likes the culture in VAN, hence the reason he took less money</div></div>
I have nothing against Pearson but I don't think he would have gotten that in the open market (Dhaliwal today said he spoke to other agents and they agree he should have been under $3,000,000). Even if he did get that in the open market he would be a third liner on a good team and the Canucks could use the Pearson money and a bit more for a good second liner (Toffoli signed for $1,000,000 more).

Offer-Sheetin in a Pandemic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BStinson</b></div><div>32OV is more than fair/overpay and then you attach Baertschi to the deal so hard no. Demko was mediocre during regular season and had three great games in the playoffs. I’d rather go after Markstrom like the rumor and keep the 32OV. Pass on the Detroit deals and I don’t thinks we should even look at exploring them.</div></div>
That was supposed to be the DET 2nd rounder from Washington (thumb must have slipped). Baertschi is only making actual 2.4 mill for 1 more year and is a decent top 6 player (better than Gagner). Only reason Demko would be traded is because Markstrom resigns with a NMC. Otherwise Demko would be taken in expansion. He's well regarded around the league and would be the Canucks goalie of the future if not for this situation. According to reports here not wanting to give Markstrom a NMC until after yr 1 is the main sticking point in negotiations because they may want to leave him unprotected in expansion rather than Demko. I don't know Detroit's goalie prospects but someone would definitely take this deal

Maybe. Just chose them because I read somewhere they might be a landing spot for Sutter as they need penalty killers. I adjusted to retain 1 million in salary, meaning the actual out of pocket for him would be 2.5 million for Buffalo. Mackewen has now made the NHL. Likely a serviceable 4th liner but honestly interchangeable in the deal.

2022: Edler deal done: 6 mil gone, Juolevi, Rathbone or other in at 900k. Pearson UFA, replaced by Podkolzin 900k, Dell UFA, replaced by hopefully Dipietro or other cheap placeholder, Erikson finally moveable due to only 3 mill actual salary (probably have to retain 2 million), Retained 1 mill on Sutter gone due to UFA, bury Beagle in minors, save almost 1.1 mill, lose a player in expansion (unknown salary) probably have to trade Myers (modified NTC) which shoild be doable as he only has 13 million left in real salary for 3 years at that point
