New Habs
Dont risk the long term future of the franchise for a killer contract like Huberdeau's. I know it a high risk/high reward type of thing but even if he does bounce back, he is 30 and doesnt fit the timeline.
I dont watch enough of the Rangers so I might be wrong, but take out Armia and the 2nd and the Rangers might consider. I dont really want laffy tho, he needs to go to a smaller market than NY or MTL. Hed fit well in the Central.
The absolute Maximum we are getting for eddy is a 2nd and a C level prospect, maybe B level if retention. Dont expect a Ben Chiarot type of trade.

Its a really different situation but I agree that the value just isnt there for the trade. It would have to be a three way imo because we dont have a guy that can help you now, and we're not gonna give up Caufiled or Suzuki.
Only realistic option would be Matheson but you already have to pay Miller so bringing in more salary just isnt a good option for you, and Kent likely will want to keep him.

You dont appear to be a big thinker so im gonna explain it to you slowly:
Ever heard of a rebuild? Its a process in which you sell your players that dont fit your timeline in hopes of recovering future assets to become competitive is the future. You usually trade these players to teams that we call ''playoffs contenders''. This is what we call the sabres. The sabres are currently relying on a 41 years old and a guy who just gave up 10 to the stars and rocks a 3.95GAA to play goalie. This is why you add a top5 goalie in the NHL, in this case, Connor Hellebuyck. Connor is there to make you team better so that your teams win more games and then maybe has a chance at winning the cup. If it doesnt make sense, read it again until it does.

Ahhh yes, evaluating a defensive defenseman on points on the team with the 28th ranked offense. And we all know plus minus isnt a reliable stat. And like I pointed it out in my recent comment, Tampa did with david savard, Florida gave up even more for Ben Chiarot, Philly giving up a 14th overall and a 2nd for Ristolainen are some notable exemple of the top of my head. We can also look at all the 3rd liners who fetched 1rst rounder + other assets.

I dont think he says no, late 1rst rarely turns out into something and you guys are in win now mode.
Eddy can be a great 3rd pairing guy who plays physical, brings leadership and can play top 4 in the case of injuries for 1,7 mil is actually pretty good. We have seen this kind of trade, like when TBL gave their 1rst for Savard (they won the cup as a reminder)
1rst rounders are the most overvalued assets in the NHL, specially when its in the 25-32 range. Its basically trying to find a needle in a haystack at that point. Rangers wouldnt turn down a garranted asset who helps them win now over a maybe who could be something in 5 years, when Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider and Trouba are all 35+ years old

I'm betting Moser and Valimaki become the second pair by the end of next season, they've been killing it out there.</div></div>
Myers is the reason why I dont watch canucks game, because I get mad when I see that someone that bad at hockey gets paid 6M. He is a 6'7 pylon of defensive mistakes and bad penalities. Sign me to a league min contract and I'd be less of a nuisance.

Sabres can have potentially 3 (3 out of tage, skinner, cozens, jack Quinn if he takes a leap) 40 goal scorers next year, not sure we would pay that price for another. I'm well aware of who Kyle Connor is and he's a stud but the sabres are building what should be a perennial contender in a few years and they shouldn't damage that for short term success again</div></div>
You dont seem to realise that giving up only this for Kyle Connor, who is more of a 50 goal scorer that a 40, would be a steal on its own. Adding Hellebuyck just makes its even better for you. Also says assuming thats Hellebuyck resigns

It was reported by Friedman that no team has interest with Mike Hoffman, so its dellusional to think were gonna get a 3rd a 6th for him. Even if he puts up points, he isnt playing well.
Whats even more dellusional is to think that we can get a 2nd and Kratsov for retention and byron, who isnt gonna play. Most we're gonna get is a 4th. Add to it that lots of teams are ready to retains so maybe more like a 5th. Thats the return Minnisota received in the O'reilly trade.
