1 Year Deal For Taylor Hall
I think Pit should make every attempt at going for it for the next few years so I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea. Sid Malkin and Letang probably still have a couple good years left so why not. However, if Hall is willing to sign a 1 year deal when he could probably get term somewhere, I think he would be better off going with the Avs for a year where they have a better shot. Even if it is few a few less $.

Trading away NHL caliber centers because you have some decent prospects is a bad idea. I'd keep Tierney around unless somebody offers an overpay that you can't refuse.

Ottawa Hainsey Johnson
I'd take this deal. Even if Johnson was much worse a 2nd rounder is decent, plus its not like Hainsey is a key piece on Ottawas blue line. However I'm not sure Melnyk would allow it.

I think Ottawa can do better for Pageau. Not that I think he's worth much more but based on current circumstances he should get a better return than that

Tell that to the 2020 draft simulator that I have clicked more times than I'd like to admit. Ottawa got 1 and 2 like one time I think, so jokes on you

I'd wait and see until they get some time in the NHL before claiming a big victory

Pageau and Smith and Marleau
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KoneDome</b></div><div>Agreed. Probably a bit of an overpay, but I think Pageau would fit really well in their bottom 6.</div></div>
Pageau is a great 3rd line role playing C. Valuable to a playoff team. I think Pit could try to squeeze something better than a 4th out of Ottawa to balance it out. Even if they overpay I think it's worth it to take as many shots as they can while Sid and Malkin are still playing at the level they are.

Anyway, are you actually suggesting a team would turn down a 1st for 1 year of a 5.75m cap hit?</div></div>
Now you're speaking Senators language. This would be a vintage Melnyk trade.

Two Small Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bigZ98</b></div><div>Yeah but what I am saying is that he wont be producing like he is now if thats why the trade is being done. A 1st for a PK (of which we have plenty already) and role player (again, have plenty) is too much to pay. if it was a lower price (which it wont be because some team will for sure overpay for him) i would be okay with it</div></div>
Agreed. The only reason I think this would be considered is because a) the first will likely be on the lower end and b) they get a mid 2nd back. As a sens fan I'm hoping there is somewhat of a bidding war between a few teams because getting that much for a 3rd line player would be amazing.
