Ultimate TDL
I mean if the Flames were selling I think I'd be okay with this but ultimately it's really unlikely they move on that quickly from a guy they just got back in a big deal. I'd be less surprised if it was Hanifin that ended up moving.

Deadline moves 1st try
I'll admit as a Flames fan I know nothing about Mayfield but what I do know is that Calgary shouldn't move thier first rounder this year for anything but a top 6 forward and maybe not even then if they don't turn it around soon.

Leafs Trade For Huberdeau Plus Other Pieces
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>It doesn't matter what he did on Florida. On Calgary he isn't working out, plus he has a huge extension. Flames will have to pay to move him. That is, if his game doesn't rebound next year, which is a big question mark.</div></div>
So we should just ignore 10 seasons and trade him based off of 50 games? It's literally been been half a season... I think he'll figure it out eventually

Leafs Trade For Huberdeau Plus Other Pieces
I really can't tell if this is a joke or not. A guy who has averaged 0.89 ppg prior to this season has "negative value" and the only possible way the Leafs could be enticed to take on his services is to be compensated with a top pair defenceman on a steal of a contract. Elite level bait for sure.

Going for the Big Splash
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>This definitely feels like a trade Sharks would take. Like you said, giving up alot but I can't think of a team that needs Meier more. Perfect fit.
One note: can they do 8x$8 mil or 8x$9 mil next year on the cap?</div></div>
That's just it, the Flames would have to send a roster player with term and a decent salary back to afford Meier past this season, maybe even two. It would make it a bit complicated from the Sharks perspective but they could flip any roster players the Flames include for more.
A more feasible deal for Calgary with cap considerations would be something like Mangiapane, Zary, Kylington, and maybe a conditional second that turns into a 1st if Kylington doesn't come back. Not sure if that's the best offer on the table for the Sharks though if they're looking purely for futures.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J67</b></div><div>Ok I'm habs fan, and some people tend to judge others by their favorite team. Why? To my opinion, that Andersen deal is also to much.
And a late 1st pick is no better than Dube to be honest. It's 50 % chance that it will be a flop.
To me Andersen is a big, fast and a streaky scorer with an average hockey IQ. But he proved that he is a playoff performer and it's valuable to any team who want to be a contender.</div></div>
Hey unless you're an Oilers fan I don't judge anyone's favourite team, just a comment on the fact that most bad Anderson deals are posted by Habs fans. Everone overvalues their own players so it's not a jab at Habs fans in particular.
I've already explained why Calgary wouldn't do it, I can't speak for other contenders but I would imagine most if not all would be scared by his cap hit as a start.

I'm not taking it personally, there's just a lot of deals that send Anderson to the Flames that are really bad. I outlined why it doesn't make sense from multiple persepctives.

MAYBE your opinion isn't the best?</div></div>
Yes because GM's and their staffs never make mistakes. But you're right, all it takes is one GM to meet the valuation from Hughes to make a deal. My opinion is that it's a mistake to value him that highly and that it would be a bad idea for the Flames to make that deal from a variety of standpoints that I'm sure the Flames staff have significantly more insight into than I do. If I can identify flaws in the deal with the limited info I have, I'm sure smart hockey ops people can as well.

I've seen all the justifications out there, the bottom line is this: He's being paid 5.5 million and has 1 point less than Adam Ruzicka who's making close to league minimum. He has an extensive injury history. He does not fill a hole on the Flames roster that could not be filled by a cheaper and younger option. We don't need anymore penalty killers, Dube is a great penalty killer already and is making half of what Anderson is making.
The Flames have 3 million in cap space next year to fill out the bottom of the roster and that includes Lucic's salary coming off the books. If Calgary makes any trades at all this year, they should target a top-6 winger with term that they can resonably work around. Anderson does not make sense for this team in any shape or form nor should Calgary be willing to move roster players or any of our top prospects, of which we have very few, for a player that would most likely be deployed on the 4th line. Adding Anderson would cost us a good roster player after next year because of the cap sapce he takes up as well.

Sure the Habs might value him as a 1st + and I'm not saying it's not possible but there's no chance it's the Flames that make that trade especially at that price. We can't afford Anderson, he doesn't upgrade what we already have, and we'd be thinning our already shallow pool of prospects. The Flames haven't shown any reason to think this is the year to throw some chips in a go for it not do I think Anderson is the guy that makes any difference to our situation.

I don't even think the Flames would do Andersson for DeBrincat one for one let alone adding Mangiapane on top. All this does is create a massive hole on the Flames top pair while getting an moderate upgrade in the top 6.

I could imagine Guentzel/Sid/Tkuchuk line; it would be the best line in the NHL. And then Lucic/Geno/Rust. Lucic is the kind of player that plays well on Geno’s line. See J.Iginla, James Neal, Hossa, Hornqvist, Downie.
And Matheson/Tanev would be a really good D pairing in my opinion too. Both super fast, long sticks and long reaches on defense.
And then sign the big, physical Luke Schenn as the 3rd pairing RHD to play with PO Joseph.</div></div>
Man if only Calgary had a franchise cornerstone player that's young and dynamic to build around... Oh wait. Seriously even if Calgary was rebuilding, Tkachuk would be the last guy to go. Maybe you'd be interested in a slightly used Sean Monahan?

Lol and yet here we are both not in the playoffs. I'm not gonna weigh in on the pissing match going on here but the trade doesn't make sense for the flames. Marners contract would cause headaches for the us and we don't want prospects and futures. Our core has under performed sure but we're not rebuilding but you're really only giving us 1 bona fide piece for 2 of our best forwards. Tkachuk only gets moved for a no.1 center, Lindholm should not be available at all.

The Flames aren't looking for futures, they're not rebuilding, the narrative all season for us has been we need to shake up the core, not sell off pieces. The value is probably fair but this really isn't the direction the Flames want to go in.

This is the deal for Eichel, like I really don't see any other package that makes sense for both sides. Our RW depth is still a problem but that first line would be an absolute nightmare to play against.
