Edmonton Oilers signed Connor Ungar (2 Years / $860,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KiSS_My_Asthma</b></div><div>To me, this signals Edmonton is buying out or moving on from Jack Campbell and they are slotting in Rodrigue to an NHL roster next season.
Fanti, Ungar, Day, and Jonsson will fill out the ECHL and AHL teams.</div></div>
I can't see this as the goalie roster. That's 1 injury away from having 0 NHL experience in net. Oilers will sign 1-2 goalies with NHL experience if they buyout Campbell. Jonsson could stay in Sweden and Day might return to Firebirds.

An optimistic next few months for the New York Islanders
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>Who are you expecting to take Kulak ?</div></div>
Kulak has been pretty good. Oilers won't have the cap space for 4-5M on 3rd pairing with the dead cap next year.
He could possibly fit on Flyers or Canes if Skjei doesn't re-sign

Broberg likely has more value to the Oilers then Wahlstrom at this point. Oilers will probably try to move on from Kulak in the offseason for cap reasons leaving that #3LD wide open.

Losing ground in the market
Not sure why Oilers need to blow the price set by Vegas out of the water.
Henrique (50%) = Mantha (50%) = 2nd + 4th
Carrick = 4th or 5th
Package should be 2nd + 3rd or 2nd + two 4ths

Oilers trade makes no sense if they don't want Brown using space he just gets waived.

Crazy Trade Deadline Idea
Retaining 500k for a 3rd team wouldn't cost a 3rd and 6th. Probably just the 6th, maybe a 5th.
Way too much going on in the Nashville trade for it to even be a possibility regardless of value

The cap hit belongs to Edmonton now regardless if it's this year or next. Can't be traded. No team trading for him will get compensation for it.

Doubt Blues would want to use 2 retention spots in 1 trade far more likely they would retain bigger amount on Buch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>PIT would not be the team paying MTL anything to double retain on Guentzel, so we’ll be keeping our 7th in this scenario.
Also, MTL is not getting a 2nd from EDM for 1.5 million of retained salary. Try a 4th.</div></div>
EDM also wouldn't need double retention with Foegele going the other way.

How much is Elvis
I don't think Elvis fits in Edmonton as Skinner is the starter and Elvis wants to be a starter. Also his 5.4M cap hit doesn't really work with Oilers cap situation.

How much is Elvis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Holy, did he really say that? That's a crazy high price, but I guess GMs are looking at it as $15M+ to an AHL goalie and at best $3.8M in dead cap for 3 full years. Also add on that Edmonton can be heavily leveraged since they can't waste more years of McDavid and Draisaitl. Buying late 1sts at $5M a pop ends up sounding kinda expensive.</div></div>
There's zero chance they trade 3 firsts to dump even 2 is too much. Use the 1sts to buy players with good contracts then buyout Campbell.. so much more value

Apart from the Oilers trading a 1st for an almost equally bad goalie when the buyout is 1.1M for the first year

To make this deal worth it for the Caps it would probably be Campbell+1st+1st+Holloway</div></div>
Yea, Pretty sure Oiler fans need to give up the idea that Campbell gets dumped its far too expensive. Using those assets to pick up value contracts and buying out Campbell feels like the better option to me.

He wouldnt be in the habs top 4 by the time they are ready to contend we have better options</div></div>
The reason they didn't sign him long term was cap space. End of story. Also sidenote about his defence Bouchard actually has the lowest xGA/60 of the Oilers blueliners.

Fairly sure, this contract is lower then what McLeod would have been awarded in arbitration solely based on Kurashev getting 2.25M

SOOOOOO PUMPED
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>I don't really get why Joseph costs that much to dump. He's pretty solid and he's young just entering his prime. If MTL didn't have an overflow of middle 6 wingers I'd be glad to grab him</div></div>
I mean Edmonton had to use Kostin rights to move Yamamoto and he had better numbers then Joseph without the 2 extra years. Also Yamamoto only required a 1/3 buyout, Joseph would be a 2/3 buyout if he doesn't work out.
