Oilers and a massive improvement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>Didn’t Washington do that with Orpik? Or did they change the rule after that?</div></div>
They allowed the Orpik one as there was nothing written about that situation but stated after that it would no longer be an option as it "wasn't in the spirit of the salary cap"

Won't cost that much to dump Keith his salary is almost nothing. Arizona could take a mid pick and gain 4.5M salary for 500k real dollars after buyout exactly what floor teams are looking for.
Goalie situation isn't good, and Bourgault isn't going to play 4th line C

My take on a Puljujarvi trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MP55</b></div><div>I think one of the sportsnet hockey guys reported the ask was a late second or third. The former fourth overall pick argument I think is irrelevant, or else the Habs should get the moon for former third overall pick Drouin.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Anus_McLeod</b></div><div>I saw that on Sportsnet too. My thought is at least a couple teams bid up the price. Puljujarvi has some pretty strong underlying numbers, and there is probably still some degree of a premium from draft status (although I agree it's probably not much at this point).</div></div>
That journalist is a dickbag. Straight from Holland today "I'm not going to just give him away" Oilers want a player that can help them win in return. Has nothing to do with former 4th overall, it's the fact he had 0.55PPG while be sound defensively and increased production of every line he played on whether it was McD, Drai or Nuge as center.

I know a lot of speculation about 2nd or 3rd rounder from a certain terrible journalist article but straight from Holland today "I'm not going to give him away" also mentioned Oilers would be looked for a player that could help them win now as return.

No way Bouchard is considered in a Gibson trade. He had similar even strength points to other D like Fox, Hughes, Burns, Ekblad, McAvoy, etc.. and Bouchard was basically in his rookie year while playing like 2-4 fewer minutes.

One Spicy Quesadilla
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>Chicago is not in the position to be spending picks on players. However Frost is still sort of young right… what’s the update on him?</div></div>
"Recording just 16 points in 55 games, the verdict is still out on whether Frost can one day serve a role as a dynamic point producer at the NHL level. Considering he will be an RFA this offseason, Philadelphia will likely give him one more shot to prove himself on a short-term team-friendly contract. If the Flyers can add to their center depth this offseason, Frost might find himself as a regular on the wing, which some feel will be his permanent place in the pro ranks. Of course, the chance Philadelphia packages him in a trade while attempting to execute their aggressive retool remains possible. In terms of Frost’s NHL ceiling, there is still some optimism that he can put it together and become a legitimate top-six forward. However, the clock is ticking". - John Gove

He also wasn’t good enough to play for you guys in the playoffs - not belittling him as I want to trade for him obviously. I edited the trade.</div></div>
Oilers had Nurse, Keith and Kulak on LD after the deadline so wasn't really room for Broberg (rookie) in the playoffs this year. Moving forward Keith has 1 year max remaining here and Kulak isn't signed yet so Broberg has a spot on the Oilers shortly.
Husso rights are probably worth a 5th rounder not a top4 D prospect.

Pretty sure Oilers decline this trade even with the 2nd added.
That trade doesn't get you #8 OA in the draft why would it get you former #8 defenseman with 3 years of development.

Swinnys offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>A smarter GM plays Skinner in Bakersfield this year and has him up for 23-24 imo. Smith and Skinner as the tandem is just as bad as Smith and Koskinen. Holtby at least brings some stability. If the old guy goes down, bring in Skinner. Something about goaltending depth. Ask a Leafs fan about that.
Further, imo, McLoed is not where near $1.8 million per yet. Looked good during the season for sure, not that good. Even 1 year at the $900kto see what happens. No way I sign him to $1.8 million.
And lastly, unless a magic wand is waived and Holland finds a taker for Kassian, you are not getting a full roster bud.</div></div>
Skinner has been one of the best goalies in AHL last 2 years and loses his waiver exemption.. He is on the Oilers or another NHL teams roster next year.

Its more likely Bourgault just plays RW along side McD or Drai then driving his own line so early in his career.

Ceci was clearly playing as a top4 all last year.
Skinner is lost to waivers here. That's your potential young starting goalie gone for nothing.
Yamamoto hasn't earned a 4.5M contract especially at 5 year term.
Kane wants more then that.
No room for call ups. 1 injury away from disaster.

That because Flyers had so many injuries he was given minutes with top 6 players not a 4th line C role you have shown above. The Oilers used him in bottom 6 role and he got 3 points in 15 games.

TB trade never happens TB too tight on cap to spend extra on Foegele vs Perry.
You missed Puljujarvi.
Brassard didn't get in games with Oilers no point in re-signing him.

Toying with DAL and EDM 3 way trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>I've seen trades where EDM either gives Barrie away or trades him straight up for lesser pieces. The best thing you get from trading him is his freed up cap space. I'm also working under the assumption Smith retires and Mayfield extends</div></div>
So if Smith retires the Oilers waste the cap space on a guy that was getting roasted in NHL and AHL last year? Barrie moved for picks maybe not to bring in wasted cap space that defeats the purpose of moving him. Maybe JP for Mayfield with extension if its reasonable caphit.
