The big deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I'd rather the Sabres target some defensive d, nasty ones, for their third pair. Time to get tougher to play against. The Sabres 5 best d are all lefties, but dahlin can play the right side. Reinbacher would be nice, but with dahlin, power, and Byram here, I don't think reinbacher is adding anything we don't have. And if it costs Quinn, I wouldn't do it.</div></div>
Visions of a top4 that has: Byram-Dahlin & Power-Reinbacher would be pretty amazing though
We could do that deal and STILL have plenty of firepower up front- and plenty coming still
And we could still have room to get tougher to play against as well
I like Quinn a lot, but that’s tempting af

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boos</b></div><div>Nobody wants a perennial 25-30 goal scorer who's hit 40 goals once and 30 goals five times including the last two seasons for Buffalo?
For a $4.5M cap-hit?</div></div>
No way Sabres pay 3x4,5M for Skinner not to play for them. They wont find player to replace Skinner for 4,5M they are freeing. Only scenario is for someone taking full contract for future considerations.

It’s not about the total $$$ though
I’m talking strictly about Cap hit, bc without Skinner wanting to leave, that’s the only reason we could possibly want to move him
The main point I’m trying to make is that we simply aren’t gonna move him

Skinner Asks Out
jeff skinner isnt asking out. The guy said no to LA and yes to BUF so he could be closer to Toronto. He's not leaving unless its for the leafs and theyd have to gut their whole roster to make room for his cap hit.

He is an excellent development coach and has helped several players immensely.
But he is out coached tactically and doesn't seem to have any answers.
He's a good coach at the beginning on a rebuild to get young players going, but he can't coach when it matters. Unfortunately
Also, his GM/owner doing nothing for 2 years doesn't help

This Avs fan would do that in a heartbeat. It's an overpay for Colton if you ask me.
At the same time, I think he brings a lot of what Buffalo needs. Maybe there is something here.

Next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>About the same as Casey Mittelstadt’s value was when he was 23 years old.</div></div>
Mittelstadt was much more advanced at this point in his career than Krebs currently is.
Mittlestadt through age-23 season: 195 GP, 33 G - 47 A - 80 PTS, 14:25 TOI. Averages out to about 34 pts/82 GP.
Krebs through age-23 season: 203 GP, 19 G - 44 A - 63 PTS, 13:35 TOI. Averages out to about 25 pts/82 GP.
And if you want to point out that Krebs has been saddled with less offensive linemates, you have to then also acknowledge that early in Mittlestadt's career some of his most common linemates were the likes of Rasmus Asplund, Conor Sheary, Jimmy Vesey, and pre-breakout Tage Thompson.
I don't think Krebs is a bum, but at this point his value seems to lie more in hoping a change of scenery helps him than in his former draft pedigree.

I'll admit I thought he had 2 years left. Let's pretend it's a 2025 protected 1st.

I think you are overpaying for Krebs, the late first is probably fine if the Sabres are gonna move him. As far as undersized forwards go, Farrell would be an interesting player if we weren't already loaded to the gills with undersized forward prospects. The smaller guys aren't on everybody's wish list, but I would think would want him if you wanna move him.
