I watch a lot of Hockey East. Merrimack went from finishing 2nd in HE (both regular season and playoffs) and making the NCAAs to 2nd last in HE this year. Merrimack was very injured all year, and they missed 3 top 4 dmen (on top of other players) for varying parts of the season that added up. The dip wasn't on him, he still stole them a few games down the stretch. But goalies are voodoo like you said. His size certainly makes him a super interesting guy to follow lol

Lmao Rangers wouldn't give you Laf for Chychrun 1 for 1, especially with 1 year left on his deal lmao. No reason in trading Schneider for that either. Nashville also isn't trading you their goalie of the future for an average goalie prospect and a late first in a shallow draft when they wanted #5 overall for him (in a better draft) last year.

Unless that guy is untouchable, which every NYR source has reported is the case lmao. Plenty of other assets and plenty of other teams to trade with. You're not getting Perreault, nobody is right now.
So one last time for you, since it isn't sinking in.

Perreault isnt Forsberg good but you are also adding 2 players that can help you win a cup while dumping a horrible contract but yes Kuzy for Smith lol good add</div></div>
It's too bad that draft theory was debunked the week it came out by the Rangers' beat. I bet Caps fans also didn't think Forsberg was gonna be Forsberg good either lmao. Lastly, they're not using a high end prospect to dump Goodrow lmao. He can be bought out if they really want come June without major repercussions.

Yes, why would the Rangers value Gabe Perreault over their probable late 1st this year (in a weaker draft) when they could make a Forsberg for Erat type trade to a division rival! Maybe you could trade Kuznetsov to San Jose for Will Smith next!!

50/50 on the Rangers deal. I can see them accepting it but also can see them declining it because of Sykora.</div></div>
48 hours later, would love this from the Rangers end lol. Gourde also has an extra year on the contract, and Sykora's projected behind Laf, Perreault, Othmann... and I'd rather have Cuylle over him as well.

Still not worth the difference imo. Even in some bizarro world where the Rangers win the cup and say the Blackhawks finish dead last, that's still 32 picks apart. Pick 64 is worth double the value (in Game Score Value Added) as pick 97, so not worth it. Let's say the actual value is worth a 3rd for retention, based on precedent. The Rangers (or potentially Dallas') 3rd is not covering the difference in this scenario lmao.[/quote]

Actual Trade Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Kane's base salary last season was only $2.9M. The deadline is is about 2/3's of the season. $2.9M X 2/3 = $1.9M, $2.9M - $1.9M = $1M, and 25% of $1M is $250K. Kane was only owed $250K by AZ. Lindholm's base salary for this season is $4.85M. Which means, if this trade is at the deadline, and CHI retains 50%, that would leave CHI liable for $825K. That is more than what Kane was owed.</div></div>
Let's go back to 2022. Max Domi's salary was $6M. (with a cap hit of $5.3M). Florida retained half when he was traded to Carolina. $6M x 2/3= $4M, $6M-$4M=$2M, 25% of $2M is $500k.
His retention was traded for a 6th round pick and the rights to Yegor Korshkov, who was unsigned and is still in Russia.
Cap > real money to teams like the Rangers, and nobody has ever gotten a 2nd solely for retention. Don't care if you attach a 4th, doesn't make it worth it.

Arizona got a 3rd to retain 25% on Kane last year, which is less than 50% of Lindholm. So long story short you're not getting a 2nd to retain 50% on Lindholm
