Reloading for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dan_the_Man</b></div><div>Jeannot has had God awful luck with injuries since being acquired.</div></div>
Absolutely snake bitten since that meaningless Islanders game before the Leafs series, super tough loss. I genuinely feel bad for the guy and I'm more than willing to give him another chance in the squad, end of the day if we keep him either hope he finally gets back to his potential and gets close to 20 goals or use him as bait for a team needing a bottom 6 grinder at the deadline to gather some assets. If he doesn't get healthy, well new deadline LTIR candidate just dropped I guess.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dan_the_Man</b></div><div>So instead of working on our own reclamation project the GM absolutely loves, we take someone else's and pay someone to take ours ? Makes a lot of sense I guess ( not really)? Stamkos will sign in the 6-6.5 range in TB. He realizes cap is tight and wants the ring more.Duke probably in the 3.5 and with the savings I mentioned makes up the difference Jeannot and Kubalik. Back to Kubalik if you have to expect him not to play defense to be somewhat productive he won't be playing much for Jon Cooper.</div></div>
Yeah on board with this take exactly. Plus moving Jeannot won't look good for us considering the ransom we paid, but every GM misses at least once. Not sure sacrificing him for Kubalik would be much better, the dude just needs to stay healthy.

I'm not calling Hagel an underperformer, I love him and the dude is solid haha
I meant we've got some decent team friendly deals on the roster, no reason to trade them for a huge one and screw our situation further
Bob walled us and it absolutely sucked to lose this one

We're not trading two cost effective guys for one expensive guy who doesn't show up either

Need to improve the right side instead of the left, and we could have had Hanley on waivers last season
Wouldn't really call losing Sergachev an improvement either

Awful deal for TB, and why is Barre-Boulet still here? Have we not learned from all his previous stints that this guy is not an NHL-level player?

Would love Kapanen and Martinez if they sign those deals. Marty seems like the perfect 6th/7th defensive minded d-man to mentor guys like Croz and especially Lilleberg.
TB obviously says yes to that trade, though I'm not sure Buffalo does the same.
Edit: If we're signing Duke to a 3M deal, the least we can do is give him 1 more year or 2. I'm certain this guy is sick of being a journeyman and he's found his home quite well here in TB.

Is Rempe the new Boogieman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hckeydude123</b></div><div>Lets keep it real here, the Lightning are highly unlikely to make it out of the first round let alone win the cup.</div></div>
Alright well not sure what this year's playoffs has to do with discussing moving one of our star d-men next year when there's absolutely no reason to, but if we're keeping things real then Hedman probably has the state of California on his M-NTC list like most guys do because of taxes. Not to mention his whole life is in Tampa and would probably refuse to waive anyways. Management says they'll do everything to ensure the group remains competitive so until disaster strikes odds are they hold on till they end up in a bad spot, not to mention we'd have to resign Gavrikov, have an undersized replacement in Spence, and a reclamation project in Kaliyev.
I mean it's easy to say we don't have a chance in the toughest division when the pacific is that easy, but can't say your odds of a deep run or the cup are much better seeing as Vegas still has 2 games on you, so you can either go through McDavid and the Oilers, Vancouver or Dallas. Regardless if you think that little of Tampa I'm sure all the guys you mentioned are saving PLD, Cam Talbot and co a spot on the course when they're both inevitably eliminated :)

Is Rempe the new Boogieman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hckeydude123</b></div><div>The problem with that is if you continue to "gut" your bottom six every other year you won't have anything of value and you won't be very competitive shortly after. TBL only has a small handful of guys that have significant value to trade to keep this team going for years to come, guys like Stanmmer Point Kuch Cirelli Sergy Headman and maybe Cernak are the only guys they have they could actually get value for. All those guys are locked up long term except Headman and Stammer so if this team wants to be competitive 2 yrs from now than they are going to have to do something soon otherwise this team will hold out like CHI did without Kane and Towes and go into a super long depressing rebuild.</div></div>
But if we're trying to win now with this core, why would we care about significant value of our own guys to trade away? Outside of those guys you mentioned, Nick Paul has been a solid 3C setting a career high at a cost-effective deal, Glendening for close to league minimum has improved TB's faceoff%, something we desperately needed. Motte and Jeannot both bring energy to the lineup but unfortunately both have been banged up quite a bit. The only real miss in the bottom six is Sheary, but a buyout or trade with sweetener opens up space for Duclair + Stamkos.
There's no reason to gut the whole thing, move Sheary, play Goncalves/Groshev instead next season, and it's still younger fourth line than Maroon-Bellemare-Perry.

No reason to move a reliable top 4 producing d-man and veteran presence/mentor for our future guys like Crozier, Lilleberg, Schmidt, etc. If TB was looking to get younger, the bottom six would be gutted like we did this last off-season instead of moving our franchise D-man.

So glad we can finally stop talking that nonsense about Hanifin to TB. Actually allows us to preserve a decent top six forward group, something we all complained about during last off-season.
Can see Duke and Stamkos probably agreeing to that. Wouldn't mind another year of Duke either. Indifferent on a 7th D as long as do their job well enough.

How has Berggren been? He seems like he's having a good year in the system no?
I don't know if TB would want to move a 6'5 right shot defensive prospect after losing Thompson at the deadline for a left shot forward that doesn't really have a place in the NHL lineup

I like the Duke deal, though I think after being a journeyman for so long he might accept another year with maybe a bit of savings.
I'm personally okay with keeping Perbix as the 7th D-man or play him in sheltered 3RD minutes, he looked alright there. Need a bit more from Dumba but he's seemed alright.
Very skeptical of Sheary waiving his M-NTC to San Jose though, I don't think they'd be too interested in him. Won't have a list until July 1st but I think he'd want a contender or non-California/Canada team

Ideas for Offseason
Can't lie I don't mind us moving up in the draft. I know there's other Bolts fans who don't care about picks so long as it adds a roster player but I'm chill with it if there's a dude we want in that range. Having no 2nd next year might be a bit risky if UFA negotiations don't play out the way we want though.

I just can't see Stamkos willingly agree to that despite his reputation for taking discounts, as nice as it would be to keep him and add Hanifin.
Truly I wish we could stack the blueline but that forward core without paying the right pieces would be brutal.
