Glass stuck on the bench
Not sure how high his offensive ceiling is, but what about Blake Lizotte from the LA Kings? He has been noticeable so far this year, particularly his speed, and just turned 23. He plays on the 2nd line with Jeff Carter now, but with Gabe Vilardi and all the other centre prospects they have, does Lizotte fit in long-term?

Lines I want to see next game
He is not a top-six forward on a contending team, but I would like to see what Nico Sturm could do in an elevated role. He has looked fast out there so far this year.

Bonino
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Just out of curiosity, have you watched much of Ranta at the U? Because if you're looking at stat lines, look no further than Jack McBain, who, on paper, looks like he's having a breakout year on a good team with 8 points in 10 games, but in reality, is very likely to never even have an NHL career. Similar career stats as well. Would you take McBain right now over a 2nd because of his stat line?</div></div>
Jack McBain isn’t relevant to this conversation because Ranta and McBain are two different players playing two different positions, but to answer your questions, I have watched a lot of Gopher hockey this year and I would take McBain over a 2nd because he is closer to playing pro. This Wild team cannot rebuild due to the contracts on the books, and Sampo Ranta has looked ready for pro hockey this year.

Bonino
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>The benefit of receiving young players/prospects instead of picks is that you've had the opportunity to see them in their D+1 or D+2 or later years, thus reducing the risk of the asset/player/pick busting. Guerin will likely also want for the rebuild to be quick, and waiting 3-4 years to see if a prospect turns out might not be as appealing as getting an NHL ready prospect who can jump into the lineup to replace Bonino.</div></div>
Everything you have said in this thread is gold. It’s too bad we aren’t the GMs of our respective favorite teams so a deal could get done.

What about Sampo Ranta? He is tearing it up this year for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and would be interested in a trade around Bonino and Ranta.

But why
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>I'd be down for that potentially. Are you expecting any other assets to be included in the trade as well beyond Ranta?</div></div>
We’ll have to see the type of year Bonino has until the trade deadline, but as of right now, I don’t think any other significant assets would be needed. Bonino would not play top-six in Colorado even though he does in Minnesota. And he is on an expiring contract.

What about Sampo Ranta in the Nick Bonino trade? He has been a beast for the Golden Gophers this year.

Minnesota Wild signed Marcus Foligno (3 Years / $3,100,000 AAV)
People who are voting ‘No’ to the good signing poll have no idea how valuable defensively and in the locker room Marcus is to the Wild. They only look at points. The advanced stats speak for themselves.

If Ladd Also Goes to LTIR
I have been thinking now that the core is locked up and there is some cap space to work with, do you think a Zach Parise deal could be revisited after the expansion draft? He has a NMC and if the Isles were to acquire him now, they would lose a pretty good player to Seattle. But like you said, the time for the Isles to win is now.

There’s also Nate Schmidt in Vancouver. He would be an upgrade over Nick Jensen and would still fit under the cap.

Fold the Franchise and move to Houston
Drafting and releasing Mitchell Miller, losing draft picks for breaking league policy, having the General Manager abandon the team, going all in on Taylor Hall and failing to retain him only to see him sign in BUFFALO, consistently in the bottom 5 in league attendance. Relocate this garbage franchise. Why does the league continue to protect them?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchMarner_16</b></div><div>IMO you 'd be better off having Nylander over Fiala, and then get rid of some of the ELCs for longer term, cheap contracts.
Like look at how many guys would need huge raises in one year.
Hughes,
Savard
Heiskanen
Marino
Hart
Shesterkin
Svechnikov
Gallagher (Extension kicks in)
Fiala
Coleman
Tkachuk
and andrew copp.
Good luck keeping them all.</div></div>
I’m going to do another one today with your advice and tag you. Create a team with the same rules as this one, but sustainable success without cap trouble over the long-term.

I used analytics in my player decisions and most of these guys are favored in the analytics community. But yes, this team would be in trouble in a year. That’s why I tried to leave cap space this year instead of spending it all.

Barkov In A Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>Indeed. I thought the real tell was the NMC for Brodin, 4 years. But yes, we will have assets and I have to think we compete in 2-3 years. The addition of Brackett is going to add value to each of the picks we have and build that foundation. I don’t think we’d be cup competitive until Rossi enters his prime but I really do like the forward thinking.</div></div>
This is my personal opinion of the organization, but I have never been more excited for the future until Bill Guerin came along. I can honestly say I can see the direction he is going.
