I agree he’s been impressive but it’s a short sample size and he has come nowhere close to showing he can play 55-65 games and be a true #1. He’s a top ten (at worst) goalie in the league at 24. They’re not moving him. Blow their socks off with an offer and maybe, but this is pathetically short on value and fit

Next summer
My question is, what the heck do they do the following year? New contracts for Matthews, Nylander, Brodie, Liljegren, two of the left wingers, a goalie. Goes on and on. Seems like this keeps the gang together for one more season, and then it’s getting blown up.

I don’t see where the humor would be.
That would be an entirely different situation. Though he’s still not getting a top ten pick

One year at 6.4m and rfa rights after a 41 goal season (and 31 in 52 the previous year), vs just the rfa rights with a 9m QO coming off a 27 goal campaign….are you kidding me?

To me that’s a very biased look. He had a down year, and no longer has that attractive cheap year attached to him. Not only should it be less, it should be considerably less

You’d have to think that debrincat is worth considerably less now than he was a year ago

Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GoGuinsGo18</b></div><div>It's definitely light it'd definitely take more than a 3rd and POJ to get Ullmark (even if everyone knows Bruins have to sell to make room for Swayman) but I wouldn't call POJ a "trash d-man". He's 23 years old and was a +8 last year on a team that finished negative goal differential with 21 pts in 75 games (not being on the PP unless there were injuries) in basically his first season in the NHL. You'd buy him based on his potential. He's also a former first round pick. I just don't agree with that assessment. He's definitely light esp. for his size and he made some boneheaded mistakes and turnovers last year but he looked pretty good at times. I'd prefer we keep him unless the return is good. I wouldn't call him a "trash d-man" though. He's a definite starter in the league and again he's only 23.</div></div>
Context is everything. This isn’t taking a flyer on a young d man. This is the key piece coming back for Linus ullmark. In that context, he’s trash

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>That’s like saying “Connor McDavid sucks but since it’s subjective how can I back that up?” Do you realize how ignorant that sounds? Lol
Yea it’s a no from Boston because Ullmark isn’t waiving to Pittsburgh and because we aren’t moving our 2023 first. Has nothing to do with Smith and Joseph in the deal. Of which Boston isn’t going to even ask for those guys in the trade….</div></div>
It’s a no from boston because the value sucks. Let’s not change the hypothetical. Good teams don’t want players like POJ and smith. You think there’s maybe a reason smith spent two years in the NHL and then got demoted to the AHL? That’s pretty much he worst sign for a player.

What are you talking about? No one mentioned anything about this mock trade but you saying POJ and Smith “suck” in which you still haven’t backed up, other then saying a bunch of nothing lmao.</div></div>
It’s a subjective take…..how am i supposed to back that up? That’s like asking what someone’s favorite color is and then saying, “prove it.”
Actually everyone other than you that has weighed on this trade thinks its a no go from boston. Because of course.

Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockeyfan1234</b></div><div>It’s a very reasonable trade. Goalies just don’t hold as much value and teams know Boston is cap strapped. This fixes that. Boston has 4 LHD making 3+ million. They have only what? 10 million in cap space. The other option is teams make an offer on Swayman that Boston can’t afford and Boston gets less for one of their goalies 🤷♂️</div></div>
Noooo it’s ridiculous. F-. Terrible. vezina winning goalie with 2x5 left on his deal for a 3rd and a trash d man? That’s clinically insane. Psychiatric team insane.
Maybe the bruins have to trade ullmark. That’s a very reasonable assertion, your first of the thread. There are THIRTY other teams that could offer more than a 3rd and a trash d man. Add a first - still trash.
