I agree when you do awful things you should be punished but alot of these things happen when they are kids. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Never ever have i said Carlo for Petey 1 for 1. All i have said is that is the only asset you have that Boston would move Carlo for.
Miller is a RHD and still signed. They just won’t let him play because of the backlash. Chance they buy him out in June. Honestly i’d rather they didn’t. I did not agree with the signing per se, but i don’t believe in caving to public sentiment either. The league is full of people that have done 💩ty things, from beating up AARP cab drivers 2 on 1, rapists, etc. and people turn a blinds eye to it. He did some pretty heinous 💩 but deserves a chance to rehabilitate himself. A couple of years in the minors (and a therapist) on a short leash. If he can’t grow up and become a better person than screw him. Had a chance and messed it up, let him go.</div></div>
He’s a bad human being. This wasn’t just crap he did as a kid. He did it for years and years and years, never showing remorse. He should never got the opportunity to play in the nhl or ahl. He’s never going to play for the bruins organization. My guess is that they just pay him, hold his rights, and let them expire.
This piece of crap was born for the khl

If Austin Mathews Does Not Sign with Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ritzy</b></div><div>No, the most insane part is to think that even with Matthews in a contract year the Leafs would entertain any idea of trading him. Teams that are in win now mode do not trade their best player.</div></div>
The logic behind trading him is ridiculously obvious. If he doesn’t want to be there long term, they need to get value for him. A player like that walking in ufa is disastrous

Trade Debrincat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Brother, stop.
Teuvo's production has stalled, fine. He's still one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL and his underlyings are still strong. It's a down year, not regression.
Morrow definitely took a step... did you just not watch UMass? His defensive game had to take a step because he was the only player on UMass this year with legs it felt like
And a late 1st is still a 1st, you can't say it doesn't hold value because it's late in a draft THIS deep. Even the 32nd overall pick this year would have the kind of value of a 20th overall pick in other drafts.
So, stop it. Because you're either biased or clueless.</div></div>
I never said a first doesn’t hold value. Why even say that? I never came close to asserting that.
I went to UMass, i watch a decent amount of their games. He hasn’t progressed since last year.
Teuvo’s value is minimal. He didn’t play like a $5.5M player this year.
Where’s my bias? I’m not a senators fan. I’m not some huge Debrincat fan. I have nothing against the canes. If I have a bias, its against delusion and homerism. I would put calling this offer a comical overpay into those categories.

Trade Debrincat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>No, it's not. This is a drastic overpayment for a pending RFA. Teuvo on his own is worth a 1st +. Morrow was deemed untouchable for Meier. Wanting both of those for Cat is an absolute joke. This is a comical offer. If you cannot see that, you need to watch more of Cat.</div></div>
Teuvo has had a pretty bad year. I don’t think anyone is champing at the bit to add him.
Likewise, Morrow didn’t really take a step this year. I wouldn’t say he necessarily took a step back, but his development definitely seemed to stall a bit. It’s a late first, a good prospect, and an okay roster player with a pretty big chunk of cap for the RFA rights to a 25 year old who has scored 40 twice (and was on a 50 goal pace in the shortened season). That’s fair, if not a hair underwhelming for Ottawa. You’re overrating your favorite teams assets.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>This is laughable. Considering the Sens landed him for the 7th overall pick, and a few picks in later rounds, you want Carolina's best prospect, a top six forward, and a first? Remembering Cat wouldn't even have a contract, you're not going to get either player here. Take out Morrow and Teuvo and try again. Thomson doesn't do anything for the Canes and the 4th is just comical.</div></div>
The 7th overall pick has way more value than this package. Yes i know who morrow is. I’ve also seen teuvo play this year, and he isn’t adding any value to this trade.
This is a very reasonable offer.

Nowhere near half. Half would be a first, Nemec, and bratt. Two of those items would likely have more value than one year of Matthews.

Hahahah i mean, expect about 3% of that return.
Take out one of the firsts, hughes, Nemec (those two are just off the table and it’s ludicrous for you to expect it). Obviously take out bratt. Cmon. Be real. A first, Holtby, and another good prospect if probably the best you can expect for an expiring contract. Your offer is an absolute joke.

There’s been zero indication they’ve had interest in him since draft day.
If they move grzelcyk, it’s because they don’t have the cap space to ice a full roster without doing so. No space for hanifin.
Let’s pretend they have that room - just sign orlov who has fit in wonderfully, and move grzelcyk to recoup futures from their deadline spending spree.
No matter how you look at it, acquiring hanifin makes no sense for boston.

Re-tool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Trading Tanev might be a decent idea, but we don't want Grzelcyk when we already have Kylington. Better to figure out a Trade with BOS involving Noah Hanifin, if we can sign Orlov via Free Agency or somehow pry Hampus Lindholm away from them. Carlo has always been of interest as well. I like AJ Greer as a Lucic replacement target as well.
I'd definitely want more for Toffoli, who's on a marvelous value contract. The only way he gets moved is if a) Coronato signs, b) we bring in another Star and need his Cap Space or c) we can't afford to re-sign him and the offer is to good to turn up. Suzuki & Bokk are pure gambles and haven't really jumped out of the page to justify Trading our Best Forward this year for. I believe we already have Better Prospects than them in Zary & MEP; IOW their values have dropped AFAIC
I'd want more for Zadorov. Hard to replace Big Physical 6'6 250lb Guys. Kuznetsov won't be ready, so only if Gilbert can fill his void or we sign another guy would trading him for less than a 2nd make sense
Definitely don't want Stecher back at $2.25mil. He's a fine 7th D-Man, but better than Stone, Gilbert or Meloche at less than $1mil/yr, I don't really believe that move makes much sense either
Kadri needs to be moved to the Wing imo and I recommend the RW, as he's our best Matthew Tkachuk replacement for that position given his style of play and shot:
Mangiapane-Lindholm-Kadri
Huberdeau-Drouin/Backlund-Toffoli/Coronato
Dube-Backlund/Drouin-Coleman
Pelletier/Ruzicka-Coronato/Zary-Ruzicka/Duehr
xRitchie
Weegar-Andersson
Orlov-Tanev/Carlo/???
Kylinton/Zadorov-Tanev/?
xGilbert/Stone/Meloche</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Arizona's not ready for AM34 to be the difference maker and they've shown extreme aversion to spending actual money, why would they make this trade now instead of try to convince him in FA? If he's willing to sign there as a UFA, they can afford to wait and not gut needed pieces from their roster.
If you trade Matthews, it has to be to a competitor who thinks it will put them over the top. NYI, Florida, Winnipeg, Vegas would be examples.</div></div>
If they spend $15M per season on Matthews, it’s a net positive for them. A homegrown superstar is a financial opportunity too good to pass up. If money is the driving force, which it is, it’s a no brainer to acquire and extend matthews, regardless of cost.
