Buffalo Sabres: 2024-2025 - Next Head Coach
The Buffalo Sabres are seeking their 21st head coach in team history.
Don Granato was fired on Tuesday, 16 April, after the team did not qualify for postseason play for the 13th consecutive season. He compiled a 122-125-27 record in over three seasons as the Sabres' 20th head coach.
General Manager Kevyn Adams was pleased of Granato developing the team to this point. He is looking for a head coach that is focused on competing and holding the team accountable.
Candidates mentioned are Craig Berube, Gerald Gallant, and Lindy Ruff.
Who should be the Sabres' next head coach?

Thread:
Pittsburgh Penguins: 2024-2025 - Coaching Staff
The Penguins did not qualify for postseason play for the second consecutive season.
The Penguins' coaching staff presently includes:
Mike Sullivan, Head Coach
Todd Reirden, Associate Coach
Ty Hennes, Assistant Coach
Mike Vellucci, Assistant Coach
Andy Chiodo, Goaltending Coach
Madison Nikkel, Video Coach
CJ D'Alimonte, Assistant Video Coach
Coaching problems could start with Sullivan and Reirden.
Sullivan was content icing a mediocre team without discipline and accountability. The better players were constant scratches. The worst players were favorites in the lineup.
Reirden has coached the Penguins' power play and defense. The Penguins' power play has disgusting worsened during Reirden's tenure. Floating and coasting on the ice, excessing passing, killing the power play in the defense zone, and trending upward in shorthanded goals allowed are what not to do on the power play. Add the intention of not clearing the puck out of the defense zone, there becomes no defense and goals allowed. The Penguins suffered from this watching leads blown and games lost late in regulation and in overtime.
The Sullivan-Reirden-Vellucci tandem could have reached its end. One or all coaches could be in different places. Starting in the right direction, Sullivan and Reirden have earned involuntary separations.

Kevyn Adams traded roster players. He did not address needs to improve the roster and win now. The Sabres may seek a new general manager this offseason.

Bringing back G in the off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>This never happens and it is not going to happen. Team do not trade expiring UFAs and then resign them. Everyone realizes after the trade that it is time for both parties to move on. Jake is not coming back. This team is done for as a playoff team. This trade was the beginning of the rebuild process. The organization will avoid that word because it is a ticket sales killer but in reality we can start to take apart this roster as long as 87 is still here to sell those tickets.</div></div>
The Penguins are a playoff team. Players needed to move to revamp the roster to win. The next movement will be on the coaching staff. Enjoy Sullivan and Reirden in their final games on the Penguins coaching staff.

Samuelsson being out frequently with injuries at this point in his career is a concern. If there are other defensemen that play better and are not constantly out with injuries, then the Sabres would have no problem exporting Samuelsson.
