Off-season Im expecting
Detroit seems like a pretty realistic landing spot for Durzi. I don’t necessarily hate sending him there for a 2nd+.
What’re the chances the Kings can switch McIsaac for Viro or Johansson? McIsaac requires waivers, and that’d leave the Kings with 4 LD requiring waivers after resigning Tobi, not to mention also cutting into Spence/Clarke getting a spot.

They have a huge cap crunch and Bouchard needs a LARGE raise. There's the chance that Bjugstad takes a discount to stay with a really good team like Edmonton though.
We'll see what happens. Blake literally can't be done making moves. We'll see who it ends up being. Arvidsson? Iafallo? Durzi? Lizotte? Roy? Who knows. I know who I'd trade in that group, but I got no say in it haha.</div></div>
Arvidsson and Durzi probably are the two for sure, if they dump anyone that is. I love Arvy, but team control matters when facing a cap crunch, and I don’t like keeping him to lose him for nothing if it means trading Iafallo.

Not sure the chances of the Oilers letting Bjugstad go are very high. Would love to have him if he tests though.
All in all I like it though. I’m hoping Kupari and Kaliyev can both get looks in the top 9 this season.

Not inclined to trade Portillo since we just got him, but could work something around Durzi+ for Hellebuyck 50% retained.

23 24 Boston Bruins Aggressive Game Plan
Goalie is a necessity, but not at the cost of Roy and Vilardi.
Kings also aren’t going to retain anymore salary given how tight their current situation is. This basically puts the cap to the ceiling without a replacement for Vilardi or Roy.

defenseman swap
Would need to take Moore with Roy to make the cap work, but the Kings aren’t interested in trading Roy. Maybe Durzi, but even so that’s too much cap allocated to the LD. Not a good fit overall.

Nylander for Durzi+ leaves the Kings with ~2M in cap to find a starting goalie and put the finishing touches on the starting lineup. A tough ask for a team, especially when they likely won’t be able to extend Nylander past this season.

Cat to LA
I love Cat, and I’d definitely want him on my team, but a tough ask for the Kings to gut their core to get him, especially with his hefty QO after a down year.
Debatable whether they’d even be able to afford a lengthy extension as well.

Been hanging onto hope that Gavrikov’s reported ask is total money, and not AAV, but unlikely that’s the case. One can dream though.
Vejmelka is a great get per usual at that price.
Gotta fit Kaliyev in there somewhere though I feel. He’s done well enough in his very limited role to garner a better look.

Needs to be Swayman or retention needed on Ullmark. Tight against the cap needing to dump Petersen and sign Vilardi and a 2LD.
Gavrikov also doesn’t leave LA if he’s signing for that (he’ll get closer to 5-6 on the FA market).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Hmmm... I like JAD and the 2nd is fine, but I really don't feel that is enough to take on Petersen's contract, even with Mrazek in the deal. The thing about Mrazek is, CHI has no need to dump him. If there is no need, then there is no value in it. Trying to balance value using something we don't need makes no sense for us. But, a creative proposal nonetheless!</div></div>
This was part of the issue, as there’s no incentive for the Hawks in simply swapping bad contracts, which is why there still has to be picks/prospects going that way.

I'm mildly amused because the main argument for the haul for Ullmark is "He's going to win the Vezina this year!" but then they suggest that Swayman (who didn't win a Vezina) would cost even more.
Stay away from Boston's goaltenders.</div></div>
Wanted to try assembling a team without sending Arvidsson away, so Swayman is one of the few goalies that works cap-wise. Granted he’s young, posted solid numbers and has team control, so there isn’t a ton of incentive to move him unless they get a sweet deal.
Issue is the Bruins probably aren’t interested in futures and neither team can afford to add much more for roster players.

Ah yes, McCabe’s on the books for 2 years yet. So that simplifies that deal.
Kings probably have a tough time sending Petersen without picking Mrazek up the other way. Figure the Hawks want to keep one of their NHL slots open for Soderblom/Stauber.

Fair. I figure the Bruins will want to ride Ullmark/Swayman for as long as the cap makes it possible.

I think the Bolts would want Vilardi, but I think if the Kings could net Sergachev without giving up Byfield, Vilardi, Turcotte or Kaliyev I’d consider it a good deal for Blake.

Barkov at the deadline
I don’t think Minnesota should be emptying the cupboards just yet. I understand the need for an elite center, but they’ve got Rossi. They’ve got Khovanov. They’ve got Khustnutdinov, McBain, Beckman, etc etc. Surely at least ONE will fit the bill. For now I think it’d be better off long term just sticking with the process for a year or two. There’s some key UFA classes coming up here too.

I rather have Jack Johnson in my top 4 than Forbort in my bottom pair. This guy sucks ass and I had to watch him for 4 straight years. People wonder why Doughty "sucks" its because he was paired with this bum for almost 4 straight years. Doughgy is the only reason this guy ever had decent numbers. But watching him, get ready to see very stupid decision making, lots of turn overs, zero physicality, and lots of goals against when he's on the ice. He's the most frustrating player I've ever watched in my entire life. I rather watch peewee B than watch this guy. He belongs in the ECHL. How he remains in the NHL is beyond me. Probably bc of Doughty or made Joakim Ryan look like a top pairing dman last year.</div></div>
Pretty much everyone I know that’s a Flames fan hated him by the end of this season 😅
