No interest in Bryson or Kisakov, but it has the building blocks of a successful trade.

I very much doubt VGK gives up Stephensen for Kaner. They could do a lot better if they want to trade him. He also doesn't really fit the timeline of CHI's rebuild, but CHI still accepts if VGK offers him up.

:tearsofjoy haha. For sure. Despite some of his more advanced analytics, I have actually liked him this season. I definitely think he has something to give, but I am indifferent on moving him.

I'm not going to argue for or against that Johnson trade. It simply just exists.

CHI doesn't give up that much with all of that retention and only get ONE 2023 pick back, let alone that pick being a 3rd.

CHI might accept that. But, I have a feeling someone will beat that offer for McCabe.

Sabres Deadline
BUF could probably get a little more for Kane retention. Probably a 3rd tops when you consider the dollar amount they would actually be retaining.
This article gives a pretty good idea of what third party retention should cost using historical data.

Garland and McCabe
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Garland at this price isn't half as valueable as a young dman making 1.4 million. Also McCabe is not worth a 1st.</div></div>
McCabe at a $2M cap hit for THREE cup runs IS worth a 1st. Whether or not you/TOR want to pay that price is a completely different conversation.

For a 1st, CHI will even pay for extra retention and/or maybe include another small piece.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>I don't have the Hawks retaining here. I just have them taking back Johnsson with a 2nd round pick</div></div>
Oh. I must have just scrolled up quick again and mixed up the retention on Meier with the Domi deal. Either way, I'm not sure CHI takes Johnsson back for that, but they might just to have a body to finish the season and make the deal work. The more important thing is probably keeping the retention slot open unless a deal is good enough to warrant using it. But, we'll see.

I don't think CHI retains and takes back a cap dump for that offer. Make it NJ's 2023 2nd and it's probably closer, but even then I don't think it's enough.

Shaefer is good but idk. He doesn't really seem like the type CHI would value this highly or go after. Sure he was a late 1st round pick, but I think CHI would much rather get a 1st and make their own pick than take EDM's 1st from last year.

V 27 Part 1
Extra retention on Kane won't cost a 2nd round pick. The actual cash salary being retained is less the $200K, which equates to probably a 4th but a 3rd at most.

Tough to beat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>Ohhhhh so you mean guys that are nowhere near the NHL? Whatever you say man.</div></div>
Korchinski will most likely be on the NHL roster next season. Vlasic, Phillips, and (maybe) Roos are all ready for legit NHL time right now. Allen and Del Mastro are probably going pro at the end of their junior seasons but probably need at least next season in the AHL before they graduate. I could see either of them impressing right away and getting NHL time, though. Galvas impressed in a short stint in the NHL last season but hasn't been up since then, for whatever reason. Regula should be ready for a jump to the NHL full time. Mitchell already is in the NHL full time. Kaiser, Taige Harding, Connor Kelley, etc. all probably go pro between next summer and the summer after, plus whoever we draft this year and next year and how ready they are. Caleb Jones and Jack Johnson likely won't be back next season. They might even be gone by the TDL. CHI needs roster space to give kids NHL opportunities, not to fill it with more veteran contracts and reclamation projects.

Plus, BUF already has Levi and Portillo in their pipeline. They have no reason to even consider adding a goaltender prospect. If anything, they upgrade at the NHL level and even that is a long shot. BUF needs to add defensive players, if anything. They have plenty of offense and their goaltending should be more than adequate with better defensive play in front of them. This guy isn't even a BUF fan. He's just messing with other teams.

Probably the bare minimum to get him, actually. This probably gets beat, though. Cole and Myers are not interesting or valuable to CHI and we don't need a goaltender or goaltender depth.
