Completely agree. It will only be amplified if they lose Barbie. I'm sure they have something creative up their sleeve. They always do!

Yeah, still not following the logic. In what world does this make sense for Vegas? We have no need to move up, we're trying to win now.

Cap Casualty Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pens1991</b></div><div>i wasn't sure if any of them played opposite side but figured that could be true so honestly wasn't sure.
I don't know Lehner's status, but if he comes of LTIR that creates an issue for Vegas unless they can move him or Martinez, but I can't see anyone taking Lehner unless there is retention, and both Lehner and Martinez have M-NTCs so feel its a bit more tricky. vegas could pull up AHL depth, but assume they also want to resign Howden? Can't imagine they bring Barbashev back unless they move cap.</div></div>
I think the current plan is for Lehner to be placed on LTIR. Assuming they sign Hill to something in the 4.9 ballpark they're going to be forced to trade someone if they want to bring back Barbashev. It would most likely be Martinez. In that case, they'll have to sign a winger for Eichel and Marchy as well as a LD to play with Petro. I'm very interested to see how it all plays out.

If there is VAN retention (as you proposed) Vegas does this trade in a heartbeat. Boeser would be a great add to Vegas' top six.

A different trade back scenario
There is no reason Vegas would pay to move up in the draft. Especially if it's at the cost of there already finite picks. Assuming they trade it, it would be for the improvement of this current team.
Throwing Korczak into this is laughable. He's going to be a main-stay on the blueline in a couple years.

lol. Not a single Vegas player you mentioned is going to get traded this offseason. Also, we don't have a log jam on the left side. Theo plays on the right with McNabb. The only guy who could be a cap casualty this offseason would be Martinez.

finishing touches
Fair value but Vegas probably rejects. There are going to be teams willing to give up a mid-round draft pick for Martinez. Jones doesn't really make sense here, we need a burly, defensive-minded defenseman to replace Martinez. Think of a guy like Cole, Soucy, or Forbort. However, this is an interesting proposal.

Vegas rejects, easily... A cost-controlled goalie with potential is worth far more than futures to this team.

Barbie Out - Cotter or Doro
I agree! During the TDL there was a lot of chatter around JVR and Vegas. Now that his bloated contract isn't an issue maybe they'll circle back. Food for thought...

That's kind of what I figured. I assumed there would be a bidding war which led me to throw in the third. It's going to be very interesting to see where he ends up.

I like this a lot! I think Dorfeyev has the potential to be a good middle-six winger. However, I wonder about acquiring a stopgap in case he doesn't pan out. Maybe Engvall or JVR?

I don't understand the hate behind this contract sure maybe you could have added a few more years but Sanheim is a legit top 4 defenseman and should fit really nicely next to Risto.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>Maybe someone who's watched Vegas more recently would know better than I would, but I have to ask: is Reaves still an NHL level player? Obviously he's a great hockey player. You have to be a great player to play in the NHL ... but compared to most NHLers is he even at that level or do NHL teams just want him for toughness?
IMO this doesn't look like a good deal for us ... I know it's a 1 year deal for less than 2M, but still, I don't see a huge need for Reaves right now for the Rangers.</div></div>
no he is a borderline 4th liner but teams will keep him around for his physical presence, fans love him but analytics people hate him. not a fan of this signing for you guys.
