I agree, it'll be interesting to see if a full season under Tochett can help, along with some of the additions on d I think a wildcard spot isn't out of the realm of possibility. They desperately need the young guys to take a step (Hoglander, Rathbone, Podz).

Kings Lines and Pairings Outlook
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hckeydude123</b></div><div>As an LA native im very excited to go to games this coming season. This team on paper looks like its going to be very exciting as long as everyone stays health and goal tending holds up.
Forward group wise I think you've got it spot on, maybe Lewis gets a little more playing time than JAD but only because his leadership and experience not over his skill.
Defensive wise that's probably how it'll end up but I surely wouldnt mind seeing Clarke or Spence with Gavy and Bjornfot with Roy just to add a little dynamic to the back end.
Goaltending wise I'd start the season with Copley and hope that he could have as good of a season as he did last year. I think they will end up splitting the season pretty evenly between Copley and Talbot.</div></div>
That's awesome, enjoy this upcoming season! I think it'll be a pretty fun season if the goaltending doesn't disappoint. My only concern going into the season with the Kings is the 3 goalies they have are like backup- fringe backup quality. They should look to trade for a goalie at the deadline again if they have a subpar start which could very well happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Same, something interesting to watch in camp is that Bjornfot and Spence have experience playing with eachother more than Clarke, and especially more than Englund. The Kings could also, split up Matt Roy and Gavrikov and have shutdown defensemen on the bottom-4 pairs and play Clarke on the second pairing, Roy with Spence on his offside. There are a lot of options that will need to be tried out for that bottom-4, PLD's line, and the 4th line.</div></div>
That'll be interesting to see what they end up trying on D with all of the young guys coming up. There's like 1 or 2 spots for 3 or 4 guys.

Would be nice to see Bjornfot take a step after an underwhelming season last year. I was high on him in his draft year.

That's a fair assumption, he hasn't exactly performed well but I think on a one year minimum deal they give him a look and if it doesn't work Foudy could get a look.the available centre options for 4C I think could still fetch some larger cap hits than the Avs can take like the nosek's of the world.

Perfetti needs to start playing center. Keep him off the boards. The other option in that lineup would be to move Kupari up with Perfetti and Iafallo and move Lowry down to center AJF and Apples.</div></div>
No concerns about Perfetti being too small to play centre? I feel like he's more suited to be playing on the wing.

Well you have to take into account the teams they've been on. Forborts +22 was on the best team in history, while Shattenkirk was a -26 on an absolute dumpster fire of a team.

True I was thinking similar to the Oettinger deal but Sway is older so I thought to the last rfa year made sense to sign a big ticket then.
Yea I never did think about burying forbort, I doubt he gets claimed.

we know Lauko could be an effective bottom 6 guy, would personally rather see Merkulov get a shot in the lineup, see how he adapts to the NHL and where he could fit in the future</div></div>
I agree with you on Merkulov, just with how Sweeney runs the show he loves burying his young guys in the AHL so we'll see.
Just with both players going to arbitration it's really up in the air. I used comparables though on some recent signings.

Regardless of who's playing I doubt they play Lowry on the wing. He's too sturdy and good defensively to do that. I think having Iafallo on the third line could be huge for depth scoring though.

Based off of his season last year I think he gets a bump from league min. Had good numbers while getting shelled on Chicago. The planned backup for next year isn't an NHL calibre goalie so good luck.

I "might" keep Ehlers with Scheifele instead of KFC and Scheifele but you have to break up those 3. KFC and Scheifele aren't good together. No one to back check, go in corners, go net front, etc. Those 2 will just skate around in the 50' foot zone waiting for a puck to score. Do NOT put KFC and Scheifele together.</div></div>
One of my buddies has been saying the same thing to me and it makes total sense. Who would you ideally want in that spot from the roster? I love Perfetti's game but he's not that type of player either.

Realistic Outlook
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I don't see the Hawks doing that. Vlasic, Phillips, Tinordi will get the bulk with Roos being brought up if they need assistance. They're at a stage where they need to see whether their LD can cut it OR not. Their single deepest prospect depth is LD. At some point you just need to see what they can do. It's actually the reason they let Caleb Jones go. Just too many LD.
***EDIT*** The reason he's not with CHI yet is because Ironically, Josh Bailey costs slightly more in a buyout, but not much more. The NYI were willing to pay the price. BOS isn't...and I'm not suggesting BOS should. Just they haven't yet.</div></div>
That's totally fair, I agree the Hawks should see what they have at LD currently to see if some guys are ready for that next step.
My thoughts were to have Forbort and Tinordi at LD and see if Vlasic or Roos can work them out of the lineup instead of just giving it to them. Plus having some more NHL calibre d men gives Bedard more some more assurance that they're not going to get shelled every night.
