2 points less than Samoskevich

Zegras to Montreal

I am not defending the proposal of the OP, but am stating the reason why I would not touch your counter offers. Slafkovsky has more value years before his prime than Zegras will in his prime. Nobody in the right mind would think Zegras for Slafkovsky 1-for-1 would be a reasonable trade for the Habs. Habs need help up front, but I would never pay those prices for Zegras.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>You're new here, so we won't light you up for being the millionth person to post a variation of WPG 1st and Barron and Kidney.
If you want Zegras, it takes a blue chip asset to center the trade. That's MTLs 24 1st + Beck level prospect, Reinbacher + MTLs 25 2nd, or Slafkovsky straight up.</div></div>
"MTLs 24 1st + Beck level prospect" - if habs can get either Lindstrom, Catton, Iginla, or Eiserman; they could keep Beck and have a more rounded fwd (or around the same level fwd) for the future.
"Reinbacher + MTLs 25 2nd" - If the Habs traded away another young D who turned into McDonough or Sergachev, there would be riots - I think they will let him mature a bit to see what he can do in the NA game.
Slafkovsy has shown us what he is growing into (10G 14A in 32 games in calendar 2024 and not even 20 yet (plus the rest of his all around play in noticable). He looks very promising. If Slafkovsy was in a deal, the Ducks would realistically reed to include additional assets.

Sportsnet 2024 Draft Ranking - with current pick ownership
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Not a chance Hawks select a LHD guy. Vlasic is top 5 in the NHL in the defensive zone this year playing on the first line and is a rookie. Couple that with Korchinski and the Hawks are set on the top 2 lines on the left side. Then they have 3 or 4 prospects on the left battling it out for a future 3rd line spot and 2 of which are for sure locks to play in the NHL.</div></div>
You understand that Sportsnet made this ranking right?

I an sure they can find a few trade partners. They could use one, or more, of the 2/3 picks to move up a few spots - depending how many spots they wish to move.

I see Celebrini #1 OA regardless.
On this ranking, there are 4 fwds ahead of Iginla.
I don't see the following teams select a D unless there is a no brainer there -- Habs , Sens, Sabres, Devils. This could dry up the available forwards.
Realitistically, the Flames would be better off taking the best available D if there are a few better ones that drop to their pick.

74.5% chance that last place does not get pick #1. In Fact, there is a 55.7% last place gets #3 OA.

Maybe if they could sell more than 5000 tickets in a game, and he re-signed for at least another season or 2.
Too late in Crosby's career for him to be the "Wayne Gretzky" of the desert.

Pens COULD get way more trading their pieces indvidually (if the NMC were waived) - I am saying COULD, because Dubas would be more likely to do something like this, as quantity seems to be more valuable than quality as per the Guentzel trade

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>I don’t blame you, I love Guhle as well, I just think he’s the only guy who gets you the type of forward we’re looking for. Maybe Xhekaj does as well? But would you want to move him? Struble could get you a nice return if packaged, but these types of deals are typically 1 for 1 or quality for quality vs quality for quantity..</div></div>
I love both Stuble and Xhekaj. Both very physical, but with a much different approach to the game. I think one of them is eventually gone. Both will eventually strive wherever they go - and there is potential to say "can't believe we let him go" - the return needs to be of enough value that we say "well we got #insert player name# so we can't complain"
Don't want another Gomez or Drouin breathing on the team while McDonough/Sergachev show what we missed.

I do not disagree that Defense, especially on the Left Side, is a position of strength within the organization. I also know when Hughes eventually does make a trade for a Top 6 fwd, it will be a considerable pay.
In my opinion, on LD Guhle is the future, and he is the future leader of the D-corps as a whole. He is the absolute last D-man I would put on the trade board (including Reinbacher and Hutson).
I understand my bias - and simply expressing my opinion. I think we are generally on the same page - maybe differ in who we value more.

In my opinion, Guhle is near-untouchable. I would not even do this 1 fo 1. It would need a much better player, with a lot more skill and potetnial than Brady, for me to even consider changing my mind.
