Demidov is at least a putative RW (although he's left-handed) but Lindstrom is duplicative of Zegras, Carlsson, Gauthier and McTavish. If we get screwed a third time by the lottery process, I'd rather we choose Helenius, Parekh, Yakemchuk or even Buium (who I understand plays well on his off side) than Lindstrom.</div></div>
I am not that high on Lindstrom either, but historically when a prospect have is size and talent they usually get pick early. San jose, Chicago, Anaheim, Columbus and Mtl could all use size up front. I would be shocked at all if he was selected early in this draft. Now the question is, would i selected him top 5? No i wouldn’t. I think that Parehk, Bium, Levshunov and Dickinson would all be better pick. I would also pick Greentree and Iginla before Lindstrom. But that just me i know that Lindstrom is a sexy pick so i’ll go early

No i was entertaining the idea of trading Kovacevic to Vancouver for a 2nd round pick and Mikheyev contract.

It’s a issue if they came into the league at 24. That the problem, not that they won’t make it. Team have absolutely no control on development. This is a concern for many organization.

It got to heal fully while his ankle recovered, and lol and behold, when he came back from all injuries, he scored at his usual rate, looked like his usual self, except for notable improvements off the puck.
So no, MTLs not taking any risk other than Anaheim would draft well and in hindsight have won the trade. And Mallioux is bone headed off the puck, we've got enough scoring from the blue line, that's why we're frankly more interested in Reinbacher, and would take him and MTLs 25 2nd.</div></div>
The fact that you talk about Mailloux like you know anything about him is pretty remarkable. Mailloux play without the puck have exponentially grown this season. He was one of the more consistent defender when the season ended with a very young squad in Laval. Is overall play have improved now in a way that he will become a viable and trustable top 4 defender in this league in a near future. As for Reinbacher i doubt that Hugues will entertain any trade talk for him. They pass on many great forward in last year draft to pick him.

I know all about Yurov and yes he is a question mark. First there always the russian factor. He could stay in russia for many year. He could be a bust, he is still only a prospect playing in a much weaker Khl since the start of the war. Scouting have been really hard for russian players also. All those factor combine increase considerably the risk for Yurov.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Taylor Hall was traded for an established top 4 RHD that was taken at 4OA. Mallioux was taken 31st, and has established nothing.
It's a weak draft, the absolute best case scenario for the player taken at 5OA is that he manages to achieve a similar career to Zegras, assuming absolutely everything goes right, then you add the fact that there's the risk of busting with that pick. Furthermore, Mallioux is not a blue chip piece.
If you had a similarly aged top 4 RHD that had shown they're not a bust at the NHL level, you could argue that 1 for 1 trade is appropriate, but you don't, you have prospects and picks that carry risks.</div></div>
Mailloux was selected 31st so what? What this have to do with anything. Mailloux is a top prospect who improved each season since he was draft. So yes Mailloux is a blue chip prospect. Finish 3rd in overall scoring for defenseman in Ahl. 6’3’’ skating like the wind, physical, with literally a bomb as a shot and he shot right. Zegras have only 2 season under is belt when Taylor Hall had 5 of them, Zegras could have reach is ceiling already, Mtl is taking a risk either since he was underperforming is previous standard. So you can play the victim card all you want, you ain’t getting two bluechip assets for him. If you does at the end i’ll be the first to present you my excuse. But as for now you can keep asking for ridiculous return, everyone know that it won’t be happening and each year Zegras get closer to is last contract year is value will drop continuously.

I think Xhekaj could be traded, but the return would need to be substantial. A player that would have a immediate impact up front, under 25 with size. I would say a player similar to Boldy would be a starting point. Anything less wouldn’t be judicious to trade Arber.

You arr not getting 2 bluechip assets in a deal for Zegras. Historically even the best of the best that have been traded haven’t gotten those kind of return. Taylor Hall was traded at 24 for Adam Larsson. Taylor Hall and Zegras early career are very much the same. Both where on super bad team, both high draft pick, both producing at a similar pace.
The 2024 Mtl draft pick would be more then enough in term of value, depending on is Anaheim have a player the value at the position Mtl will speak. Mailloux have been a riser from the day he got drafted. He is consider a one of the top NHL prospect. Anaheim ain’t getting those kind of assets combine. Historically it haven’t happened. Zegras isn’t the second coming of the great one. Lower your expectation or it will be brutal if he get traded.

That Mtl trade is useless. If they absolutely want to get rid of Anderson then they will bought him out. Xhekaj is not getting traded for piece who doesn’t improve MTL top 6.

Montreal is giving up 2 two best players in this trade and received another small forward, a defenseman who won’t play in the NHL. A forward prospect that will become free agent and a russian player who is a big ? mark. Hugues and Gorton express themselves at the press conference that they like to get bigger up front. This doesn’t help them at all.

If he get moved it will be for a established top 6 forward or a high end skill forwrd prospect. Already playing top minutes against toughest opposition all year long and he was playing on is offside sor the second half of the season.

This Necas contract is brutal. He doesn’t deserve anything near that amount. Last year was a anomaly, Necas is a 50-55 point winger who can’t play a 200 feet game. Habs ain’t trading any assets for a guy’s without caracter and completely disappear in the playoffs

I totally agree, you cannot like the players that fine. But saying such stupid thing as Matheson is not a bargain is just to much to me. I had to make him at least think about is foolishness. People will always hate and talk about is non advantageous stats but forget all about the category he is rank top 10 among nhl Defenseman. Also he was pn the ice for 12 empty net goal that have put is differencial in a bad spot. All of that neglecting the fact he was playing over 25 min playing all the thoughest machtup.

We got the point you are a habs hater! Everyone have noticed it, that’s fine but come on. Stop with the bull****. Matheson under 5 millions is a massive bargain. No mather what you think, if you look at contract giving to defenseman around the league he make a lot less than what he should. Hronek is younger and that about it. He will cost a lot more then the 4,85 that matheson make.

I what world that makes Dobes expendable. Goalie are the most difficult position to project. I like Fowler a lot but he hasn’t shown anything yet. Hab are better to stick with both of them. Dobes being 3 years older is perfect. He will likely replace Primeau or Montembeault when Fowler turn pro. There no need to rush Fowler to turn pro. He will be competing again for the national title again next year. Another year of scouting both a these goalie will benefit the organization a lot more then making a move they don’t need to. Not sure what is all the hype about Necas but he have similar number than Drouin. Necas is a better goal scorer for sure but that about it. Necas have had a career year last season. He is more a 50-60 point winger with terrible 200 foot game.

I also think Mailloux will be better than Barron but Barron isn’t waiver exempt anymore so they will need to wait until they can found a trade that work for them to call up Mailloux. For Roy he is in the same kind of situation, i think he is ready for the big league but will be call up when pieces start to move. At some point Armia, Dvorak, Duclair and Savard will be draw interest around the league.

Couturier doesn’t hold any value. He is a cap burden, don’t expect to acquire a 22 year old promising centerman. Dach is a futur cornerstone for the Habs. Even a swap of bad contract in Anderson wouldn’t be justified. Couturier contract length just put him in the non tradeable category.

Even if he wasn’t trade for that reason, Necas is a good second line forward. Not a game changer like you would assume in a trade involving a top 5 pick. I really don’t understand the hype about Necas. To me i wouldn’t trade any assets for him, he will ask for big money and isn’t a sure bet. He had one good season.
