one time wont be the end of it for the habs. maybe if it was a team like Winnipeg (ironically) where nobody wants to be in the first place but i think most guys could get past one move like that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>Oh yeah they signed a guy to a contract and then instantly traded him? Who did they do that to?</div></div>
no wiggle room for this guy. not instantly but they certainly made a few harsh moves involving fan favorites when they decided keeping them would hurt the team (paccioretty, MAF). in that same logic, MTL decides that picking up PLD will increase their chances of getting a player with higher potential (fantilli) and pull the trigger because the team will be better in the long run.

first of all fifth worst so suck on that, first round exit. Second of all, idk if you've lived under a rock for like the last two whole years or what but its pretty set in stone that PLD will end up in MTL at some point in his career.

ovi is a very one dimensional player who can rip that puck and not do very much else too effectively. as much as he scores he does not to an amazing amount of anything when he isnt scoring. he certainly isnt playing nine million bones worth of hockey when he steps onto that ice. especially not when youre getting two top six centers and one of the best young goalies in the league (rehab be damned) in return for him

creating roster spots
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>Not a sub 6' winger, that's for damn sure. If we get Smith, wonderful. I think Rein is a stretch at 5 but I understand the positional requirement. Leonard would be a wonderful pick, finish our top line with a RW of size and stature. Other than that (or some catastrophic drafting by the 4 teams ahead of us) I would trade that pick with one of STL, DET, WSH and get an additional asset or two. We're a team of short dudes, KH would be tone-deaf if he drafted another one (MB did that enough for all of us).</div></div>
i think that drafting a defeceman that high in such a stacked forward draft (top ten at least) is nuts personally. drafting by positional need is the worst thing a team can do in the first round. Michkov is the 2nd or 3rd best player available in the whole draft, if i earnestly thought hughes would pick him i would've put him there instead but i just don't see it happening. for me benson's style of play is more appealing than smith's regardless of size, especially considering that the difference is only two inches. i know two inches is huge sometimes but i dont think its gonna stop zach benson any time soon. if they draft reinbacher im going to become a vegas fan.

being good at hockey and being tall are different things. yes hockey is a physical sport and yes there are some advantages to being bigger in certain scenarios but if youre better than the other guys on the ice its irrelevant how big you are. the big guys can play in the bottom six. Zach Benson will be an elite NHLer regardless of his size & imo hes the best option at fifth overall.

But for some strange reason he convinces himself at times he's EK65 and pinches more than a 75 year old Granny. Or makes bad decisions passing. These mistakes are what fans remember. Not the good things he does.</div></div>
i dont know if hes still the best puck over glass pen taker in the league but that used to drive me through the wall. kind of like how he used to drive that puck along the wall without touching it and out of play. every other play. woof.

he's definitely serviceable but god if it isnt just frustrating to watch him play. i will always look back fondly on chairot magically morphing into an elite goal scorer the likes of which has yet to be rivaled before the 2022 deadline

best defensive forward in the draft, elite mobility, vision, hockey IQ, great passer, great hands and shot. IMO the most whole pick and best bet at C in that range. unfortunately we're fooling ourselves if we think were getting Michkov because Bughes does not seem to like him

ridiculous to suggest that keeping wideman because hes "a good vet for our young core" is a better choice than actually playing our young core. who does he even play over if we keep him? definitely not Ghule Xhekaj or Harris. depending on how you view advanced stats Kova was one of our best guys & Barron took huge steps all season long. as much as i do love widesy there just isnt a spot for him in the lineup anymore. (IMO savard and eddy also dont have a roster spot). i think that 8-21, 54-26, 72-52 is the way to go this year barring any changes.
