<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_neutral</b></div><div>Brossoit isn't a starter. Winnipeg pays more than the open market cause... Winnipeg. Stanley may not get 1.5. Namestnikov is a dime a dozen when you have youngsters capable of producing similarly. Iafallo is useless for 4M and jets have plenty of cap questions.
Which brings up ehlers. Lose Connor next year then?</div></div>
lol, Brossoit will move on to a spot he has a chance at a starter role (NJ, L.A, etc.) or at least a1A,1B. Namestnikov is awesome and he likes it in Winnipeg. This should not be undervalued, he's a fan favorite. Iafallo is a solid player, yea a bit over paid but...He's a good fit, contributes to the "best defensive team". I wouldnt give him away. Maybe a third. The only cap questions are really Schmidt and Pionk. One will likely be gone, my bet is Pionk. Ehlers could very possibly be traded but it will be for a top 4 defensemen. Why would we lose KFC next year?
Lambert will get a shot, perhaps Chibrikov and / or Lucius at some point but... My guess is the start the season in the AHL.
Jets are actually in a great spot with the cap going forward. Wheeler buy out done after this season, Schmidt, Iafallo will both be done and then its Rutger time with Lambert and at least 2 or 3 other ELC's and the cap will go up again.

No chance Brossoit re-signs. massive overpay on Demelo. Stanley s not getting $1.5. Namestnikov is a very useful player at $2mil. Id rather keep Iafallo then give him up for a 6th rd pick.
This deal does not get you Ehlers. Jets biggest need is on the blueline.
You didn't adjust the salary cap for this post so there would be an additional $4.3~million for Jets to play with.
Ville Heinola is likely in this top 6 next season also.

That is fair! TBH i think I would do GV13 for Schneider. Big Jet need at RD

Perhaps, the team he goes to is somewhat irrelvent. Schmiddy is a serviceable player. I would consider retaining if necessary.

Thats fair, embarrassment of riches. I used the Byram for Middlestadt deal as a precedent. I don't think its that far off.

I think it would take a 21-24 yr old potential top pairing right shot defensemen with plus skating and high IQ. I like Braden Schneider as a target.

If you put a younger playing like Perfetti on the table - could see fit for trade there. Personally really want McGroarty but realize you wouldn’t trade him. Your organization is stocked with good young forwards.</div></div>
I recently proposed this,

McGroarty is a non-starter. Especially to a division rival.

Ya, Jets are not likely trading Ehlers either. fan base would revolt and ticket sales are a hot topic here. The organization seems to favor bigger more physical players and have thus under utilized him for a few years now. Also when you consider smaller forwards Kyle Connor and Cole Perfetti in the top 6 it clearly could use a big body. Its the unspoken fact we miss Dubois some. Pretty sweet top 12 tho. I think this group would have a legit shot to win it all!

Ehlers is penalized in these subjective 'scouting reports' for lesser physicality and no PK time. The Athletic has them currently with Ehlers at +8 and Buch at +6.

I disagree. They are statistically identical, same age, same contract, same cap hit (virtually).

Hmm, disagree here my friend. Statistically they are pretty close, Ehlers drives play, PP1, Buch is bigger, nik is faster.

I get that opinion. I would wonder what else might be available IF the Jets were open to trading him. I would be loathe to trade him also but I like Buch for 2 playoff runs at $3.5.
