They don't suck. Sucking doesn't equate to being average or slightly below average. Schenn doesn't suck, Bear doesn't suck, Dermott doesn't suck, and Burroughs doesn't suck

One doesn't necessarily equate to the other. Saying that they do equate to one another can arguably be chalked up to mono-dimensional thinking

Vancouver Canucks signed Andrei Kuzmenko (2 Years / $5,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ronan00</b></div><div>Kuzmenko's ELC is probably one of if not the most valuable contract in the league thats moveable
I see it like the Brendan Hagel trade last season, his very good play along with his contract was super valuable to a cap strapped team like Tampa, obviously Kuzmenko was a UFA not an RFA so the return wouldn't be quite the same but I don't see how there isn't a huge push from many teams to get him, he definitley had good value, now he's only locked up by VAN for the years where they will still suck and sell off other pieces around him
Maybe they'll trade him still next season if he really pops off and its totally worth it to have not traded him now but this was a good chance to cash in on something you knew you had instead of gambling</div></div>
Brandon Hagel had term and CHEAP COST CERTAINTY last deadline, something which Kuzmenko does not have, as he is a pending UFA. Guys, Kuzmenko wasn't as valuable of a rental as you all think, I don't know how many times I have to say it

Sample size still trumps that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Vancouver needs to be selling everyone over the age of ~23 for futures. Kuzmenko probably makes them a better team now, but the potential return from a deadline trade would help them even more down the line.
As Brian Burke says so aptly, teams need to either be trying to race to the top of the standings or trying to race to the bottom of the standings. I'm not sure how a 2 year deal for a 26-year old player helps them do either.</div></div>
Management doesn't believe the team needs a scorched Earth rebuild the way everyone outside the organization does, regardless of if we believe they're wrong to have that kind of thinking, and no, ownership is not puppeteering them from the shadows. Only time will prove whether or not we are right

in order to have that label you'd need to be consistent regardless of your teammates or opposition since consistency is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to netminders. demko has really taken a nosedive this season and unless he rebounds when he comes back from injury i don't know how you can assign an elite label to him.
is he a good/great goaltender? absolutely. elite should be a standard above that though.</div></div>
I'll say this, it will surprise me if he doesn't get back to his peak form down the road, no matter what team he's playing for
