First 2024 Mock with Trades
I think Calgary will try to move up in the draft to secure Iginla. Maybe MTL would be willing to move down a few spots for Vancouver 2024 1st.

What would be the return for
Newhook is probably worth what we paid for him last summer (31 and 37th overall pick).
Matheson is still useful to MTL, but could be available soon. I would think his value is higher than Newhook.
Primeau isn't worth much for now. MTL would rather keep him to see what he can become in a few years.

He's been playing 2C every games. Jets fans already talking extension since his hat trick.
I said he's WPG future 2C even before he was traded. He fit their core age and is willing to extend long term on a Canadian contender for a reasonnable price. He wants to win in a hockey market.

New York Rangers Deadline

That window that ended last year you mean? What 5 years are you talking about?</div></div>
Reread my post, i said NYR don't have 5 years. But the window is still open for a few 2-3 seasons. Panarin and Kreider are still good, NYR are still one of the top teams in the east.
I get that rebuilds are appealing for fans nowadays, but when you're a top 5 team in the league, you have to aim for the cup and not for a top 10 pick. I wish MTL was a top 5 team.
I don't get why you think it would help other teams if NYR traded for a rental?

Not even the best team is guaranteed a cup, but it would make them legit contender i think.
The East is open this year, might as well take a shot. Not like they have 5+ good years in front of them. The window is closing.

ANA will ask for a 2024 1st. If NYR want it to be the 2025 1st, they're gonna have to add a pick. Maybe a 3rd would be enough though.

ZEGRAS TRADE IF DEMIDOV IS OFF THE BOARD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>He's really not, vast majority of redrafts have Zegras still above Caufield even though both moved up, Caugield is usually top 6-7 while Zegras is usually top 3.
As to the Dach trade, Dach was mishandled, damaged goods when MTL traded for him, his value was significantly below where Zegras's is. It'll take a blue chip piece to get Z, one of Slaf, Reinbacher, or MTLs first will need to be the main piece of the deal, not a late first and some prospects that MTL doesn't mind getting rid of.</div></div>
Last summer, most redrafts had Zegras over Caufield. Now it's not the case anymore, just look at recent ones. And i think we can agree most fans would take Caufield since Zegras value has lowered recently.
Like i said, a package around late 1sts isn't enough for Zegras. But Reinbacher wouldn't only be a main piece, but the only piece going back as i can't see a team offering a better prospect/pick.
Realistically, i would say a top 15 pick is probably what ANA should expect for Zegras. And it's fine.

Caufield is worth more than Zegras, but i get your point.
ANA will ask for a top 15 pick or something of equal value, just like CHI asked when they traded Dach.
It won't be a package. I'm confident Hughes will find a top 15 pick.

Most teams are overpaying for rentals, but only the Stanley Cup winners are smart about it i guess...
I still would want my team to be all-in if they're legit cup contender.

Top 10 Prospects for 2024 from Ottawa's perspective
I think Ottawa need Levshunov more than they need Eiserman or Demidov.
Jiricek would be a great pick for them if they draft between 7 and 15.
Eiserman and Helenius will be NHL ready earlier though.

2024 Midterm Central Scouting International Skaters
This is a bad ranking list, but that could be close to the right order when comes draft day.
Helenius could be picked as high as 5 if teams consider him a future top 6 center.
Looking at last year, Silayev ahead of Demidov is likely. Teams seems to value big defenseman over small skilled wingers. Rightfully imo.
After WJC, Brandsegg Nygard should be picked ahead of Hemming, but it'll depend on the remaining of the season. They're both similar players.
Scoring wingers playing on their offside can easily put up points on bigger european ice. Doesn't always translate well into the NHL. Could explain why Chernyshov is low.

I didn't make this ACGM, but looking at their lineup, I thought Winnipeg biggest need is a 2C.
I get that you love to hate on MTL players, but realistically, after Lindholm (he's not getting traded to the Jets), the best C available at TDL is Monahan.
So hate all you want, but i'm sure Chevaldayoff would love to add Monahan at TDL.
And since he'll cost about 500K for the remaining of the season, i'm sure Jets owners would love it too.

Rangers need cheap RW which Kakko fits and defensive responsible players</div></div>
Monahan played RW last season with Suzuki and Caufield and he was great. He's on a 2M contract and would probably extend for cheap on a contender since he already earned a lot of money in his career so far. But i don't think he's a right fit for the Rangers. I think he'll be traded to a Canadian team like Winnipeg.
