Based off the costs to dump guys like Patrick Nemeth and Zack Kassian, I think the cost to dump these two will be more tbh

Leafs - Canucks
Let’s just say Holl is worth the 4th to make things easier. Vasily is worth more than N Rob, but I don’t see the value gap being a 1st and a 3rd. Podkolzin has shown to be more NHL already obviously but both will likely be very good 2nd liners with potential to be even better

That’s my mistake then. This said he had played it, as well as EA I believe even has him as an LW/C. Regardless, if not him then Landeskog could move to center like he has before I’m sure

Reported ask for Pulju was somewhere along the lines of a 2nd I believe. A 2nd is there, and Abramov has a tad more value than a 4th rounder atm, so this is basically a 2nd + slight value boost for Edmonton

Contenders for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Heyhowareya37</b></div><div>I guess my response would be the B's are trying to compete so giving away the best out of the 4 is counterproductive, especially to a team in their division. Theres feeling that one of Reilly and Forbort (I lean Reilly) might be the odd man out. Gryz is also hurt to start the year so its unlikely he gets moved as well.</div></div>
Fair enough. Management i am extremely willing to bet favours Lindholm over Gryz, and while he very likely has the edge over Rielly and Forbort, I still wouldn’t be shocked if he was the guy to go (the injury could potentially factor into them choosing to move them if they want to remain fully competitive). If I was Boston I will say I would definitely move Forbort over any of the others

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Adding Matt Grzelcyk is WAY less important than getting rid of Zaitsev when it comes to potential D improvements. A left side of Chabot-Sanderson-Holden is already solid, trading to add an LHD seems unnecessary, especially one you can't afford to keep. I wouldn't bother trading Hamonic, keep him as a 7th D to push JBD/Thomson to earn a spot.
Running a D of
72-52
85-2
5-60
23
Seems pretty solid.</div></div>
Doing this roster it was pretty hard to work with the d men. I would have traded Zaitsev but I don’t know what the cost would be. In a world where they want to give up more assets to dump Zaitsev and give the extra spot to one of the d men that’s perfectly fine, I just didn’t bother right then as the cap space was free to keep him for rn. Also, I liked the fit to add Gryz rn if they’re trying to be a contender for next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LPProductions</b></div><div>Bruins block your number. "Gryz is a very talented d man and would be great for the 2nd pair role," so why on earth would the Bruins trade him for 2 4ths?</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ji4849</b></div><div>lol bruins insta decline</div></div>
My logic for this is that with Forbort and Rielly having gotten 3x3 extensions last offseason and Lindholm getting the long term extension this past season, one of the LD is likely on the way out. I believe Gryz is the best d man of any of those 4 if I’m being honest, but after a disappointing playoff run I wouldn’t be shocked if they move him (also considering he makes more than Rielly and Forbort). His value is likely at a low rn, and if Boston wants to move him out I doubt they get a crazy return, especially considering how quality players have been traded for very minor returns. I do realize this was a little low on the return side, so whatever it takes added on top of this would be fair, but again I don’t think it would be a super high return if he was moved

Regarding who? Murray? If you’re talking about Murray, then he costs far more for Ottawa to dump. Even with some retained salary, the rumoured cost was going to be 7th overall and dropping down to 16th.
If you’re talking about Oleksiak, I’m saying that if they want a return of that size they better retain salary because that contract isn’t very appealing. We have Muzzin already who has 2 years less, makes 1 mil more; and is a lot better (when healthy), and that contract is rough as is. Don’t want Oleksiak and his full 4.6x4 at all

That Arizona trade sucks for us lol
Don’t hate that Seattle trade if there’s more retained salary. Oleksiak is barely 3.6 mil, but if it was taken down to a number starting with a 2 that’s more interesting

Keep Sandin for the love of god
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>It's the locker room that gets hurt, leadership is like 3-5 people on each team. If you are constantly changing the core, players need to adapt and leadership is in flux.
The cap space you need can be had for taking a beat on Mzarek and moving Holl, you don't lose leadership, defensive depth, or playoff performance from that move. If you are Dubas and you made your team upset with you for waiving Muzzin and Sandin is struggling with the increase of minutes, your days as a GM could be numbered.</div></div>
That could happen, but there are plenty of d men who can step up if Sandin isn’t ready, for example, Giordano. The point of moving Muzz wasn’t really even the cap space, it was to give Sandin the clearance to top 4 minutes and a full time spot on his proper side. While doing that, you also leave the option to get a cheaper replacement who plays the right side, so he can partner with Rielly. The leadership lose hurts, but the Leafs have plenty of leaders on the team, and losing Jake Muzzin won’t crumble the team in the locker room. It could hurt it but it won’t destroy the team. I get the logic that it hurts because it’s true, it will hurt the locker room, but every team loses leaders, and if losing one guy (who isn’t the captain) crumbles the locker room, than sadly this team wouldn’t be going anywheres anyways yk

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>It's more if you do players dirty like McDonough don't expect those Toronto discounts going forward. Dubas is a players GM, and I don't see him doing Muzzin dirty when he'll have a real chance to move him next season when Sandin has taken more time at 2LD.</div></div>
The thing is, if they don’t do it now, then it’ll be even harder to do next offseason. I get that it would be rough for the players, but hockey is a tough business and if it’s for the best of the team it makes a lot of sense, and the players know that. I don’t think Tampa is gonna get in much trouble for what they did. Besides, doing this can assert Dubas as a “tougher guy” (I couldn’t care less about this but other GMs mighty care so it’s an added bonus)
