<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffGorton</b></div><div>But why? Habs receive nothing but contracts in this deal. If Price is done, then send him on LTIR. His contract is like 80% insured and its not like Molson is poor. Thats like 6m in cap wed have to eat, that costs a 1st rounder</div></div>
Did you not see the Weber trade from last week? This is the same thing. Clearly the Habs don’t want to be in LTIR.

If Price really is done and Keith is willing to waive to Montreal I'm making this deal in a heartbeat.

Habs accept that. As shown with the Weber trade, they’ll sacrifice short term cap space to clear up the future

How about Bourque for Caufield?
If Hughes is asking for a Top prospect like Bourque for his overpaid old D, the. I am afraid you should wait until Chiarelli gets a new GM gig.</div></div>
Don't shoot the messenger. I was just adding to the above rumour some information that had been omitted.

Zacha was a 6th overall pick in one of the most stacked draft classes of the century, and I'm sorry I don't think all your prospects are going to be the superstars you think they are.

I think I can find a high-motor left winger for a cheaper cost than the 1st overall pick and a chance to get the franchise center the Habs have sorely needed for two decades.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>defranc</b></div><div>i mean it seems like a fair trade ,idk why you would think that lol</div></div>
A draft bust, a potential top 4 left d prospect to add to the pile of left d prospects we already have, a decent prospect who at best will be a top 6 winger, a first that can’t even be in the top 16 next year, and a second for Shane Wright. If that’s all it takes to get these top picks, I present to you: Anderson, Harris, Farrell, our 2024 first, and our 2023 second for 2nd overall.

You’re gonna pass up on the opportunity of picking 1 and 2 overall because you think a guy who you drafted last year in the mid 20s and put up just okay numbers in the O is untouchable?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>abennett1284</b></div><div>Just putting the rumor to paper. The presumed deal is Petry, Allen for Stranges, Khudobin (or Faksa) and a pick. I would assume a high pick. Obviously more is going into the discussion and it may not even happen. Khudobin was injured most of the last 2 years. He may rebound to form. Strange is a very high prospect, probably 3/4 in our system and may turn out to be a very solid #2 center. I think most of this is for Montreal to shed salary. They'd save almost 6 mil.</div></div>
The rumour mentions Bourque as well. I think the Habs are more interested in him.

If guys like Ben Chiarot and Rasmus Ristolainen can get firsts, I think Anderson has a good chance to as well. We’ll see though. In the end I don’t think he gets traded, but we’ll see.

This deal isn’t good for Montreal, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to propose trading him for the 2nd pick either.</div></div>
Oh absolutely not. If you don’t feel like reading my long paragraph comment above I said I think his value’s right around what Lehkonen fetched, and I think given how teams are so gung-ho about size and speed someone ponies up and offers it (I’m looking at you Ken Holland).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>Feels like ur just using Lehkonen as an excuse to justify an incredible overpayment for Anderson. Can’t compare the two imo.</div></div>
Why can’t I? You brought up Anderson’s point total as a way to justify that he’s not worth more than an overpaid center who hasn’t shown anything in this league and a defencemen who was put on waivers. If you’re going to introduce to this argument other features that players bring, aside from point totals, then allow me to point out that Anderson’s combination of size and speed are highly sought after by gms in the league. If you feel like taking an hour or so, which I highly doubt you do cause you’ve probably got more important things going on in your life, watch the Hab-Vegas series. In that series Anderson scores two huge goals (one courtesy of MAF) and scares Alex pietraneglo so much he’s afraid to go into a corner with him. I’m not advocating for Anderson to get a second overall pick like many idiots on this site are doing, I’m saying Anderson should be able to fetch a Lehkonen-esque return (mid round pick and good prospect) and not another team’s garbage.
Lehkonen played with danault and Gallagher throughout the majority of the playoffs. And was the trade really an overpay? Look at how he’s doing in Colorado now.

Meanwhile, teams keep calling on Josh Anderson (among them the Oilers, I hear) and what they’re being told by Canadiens GM Kent Hughes is that he doesn’t intend to move him. They want him to be part of their rebuild. Having said that, there’s a sense if teams step up with a serious package led by a top prospect plus other assets that he could be pried away. But all things being equal, the Habs don’t really want to move him.</div></div>
Hughes said the exact same thing about Lehkonen and Kulak at the deadline. At the end of the day he’s an agent, he’ll say anything and use every opportunity available to him to drive his guy’s price up to get better value for him.
