I feel like it would just be smarter for EDM to make the trade for Chychrun. But reports keep saying they aren't all that interested in him, for whatever reason.

McLeod likely getting more money than that on a 3 year deal,
Haula's contract very similar to Zacha's in Boston so basically going to have to add another 1.5M there.
Bratt and Meier both RFA's and Bratt's numbers are actually slightly better than Meier's, just curious where the extra $1.25M for Meier is warranted?
And what do we expect from Holtz next season? This doesn't really leave much wiggle-room for an underperforming, low intensity performance from the kid, and doesn't offer a way to get him out of the lineup when he underwhelms, as there isn't a scratched forward signed.</div></div>
Holtz is on the 3rd line here, it's not like they're asking the sun and the moon for him. If he struggles again, he can easily be replaced by guys like Clarke, Foote and Thompson.

A 1st, conditional first and a 1st round very solid D prospect.
This is a great move for a re-building Sharks club.</div></div>
Muk should be in NA towards the end of this season when the KHL ends. At least that's what Fitz said earlier this year.
I also think SJ will really like Zetterlund

I haven't seen anything connecting NJ to Rico other than it being fan-service. And I'm pretty sure Sevo is the only guy on the roster that actually played with him, so I don't think it would uplift the team or anything.
But I do want him back.

Vancouver getting anything for Boeser while he's making more than $5m would be doing them a huge favour. And Buffalo could really use some guys that can help keep the puck out of the net, Boeser is the opposite of that.

Meier with Hischier still makes way more sense to me, but I assume they'll give lots of things a try. Putting two players that are top 5 in the league in shots on the same line together seems redundant. Jack isn't the playmaker he was drafted to be, 2023 Jack Hughes is a goal scorer.

I mean, the Sharks haven't drafted twice in the 1st round since 2007. I don't know how actually doing a rebuild instead of being consistently middling is the "same thing"

Real money difference between Sharks retaining on Meier and taking back Johnsson is quite a lot. But that's on the owners I guess if they care.

Marino is the best player.
Vanecek is the biggest improvement in the position because of how terrible the goaltending was last season.
Haula is fine. He's a useful 3C and I would have been content with not even qualifying Zacha, it was just time to move on from him. Boston can take the W on that one if they like him enough to extend him for that money.

They definitely have the cap space to get both. Barbashev + Meier is still like $1m less than Stone's contract even without retention.

Seems odd to me that Holtz's name has never come up in rumours, just random media mock-trades. It wouldn't blow my mind if he isn't apart of the deal simply because Grier isn't high on him.
Although perhaps Grier is just trying to downplay Fitz's offer to get more out of him, who knows.

Lebrun says Timo trade Front narrowed down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sjbackseatgm</b></div><div>A very reasonable response, and I commend you for your patience. Devils fans are having discussions on whether or not Holtz is a bust and the statistics on non top 4OA first rounders that don't become impact NHLers. As well as AHL stars vs. NHL impact players. Time will tell, but Holtz has skating/processing issues and that's very worrisome.
While simultaneously, many are running what appears to be an online campaign inflating Holtz's value (while deflating Timo's). I'm over it, I'll take him as a B prospect in a package but I would prefer Muk. The devils have 2 elite prospects (Nemec and Hughes) and plethora of good/B prospects, but I don't see any better than Morrow that aren't those 2. To your point, he also just so happens to fill a big need for the Sharks. So yea, if NJD doesn't offer Nemec or Mercer the Canes will win Timo's services with a package like this imo.</div></div>
I mean, you're also backing up a guy that said Morrow > Nemec.
There's having a different opinion on prospects, and then there's just baiting people like he does. I stay out of stuff like this, but him baiting Devils fans then complaining when they hit back is just stupid.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Klara</b></div><div>Except it was what peng said a source (non SJ) interpreted A/B/C prospects as, not at all SJ's internal thinking.</div></div>
Peng himself said "his sources". And these sources are the same sources that gave him the "1st + A prospect, 1st + 2 B prospects or 1st + 1 B prospect and young NHLer" price. So either all of it is true or none of it.
These trades are obviously exaggerated though. He implied that Luke+1st would be enough and Nemec+1st would be close.
Regardless, I hope Fitz is shopping around.
