<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>audiodave</b></div><div>Dermott has been out with a concussion most of this season, not a healthy scratch, and he has played 279 NHL games over 7 seasons.</div></div>
Assuming your numbers are correct seven full seasons is 574 games more than twice as many games as Dermott has played. Two of those seasons were shortened by the panicdemic so he's played in a little more than half the games over that time. That doesn't sound like a bonafide NHL defenseman it sounds like a fringe defenseman. Considering he spent most of those years on a Toronto team that wasn't very good defensively and after that on a Vancouver team that's possibly even worse defensively he'd probably still be stuck in the AHL if he was with another team.

Andersson for DeBrincat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Yeah that’s why I’m pushing for a Big Feisty Shut Down D-Man or another Puck Mover like Kylington was to pair with Tanev. Better to keep Hanifin & Andersson together for familiarity and work on getting the puck out of our D-Zone faster, by benching Lucic and holding guys who cough up the puck accountable. Weegar whiffs & turns over the puck in our own zone way too much, which wouldn’t be as big of an issues if he scored or created more scoring himself to offset his mistakes like Kylington did.
Hanifin-Anderson
Zadorov-Weegar
Gilbert-Tanev
LD options I think will potentially be made available via Trade are: Gavrikov, Maata, Staal, Benn, Hagg, J,Johnson, Borowiecki, Mikkola, H. Fleury, BOS’s M. Reilly, Dermott and E. Gustaffson if WAS falls out. Could go for a Home Run and pursue Chychrun as well</div></div>
Chychrun would be awesome but I don't see Trelving pulling that one off. Gavrikov would be nice and should be more attainable but if I know Treliving he'll cheap out and bring in someone who really doesn't improve the defense at all. Either that or he'll overpay for a guy like Schenn.
Same thing with forwards... He'll tell us he's in on all the top players available not get any of them and end up doing what he always does... Overpaying for some 2nd/3rd rate declining older player with too much term.

Weegar-Andersson

Weegar was supposed to be better offensively at LD and better defensively at RD</div></div>
That might work too but I still think Weegar has been better at RD in Calgary and I'd prefer Tanev on the 3rd pairing to reduce his minutes and hopefully keep him healthier... If doesn't wind up LTIR again for his most recent injury.
Zadorov - Weegar is tough to play against too, both players hit hard.

Andersson for DeBrincat
Actually the Tanev Weegar discussion gave me an idea.... I wonder how it would work with Tanev at LD and Weegar at RD?
Weegar is good on either side but I think his offense is better on the right side. Tanev knows Markstrom's weaknesses better than anyone and has years of practice helping to cover his flaws. Tanev often winds up sliding over to the left side to block shots on Markstrom's weak glove side so maybe it'd be better if he played that side.
If Weegar provides more offense and Tanev blocks a few more shots on Markstrom's glove side that's a win/win AFAIC.

No they suck with Markstrom. When Tanev was out Weegar and Zadorov were arguably the best pairing. When Vladar is in net the team plays a lot better regardless if Tanev is playing or not.

Timo Meier!
Yeah he's a lefty but he is a RW. Mind you only if we can resign him for 9 mil AAV. Then we move two of Backlund, Tanev and Toffoli next year (They'll all be in the last year of their contracts) to free up enough cap space to pay Meier, bring up another forward prospect sign a decent 3rd pairing defenseman and put Weegar at RD paired with Big Z at LD.

Hell no! But maybe Tanev... The problem is Treliving probably wouldn't.

It would have been a whole lot better if you had Crouse and Chychrun going to St Louis, RoR and Tarasenko to Toronto with Toronto sending Liljegren, Knies and a 1st to Arizona.

Dream on. Andersson isn't going anywhere! The only way Calgary would even think about it is if Brady was going the other way.

Greenway isn't what the Flames need. Maybe if Minnesota retains some salary and takes Looch in return. In that case Calgary might send Minny a 2nd round pick or a B prospect.

Homer trade. Nobody is taking on that contract and paying to do it. Vancouver is probably going to have to pay another team to get out of it eventually.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>kylington is not worth a first until he is back in north america playing, not skating over in sweden by himself.</div></div>
Obviously that's why there would be conditions based on his return. If he doesn't return by a certain date Calgary has to fork over something else (likely a 1st round pick). San Jose can wait for him to return even if it's not until next season but Calgary can't.

Flyers can get more than that for Konecney. Boeser is soft, injured or sick a lot and overpaid. If he played a more physical game or didn't miss so many games he'd be worth more but he is what he is.

But Canucks fans know the extension was a mistake and are now trying to move him. Vegas will take any one of those guys over Miller right now. Not because they're better, but because it makes long term sense.</div></div>
Nobody is going to take Miller for 8 years at 8 mil AAV. Huge mistake by the Canucks there. Even worse after that they tried to lowball Horvat and wound up losing him. What a fiasco!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T_Hip</b></div><div>Interesting that you have cgy re-signing Meier for 9m per, in your scenario, cgy will only have about 5M in cap space for next year.
And to pay for it, you would have get rid of Backlund for free and will have to add another 1st rounder cause no one is taking his 5.3M cap hit.</div></div>
Wrong. Any of Backlund, Tanev or Toffoli could be traded to free up cap space. All 3 are still pretty good and only have next year left on their contracts. If Pelletier sticks plus Zary and Coronato make the team next year all 3 could be traded freeing up enough space to pay Meier and pick up another defenseman to replace Tanev.
