its just a hypothetical situation. The question is does this team have better chances, both now and for future growth, than what they currently have.

yeah, thought the offer was pretty good too. Would like to see what larkin and marner could do together.

I think we should pull the trigger on this. The chance of us getting a 100 pt player with either of those picks is pretty unlikely. The trade would immediately put Detroit into playoff contention without giving up a roster player and Marner fits the timeline perfectly/has years left on his contract.

I really like Ehlers too but its an overpay. Debrincat is also better, younger and has less issues with injuries. If the NYI 1st was swapped with the Boston 1st, id be ok with it.

couldn't find the article, but there was one released the other day that talked about his injury. Apparently, it wasn't that bad and they shut him down more for a precautionary reason. He is already training again and they said that if they made the playoffs, he would be playing.

Kubs doesn't really add anything that we can't get through our other prospects. We might be able to get more for him then this trade, but i think in any case its a good time to sell.

thought he came to detroit because his wife was doing her residency or something. If that's the case, he might not be so quick to leave. In any case, there are plenty of backup goalies available in UFA

Seider's is good. Raymond's might depend on how he plays next year. If he doesn't improve, I'd imagine he gets a bridge deal instead.

Winning
Too many UFAs. It's youth or bust time. Team should get a RHD a goalie who can play ~50/50 with Husso. If they can somehow get for a ppg winger in their prime, that would be great too, but there is nobody that fits that bill in UFA.

Dangle had a pretty good point about Bunting too and how stupid that hit was given he's going into UFA. His value as a player has tanked this year with his reputation.

Unlikely Adds on the Wing
honestly like your train of thought. I would like to see if we could move the 2nd in the Debrincat trade until 2024. Also, I don't expect Fabbri has any value right now with concerns of his knee injuries. Instead, maybe wings could trade Lindstrom and some other pick or prospect to get Tanev. That way Flames shed cap and get younger and wings get a solid RD. I also think it would be a good idea to go after Laf if there is any chance Rangers have issues with the cap hit, but I imagine it would be through a trade for his RFA rights as opposed to an offer sheet. I wonder if it could be built around the 2024 Boston 1st we have.

What is the next move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyriakos_Grizzly</b></div><div>Vrana just played his first game in a long time - Nothing special and nothing bad to say either. Did only get around 11-minutes icetime.
Lindtröm has been really bad this year and I have no faith in him :tearsofjoy. Both Oesterle and Hägg are really versatile players and one of them must be on the 3rd pair. I would expect a trade to happen.</div></div>
I agree. I have to imagine Lindstrom is the odd man out. I don't think he has played worse than usual, I just think with better defenders around, his skill level is more apparent. It just looks to me like he doesn't have the physicality to keep forwards away from the net.
Their forward situation is a mess (in a good way). A lot of those guys are decent contributors or at the very least are hurting them on the ice. I really don't know who get's benched and who plays. Fabbri might miss a few games after blocking a shot late in the caps game. There's been no major announcement, but it looked like it hurt him a bit. This might at least allow Zadina and Vrana to get more time in the lineup. Otherwise, I would say that Kubalik hasn't impressed me much lately and I would rather see Zadina play than him.

TRADE DEADLINE RED WINGS
wanted to do that math on it as well. They currently have 22 players on their roster (12 for, 7 def, 3 goal). Fabbri, Bert, Zadina and Vrana are expected back sometime in Jan (need to lose 3 players for compliant roster). None of those 4 are waiver exempt, but Bergren, Veleno and Soderblom are. Most likely one of the players being traded or waived is a goalie, which leaves 14 forward positions available among 16 NHL quality forwards...
As those above mentioned it would suck to demote the rookies simply because they are waiver exempt when they are playing better than others. I think the UFAs like Suter, Erne, Sunqvist and Bert have got to be most likely to be moved. But chances are some of the guys coming back from injury will see conditioning stints to draw out the decision as long as possible.
