I see Kakko getting 2 years esp if $2M. They’ll have to try and convince Trouba to waive his NMC a year early.

I also don’t think Kakko/Nylander is that bad. Yes Nylander is better, but Kakko does have the ability to turn out just as good or better. Toronto also could use the cap space to solidify the defense.

Are you suggesting NYR use Georgiev as a way to get rid of Nemeth contract? I do agree he goes to EDM or ARZ, but not too sure if they’d have to use Georgiev to get rid of him. Probably can use a mid round pick or a prospect.

Honestly if is what was offered for JTM, shocked they turned it down. I do think NYR need to extend Copp and it’ll be tough if they bring in JT Miller. Luckily for NYR sake, Trouba NTC is gone soon same as CK. I’m not saying they should trade CK btw.
I do know the NHL made a deal where the cap will go up $1M for a few years I think 3? And then they say it should be able to take a massive bump like the NBA did. Is that still accurate?

Rumors of teams who may be looking to deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Canoehead</b></div><div>The Scheifele rumour is largely a creation of YouTube. It was the host of a daily Winnipeg sports talk show going on a rant when the Jets were in a nosedive prior to Maurice leaving the team. I haven't read any of the TSN insiders or beat reporters saying that he is being shopped.</div></div>
I’m not even sure if Scheifele is rumored to get traded. Just if WPG is out of playoff picture and if teams who want to buy call about a trade and ask for him, I would assume WPG would at least give NYR a price for him. Also, just my opinion and this could not be leaned towards you, Kravtsov is still young and is developing in Russia and it’s a league where older players usually get top minutes. I do think it’s more likely Chytil is a career 3C or RW, don’t think he’ll be a top 6 player.

All I know is NYR need both a C and a RW which is why I went after Meier as well and why I added Kakko since he does have the potential to still be a very good forward. That Buch deal did mess them up and I knew it would even had Blais stayed healthy as the RW depth isn’t that great.

Idk if NYR would trade Schneider and it’s because Gallant supposedly doesn’t love Nils due to his lack of size. Would SJS want Miller or not really?

Oilers upgrades
Cap space wise, Rangers are a little tight but they do have room. Question truly is if they are going after a big fish top 6 player, do they have the cap space to add on Koskinen $2M cap hit over AG? The first does make it tempting even if it could be in the mid 20s.

NYR 21-22
I would be very surprised if Palmieri doesn’t sign with the Islanders. And I’m not trying to be a dramatic NYR fan, but with the way Eichel neck is and he apparently didn’t have the surgery yet, would it be wise to trade away a 2nd overall pick in a deal for an unknown? IF Barkov was in play which I’m sure at this stage he is not, I’d be willing to move Kakko. I think that’s the only way I would. If Eichel Neck is a problem, that is both top Centers with long term injury risks. Could cripple the franchise.

Strome
The trade itself value wise is great for NYR, but is Poehling more of a winger or a C? As of this stage, if he is a C can Chytil step in right now as 2C and be a an upgrade? If NYR are going to end up getting an Eichel or other 1B C, this Strome trade could make sense but until something else happens, it would hurt more than help.

Strome or Buch must be involved due to $. Also not going to say Schneider will be better than K.Miller or vice versa, but NYR are loaded prospect wise RHD and need help LHD. Can’t give up Miller bc of that. And again the injury to Eichel is why it isn’t going to be 2 first rounders as well as many top prospects. It’ll be this years OR next year 1, and a few players/ prospects

Pull out Kravtsov, swap Jones for Schneider and drop the retention and you're pretty much there.
That Ekholm deal isn't close though. But since you swapped Jones for Schneider you don't need Ekholm.</div></div>
Thing is it’s a very young defensive unit with Trouba being the veteran at 26 years old, which is why I want Ekholm even if it’s just 1 year as a mentor to the younger players. I just don’t know value for 1 year players bc at the deadline, I’ve seen MANY trades happen and the response is “that’s it?”

Eichel may have to have a serious neck surgery which is why idk what Buffalo fans expect for him. What happens if he has the surgery and is never the same player? Ekholm I am not sure what the value is, I figured Tarmo who’s a solid defensive prospect could be a good starting point and Rooney is solid 4th line depth. If a future 2 is added to Ekholm is that enough?

The Center Slot
PLD had one good season where he had 61 pts and showed promise, 49 in 70 fine 57 pt pace followed by a rough time in WPG. Maybe it is a scenery thing, but you can’t ask for the world after that year. NYR also have too many LW. If he can play C, alright but still way too much to trade for him.

Not a knock on Kerfoot, but NYR need to upgrade 2C not 3C. Unless they view Chytil as a very good 2C and will be a 60 pt player, Kerfoot doesn’t make sense.

Big deal with Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aecliptic</b></div><div>I dont believe Nils has ever played pro on North American ice, which may require some adjusting to. Also, Nils made a career of playing both RD and LD, he actually played a lot of his off side which in NA hockey usually does not work out and is a very difficult transition to make. I think Nils will probably spend some time in the AHL and might get called up when the rosters expand after the trade deadline unless he plays SO good that they have no choice but to call him up. Gotta remember, Nils is a smaller guy and the Rangers are trying to become a more assertive, shut down team.</div></div>
Totally fair but he is still very young so hopefully Nils can add 10 lbs to get to the 180+ range. Fox is a smaller guy as well and is very good and tough.

But if they have Kreider they have the same problem, just a question of whether they’d rather have Kreider taking playing time from the kids up front or OEL doing the same on the backend</div></div>
CK at this point with Laf and Panarin is 3LW, and they can’t move him to RW to take playing time away from Kravtsov IF Buch is extended. A 3rd line w/ CK and Krav on the wings, any C can look very good. Also, on the other side of it, OEL hasn’t looked great as he’s gotten older so that’s a lot of $ to pay a 2/3rd pairing LD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>desertdog111</b></div><div>In my opinion the Rangers deal is the most evenly matched in terms of money, term, and need. But with the amount of D prospects they have coming through the system it’s questionable whether they want to do it or not which is understandable. Guess it comes down to how the Rangers view their guys internally. I wonder if the coyotes added a small sweetener (Crouse?) if that would make the deal worth the risk for the Rangers</div></div>
Thing is, yes they do have a lot of D prospects but they have to pay Fox soon so if they were to trade Trouba at some point, they’d still have OEL contract on the books which can make things difficult.

I do think Nils would come and play next year before Schneider. Dvorak would be 2C prior to Villardi. I do think AZ would want more for that package and rightfully so, but it’s doable with not having Buch to LAK bc KAM does seem like he’ll be a top 4 LHD for anybody long term maybe a top pair dman. But the general team looks a lot better.

Blackhawks tear down very unlikely
3 years left at $10.5M for Toews. Trading Strome and Smith does clear $9M for a year(if Strome gets $4.5-$5M), but Toews is 32. He is still very good but who knows if he ages poorly next 3 years. Chicago would need to retain $1-$2M on it. Also, can’t really make the trade where it FORCES JG to trade Buch and get no value for him.
