Trying something new
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WJC_Enthusiast</b></div><div>The Canadiens would likely refuse. With how Roy played at the 2023 WJC and how he's currently lighting up the AHL at just 20 years old, we can safely expect him to play for MTL in the near future, as in, 24-25</div></div>
It's also kind of funny, because I did a similar trade for Smilanic and Roy, before the WJC and people were saying that the Rangers would say no. Funny how things change.

Would Roy be available at all if the offer was right or is it just that he's viewed as untouchable? If so, what would it likely cost with the inclusion of Kakko?

I agree with you, but I feel like Kakko has been absent for the past two years. I get he shows up more in the playoffs, but we need more consistency in the regular season too. He just seems lost to me out there, and for most of the games was playing first line minutes. Even his goal against Dallas the other night was a lucky goal - got swiped in by the defender. I just feel like he's not going to work in NY, as much as I like him, he doesn't contribute a lot on the ice at the moment. What would you see as a realistic scenery change trade for Kakko?

Also, the Turcotte trade would happen after chytil comes back with the intention to drop turcotte to the minors for the remainder of the year with the expectation he can make the big league club next year.

Not sure who is more likely in a trade, turcotte, or akil thomas, but those are guys I think the rangers should target. I'm fine with acquiring either, and it seems like each of those guys could use a change of scenery, but maybe I'm wrong, what is everyone else's opinion? Also not sure if this is the right trade comp at this point, because I'm not entirely sure the value each player has in a trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Masonh618</b></div><div>So Fox is out for the entire regular season now? That's depressing</div></div>
I know they keep saying one month, but I don't think they ever actually released what his injury was. I think it is a lot worse than they are leading on. I'm feeling like he might be able to come back in February or March. At that point, if they are up against the cap, might as well just keep him there on LTIR so they can add guys with salary at the deadline and then bring him back for the playoffs.

Like maybe Braden Schneider or Miller? I could potentially see that if Rangers are concerned with cap in the coming years.

I feel like Bailey is an ideal 3rd line player though. Can chip in 15 and 15, and brings a physical edge. Plus who knows? The islanders offense is a struggle, unlike their defense which is superb. Maybe with more offensively gifted players he will see an offensive turnaround.

Trying some things
Essentially the Carolina trade is a Trouba for Trouba trade (with I'm assuming what will be similar salaries for the year). The 1st is to soften the blow since I think Trouba doesn't fit offensively with the Rangers, but definitely fits defensively with Carolina. Drury is essentially a throw in which is why the first plus some retention on Trouba is added. The Arizona trade is to make sure Goodrow is bought out so he can sign wherever he wants to - I feel like there are enough pieces there for Arizona to at least be tempted.

On top of that, you keep pushing the kids further away from top 6 playing time lol. If I’m Kakko and this happens, I ain’t re-signing</div></div>
Honestly, I am ok with players moving up and down the lineup. Even if kakko or laffy take over for kane, tarasenko, kreider, or panarin, respectively, at any point in the season. In my opinion they still haven't quite shown consistency or a great shot yet to prove they are capable. In my opinion, the first 20 games should be a trial period for the team to see what guys work where and with whom.

How am I off with the Kane contract (He's getting 5 million from a contender)? His cap hit will be 1 million with a 4 million bonus on top - that doesn't count against the cap once he turns 35+. Also sort of agree with you on the second portion, but these were just ideas to ponder. I feel like a Tanev-eque type player would be the return the rangers may want to look for/at.

Kane wouldn't be signed until November 19th when he turns 35. His actual salary would be 1 million, with 4 million in signing bonuses for playing in 5 games.

And people are having trouble with salary because of Goodrow's contract (sarcasm). This is a joke roster, none of these guys would actually sign for 800k. I did it for s***s and giggles.

Zach Jones is a decent prospect, a second round pick is good value, and Goodrow at 2.8 million (even if Vancouver has to then go and trade him to make it a 3 team deal) I feel like is ok value. We were trying to trade Kravstov for Podkolzin way back when. I think this is much better value. Maybe I'm wrong, but just where my thought process was going. I honestly don't mind switching it to Robertson instead of Jones. I also stated it doesn't need to be podkolzin, but more a young prospect who needs a change of scenery, a la Puljujarvi a couple of years ago.

Yes, I know, a lot of players would have to be willing to take pay cuts, and not sure but feel like it is fair value for Vancouver in this trade, they get a good young d man, a second rounder, and a salary dump - yet serviceable player for podkolzin who seems like he needs a change of scenery (honestly doesn't have to be podkolzin, but a young player who needs a change of scenery would be the type of player I think the rangers should target in this type of a trade). If Goodnow were signed for 1 million less a season, I don't think people would be complaining about his cap hit too much.
