For one year of a Matthews-less Mitch Marner at $11Mil? Jets would pass if Marner's NTC doesn't already axe it.

I'm curious to know what you'd change to make the Jets better next year. Who would you let go / trade away? What roles would you bring in?
Personally, I would try to sign DeMelo as the first priority, maybe Monahan too. I'd Bring Lambert up to play 2RW, shift Fetts over to 2LW, and trade Ehlers for a 2RD.
If the Jets can't get a 2RD for Ehlers, then I'd just keep him tbh. All the other positions can't really be improved and it wouldn't be worth shipping Ehlers for scraps.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Jets trade Ehlers, but Lowry is the identity guy and the captain.
There isn't a way to trade Lowry and make the team better at the same time, unless there's some major shift in the kind of game the front office wants the Jets to play, which is unlikely.

Hate to break it to you, but Winnipeg has to acquire their talent through drafting and trading. UFAs who are talented enough to be picky with where they wanna play don't pick Winnipeg.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JokiStan</b></div><div>Either way, the Jets have been eliminated. Maybe Pionk isn't good enough but there's bigger things to address</div></div>
biggest thing to address is the lackluster defence, of which Pionk was a big part this year. We're likely gonna lose Dillon in free agency, Pionk isn't playing well enough to be a top4 Dman. Morrissey can't be the guy generating offence and be responsible for defending against the opponents top players. Hellebuyck can't get hung out to dry all the time. Something's gotta give.

lol that was back when he had 25pts in 38 games and was looking like he'd have a permanent spot in the top6. Now we gotta pay Monahan.

Sabres Ehlers
IDK, this trade kind of just whiffs on the Jets needs when it comes to the pieces returning.
Jokiharju is an RHD which is good, but his next contract is gonna cost more than he's worth at 3rd pairing (where he'd play on the Jets next year). Jets also have plenty of bottom pairing Dmen for next year already.
Krebs would be joining an already over-populated bottom6 next year (7 under contract, 1 RFA, and a couple more trying to make the team out of training camp.)
Savoie shares the same problem, as he'd be joining an already stuffed high-ceiling FWD prospect pool. Both players would be nice to have, but acquiring them over players in positions the Jets actually need (2nd pairing RHD and high-end RHD prospects) would be doing a disservice to the team.
1st round pick is always nice. But the majority of the returning market value in an Ehlers trade needs to be on a 2nd pair RHD, not on draft picks.

need more talent
Neither player going back to Winnipeg is all that enticing to the Jets. Respectfully, they're just straight downgrades compared to Heinola and Fetts, not to mention that the Jets guys are both trending upwards.
Jets are in win now mode, so they're not really interested in adding more draft picks unless they plan to flip them for impact players (see last 2 years of Cheveldayoff trades if you're interest is piqued).
Trades involving young, cost-controlled guys like Heinola and Fetts probably need to (1) fill holes in the Jets RD depth, and (2) relieve cap space by taking Schmidt's contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>I don't know but it should probably be Gus cause Perfetti isn't suited for a bottom six role.
Given that the 3rd line is a black hole at the best of times AND Nino is a good player who's offensive ability is going to waste playing with stoney and stonier it'd make the most sense to put Gus on the Lowry line and put Nino with Namestnikov and Iafallo, that'd likely make for a more offensively capable 4th line instead of having two bottom six lines that barely produce.</div></div>
Round 1 Game 1 sounds like a great time to break up the third line lmao

The only reason the Jets would trade Iafallo is for $4M in cap space. Not sure the Jets are the right trading partner for you here.

Blockbuster
That'll be a huge pass on Norris from me. Jets can't afford to have more injury prone players in the top6 than they already do (and salary too).
I would be okay trading for a RHD with term, but only if the fit is right. I think I'd rather have Pionk play another year in the top4 than pay the 37th OVR to get a year of Savard.
Not interested in trading for an LD. It means not giving Samberg a shot at 2LD, not giving Heinola a shot at the starting lineup, and not signing Stanley at all. All those guys deserve opportunities, Jets shouldn't be spending assets to snub them.
Other nitpicks:
-Not re-signing Monahan is also probably a mistake
-Kupari likely gets waived unless he has an amazing pre-season
-Remaining cap space doesn't include 13/14 forwards.
