Any Interest Sharks Fans
first one yes, don’t think Kunin is that good. Great for 4th line/bottom 6 cause he’s a team player and physical, but not a lot of skill and takes bad penalties. I think Dube has higher upside and the same floor.
2nd one probably, I think sharangovich/Duclair are similarly good players, but the term on Sharangovich is better.
3rd one no, Vladar just hasn’t been good. Kahk was bad last year but that was the only one, was good before, and is playing well now. (Maybe not by stats, but sharks are bad, like Blackwood has been insane but is only at an even .900)

Granlund has arguably been sharks worst forward recently and kunin is an offensive black hole... not exactly the best options for guschin to be producing offense
***edit the sharks have not been competitive most nights :/
*Edit I apologize for the tone of this. I dont like how it sounds but ive just gotten up and can't find the right words. One thing I love about sports is how we can all have different take aways, to me granlund is still way off his best and kunin is an offensive black hole on both ends of the ice. I think in a very defensive 3rd or 4th line role he has a lot of value but he keeps being put in positions where we depend on him to produce and that isnt his game</div></div>
I agree Granlund has been bad overall, but I think offensively and offensively creativity he's been god. Bad defensively, bad turnovers, bad penalites, but I think offense-wise, he's been good, which should help a shooter like Guschin. I think Granlund can get a lot better and he has been in the past.
I agree Kunin has been bad offensively, but overall I really like his game. I agree, should be bottom 6 and would be really good there.
Yeah not too competitive so far, but they should get better (can't get much worse) especially with injured guys coming back

played w/ Kunin/Granlund in practice who aren't bad. The team should be able to be competitive most nights so I'm not too woried.

They've definitely looked a lot better but don't think they've actually outplayed a team. Get a few goals and hope Blackwood stands strong.
At least it's looking way better than even just a week ago, maybe they won't be historically bad. Couture/Barbie coming back eventually will definitely help as well.

not saying untouchable or even close but he’s looked really good and will hopefully be our guy for awhile. If he doesn’t get overplayed with SJ giving up a ton of shots and/or injured he should be really solid for the future.

great game cause they won but the team didn't look great and the defense is bad. really liked forwards like Duclair and Eklund, though.
Really hope Blackwood can stay consistent and healthy, he's been great so far.
Yeah I'd expect next year won't be great but hopefully better than this year (can't really be worse) and hopefully 25/26 season maybe the team can be decent

I personally can't even root for them to lose or a tank, but even if you are, this team needs a win now. Moral has to be completely in the toilet and something needs to go right.

Zetterlund/Labanc swap could make sense, it's just Labanc has more scoring potential and Zetterlund is an ideal 3rd line player. Don't think Labanc has been bad. I think Peterson's been better than Hoffman so far. Duclair on top line to hopefully get him going, we need him to be good, either to re-sign him or for a trade.

don't think these lines make sense
you have all shooters on the top line and all playmakers on the 2nd, better to mix them up, like switching Eklund/Duclair
Vlasic on the top pair doesn't make sense, should be the opposite
I don't think Smith goes in over Zetterlund, I think swap Zetterlund/Smith and send Smith down cause max is 23

yeah definitely expect it to be an older guy. Kunin to center and Labanc into the lineup could make sense, but I don't love Kunin at center. The organization might like it, though, as I think he was the center on pk1.

Agree w/ a lot of what you said...
Eklund needs a better shooter on his line. gave a lot of solid feeds to Kunin who couldn't even get his stick on the puck, let alone finish it. I actually didn't hate Kunin's game, though. Skill level might not have been there but effort was definitely there. First game back so hopefully he improves. Agree w/ Thrun/Bordeleau as well.
I don't think Duclair had a good game, though. Him and Barabanov on that line just weren't noticeable, Bordeleau might have been that line's best player. Zetterlund's compete looked really good, and I liked that he was just shooting and trying to get pucks on net. Really frustrating when guys take forever to look for the perfect chance and end up without even a shot.
Agree w/ Hoffman but didn't think Rutta was that bad. Not really noticeable, but for him, a defensive-defenseman, that's not that bad.
I thought Smith was good. High effort, especially on the forecheck, and just high pace and physicality. Exactly what I'd want on the 4th line.
I like your top line, but think Kunin needs to get bumped down. Will still get good toi on the 3rd line, but not top 6 (at least for now).
I would also keep Thrun w/ Rutta cause I just think Rutta is a lot better of a player and you want good players with Thrun to help him develop.
I would run ...
Eklund-Hertl-Zadina
Hoffman-Granlund-Barabanov
Duclair-Bordeleau-Kunin
Smith-Sturm-Zetterlund
Ferraro-Benning
Thrun-Rutta
Vlasic-Burroughs
Kahkonen

My Lines for Opening Night
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>I am 100% in agreement with your line combos! My only thought is I really feel like Eklund and Bordeleau together! They had chemestry! Same so far with Duclair and Barabanov and Hertl and Zadina. Mixing in Hoffman Granlund and Kunin to mix and match would be nice! It’s way easier once Couture comes back though.
The D I can’t agree more…. But I don’t see how you scratch Vlasic to start the season. (Though I want to!) Maybe after a handful of games, but last year he wasn’t bad so unless he regresses again this year I think Quinn is forced to play him. But to me Knyzhov Embersom and Thrun have to play this year! Thrun I have a feeling is a long term top 4 D for us but with Embersom and Knyzhov we have to see if they are guys you build with or move on from. Personally I feel Knyzhov is a better D than Vlasic and maybe even Ferraro and Embersom could be the best RD we have on the roster right now.
Next year I don’t see how Thrun and Mukhamadulin aren’t playing every night and if the sharks do anything in FA it would be to pick up a RD like Pesce. Or someone who is a top 4 with some offensive ability. So this is the year for Embersom and Knyzhov to shine or move on.
Still don’t know why we signed Burroughs to be honest especially to 3 year deal.</div></div>
I think Eklund and Bordeleau should be split up, though, at least to start. Both smaller guys trying to establish themselves, so maybe start with more veteran guys.
Don't think realistically Vlasic is scratched but I think it makes the most sense.
Don't hate the Burroughs signing. Maybe hard to find room, but he's a good bottom pair guy. Seems like a decent leader, plays well physically and defensively. Also can bury his full contract so really no downside.

really hard to see Bordeleau making it, he'll have to play really well given how many forwards there are, Kunin won't still be on IR
don't see it happening, but shipping a few forwards out before the season would be nice. Hoffman and Labanc are fine on 4th line, but then they'll have no trade value. Just hard to see two guys that you would move down to get them both in the top 9.

Rookie Faceoff so Far and Lines for Final Game
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Okposo_Lover</b></div><div>Honestly not a lot here im super excited about tbh. Bordeleau is good, Eklund needs no introduction then there are guys like Halttunen, Wiesblatt, Robins and Musty I think could be solid.
But Thrun... omg he could be special, man. He needs to be talked about more lol.
This team really needs a top right handed defensive prospect tho imo. Like a Levshunov would be awesome for this pool. Or even Mews with the Penguins 1st next year. SJS really needs like two more top prospects and to free up their cap and 3 or so years from now could be lethal</div></div>
what do you think Thrun’s upside is, though? I would say a really high-end 4th defenseman or a low-end 3rd defenseman who can be a really steady defensive presence and chip in offensively as well. A balanced two-way defenseman.
Yeah agreed, a top defensive prospect (right-shot preferably) is the main thing this team needs. A lot of cap space freeing up soon, I think 25/26 season is a good target date to be somewhat competitive.
