not sure rooney would really be worse than blais coming from an ACL surgery. definitely a better player but so much catching up to do, and the conference finals probably isn't the place to do it

if strome walks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>Chychrun is a ridiculous move for this team. If you’re gonna spend those assets at least get a center instead (one younger and better than Schmaltz). His faceoff stats are terrible. If the idea is to improve that might be a downgrade on Strome.</div></div>
Lindgren is really being propped up by Fox, who deserves a better partner. all those other pieces don't have spots on this team in the short or long term and their value isn't gonna get any higher.
This isn't to improve over strome, it's assuming some other team pays him 7+ mil a year and he walks. not saying schmaltz is better, though his faceoff % (45.8) is slightly better than strome (45.0)

(ANA/PIT) - Rakell for Aston-Reese, Simon, Clang, 2nd RD pick
this is a pretty fair deal imo, maybe tilted slightly for ANA. incredible deadline for the ducks. did exactly what they had to do, revamped the org with 4 expiring contracts. gg pv

gives us 4 solid lines so we're less top heavy, ideally hunt and nemeth get replaced but I don't think this is the year to sell the entire farm. plus, there's clearly strong chemistry with this team so don't wanna bring in kessel's just for the sake of it

Fleury Gone Already so lets get stuff done
NYR could get better than that with a 1st, and have plenty prospects to add. if they're moving the first it's gonna be part of a big trade, not a couple depth pieces that they can't afford next year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChytilMania</b></div><div>Looking at Pionk’s contract, DeAngelo will get 3mil +
3.25 is likely.
Lemiux will also get slightly more
The moves you made (Namestnikov trade, Smith buyout, and burying Beleskey) were good. But more will have to be done unfortunately.</div></div>
Pionk had arbitration rights and DeAngelo doesn't... EvolvingWild has him coming in around 2.3 on a 2 year deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aastorino1993</b></div><div>Going into this, you need to think about the performance bonuses. Those are counted towards the cap but its a soft count because whatever isn't spent in one year (or in this case, how much is not given out) will carry over into the next year. All performance bonuses have to be paid within the contract.</div></div>
No way all 5.7mil of that gets paid out, we would have to have all three calder candidates on our team basically. Next year we're gonna have a ton of space too so a little bit of overage wouldn't kill them

After signing Puljujarvi NYR will have basically broke even on salary in that trade, so I can't imagine them doing it. Shortens their list of potential cap clearing moves

Karlsson's cap hit will make it trickier though, better to not have him and sign someone cheaper. Agree on the return though, which is why I said they gotta replace Dahlen with a better player

Upgrade Dahlen and drop Karlsson and it could work imo. Taking on the full 4m of Names cap hit will make him cheaper, but NYR need to shed more salary than they are here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ashaw9377</b></div><div>Why don't you run Mark Stones numbers and compare them to Kreider. If I knew how to get that chart in this thread I would do it. Stone is superior in every single category. What was he traded for? Brannstrom, Lindberg, and a 2nd. And this was with an extension in place not for a pending UFA. Plus stone is younger.</div></div>
not to mention that was at the deadline when prices are higher. NYR don't have a ton of leverage in negotiations with other teams on Kreider right now... there's also not a ton of teams likely calling for him, ESPECIALLY since NYR need to shed salary with this trade and can't take a contract back.
I wouldn't love Bowers and a 1st but I wouldn't call it a bad deal. I think COL has the cap space to use for negotiating though, so I would counter with
Kreider + Smith (1mil retained) + 7th
for
Barberio + Bowers + 1st

yeah as an NYR fan I can assure you this guy insanely overvalues everyone on NYR. I do think Steen needs to be upgraded to a slightly better prospect but otherwise that looks like a deal I think NYR would take (and I would be fine with)
