Holl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gavinray</b></div><div>When Liljegren comes off LTIR there will be no cap space. Reports are that Toronto has been trying to move players to make space but hasn't been successful. Not many teams have the need or space to add a player like Holl.</div></div>
The easy choice is Engvall, the leafs need more D depth than forward. Engvall also clears enough cap for Liljegren AND Robertson to stay up without having to waive Malgin! Holl doesn't provide enough cap relief to do that.
Also keefe loves Holl, this is not happening.

Lines
There's really zero point in putting Jarnrok and Reese on their off side for no reason. Kubelle also hasn't played nearly good enough to get a third line promotion. Statistically ( regardless of Engvalls poor play) the third line has been the most dominant for the first 3 games.

Yeah, Leafs are not sending a depth player in HOLL ( who know's the leafs system well in case of injury) to a DIVISION rival for zero return. Give your head a shake bud.

Leafs New Line Combinations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MatthewsFan</b></div><div>Agree with most of this: the top line has not looked as effective as last year (20 shots for 15 against) they normally dominate which we have not seen yet but willing to give them a few more games before I’d consider splitting them up although no check in hell Keefe does lol.
Nylander has looked awesome but again same issues as always they are hardly wining at 5v5 play (21 shots for 18 against) Love Malgin but I’d be cool with and expect Robertson to take Denis out, at least for a few games. Would be great if he is the long term solution for him them but I’m not so sure yet.
Now the 3rd line as been the Leafs best 5v5 unit for the first 3 games. They look awesome and the stats show (16 shots for 3 against) They’ve dominated their ice time just need some shooting luck.
The 4th line has looked not good (4 shots for 12 against) I love the energy they bring but need to start winning more 5v5 play. This was a line I’d thought would dominate, haven’t seen it yet.</div></div>
I agree with most points, Nylander will most likely stay on the second line. I would imagine Malgin is the easy healthy scratch for Robertson to insert monday.
As for the 4th line, i'm not sure how i feel about reese yet. its almost like simmonds can provide the same skill set with more toughness and will fight.
We will see.

Edmonton has found the depth on forward but that D-core is still chalked. Not nearly where they need to be to make a deep run.

Opening day
Holl doesn't need to be moved. With the players waived and Lily on LTIR, The Leafs actually sit at 78k ABOVE the cap.
With Projected lines below
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Malgin - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kerfoot - Jarnrok
Reese - Kampf - Kubelle
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Sandin - Gio
IF Tavares is unfit to play then the leafs will have 11 forwards which makes them eligible for Emergency Call up ( Which would be Robertson filling the 12th forward spot)
They need to make ZERO moves now, they are cap compliant until Lily is healthy,

I've actually drawn up something exactly like this attaining Sheary. I just don't see Dubas parting ways with Kerfoot before Engvall. Kerfoot is more versatile and closer with the team off the ice.

Trades would definitely improve Buffalo. The Sabres are on the right track , although i still believe they are more than a few years off considering the Atlantic diviison is so strong.

Sandin will not settle for less than liljgren on a RFA deal. Kessel is not coming back to Toronto he hated it here. Our bottom six is pretty much set now. I’d say the obvious choice is Holl being moved and that 1.5-2 goes to Sandin.

I disagree, and if it is, it will be not much higher. They are valued the same and it's bad for team morale to pay more to a dman in the same role.

I think he is still a useful dman on a fair contract. Wouldn't be the worst deal for the ducks alongside the picks. We all know gibson is being shown around the league too right.

Strange how you make Engvall a LWer?</div></div>
Caps would 100% consider that with the propsect involved, and Engvall played off wing on RW ALOT last season.
