I was thinking OTTs D core could use another PP QB behind Chabot. They are currently using Del Zotto or Mete on the 2nd unit and it looks like Brannstrom kinda fell out of favour too so long term I thought that spot would be open. Maybe have Chabot, Girard, and Sanderson on the left side in the short term and if/when Sanderson is ready for top 4 minutes you could shift Girard over to the right side where he has played before

Same for Ottawa, Batherson has 6 years at 4.975 AAV

Agreed. Both guys are on great contracts long term

Not adding Alex Formenton and a 2nd to get a small LD at probably the only position they won't need to upgrade.

You could swap Formenton with someone else if needed, but in a Girard for Batherson deal I definitely think OTT should be adding. Same age and nearly identical contracts, but D men are worth more than wingers. Girard even as a D man had a higher P/GP than Batherson too

Heck they have a similar guy (not as dynamic, still unproven) that they don't even desire.

This. Girard is a better version of Brannstrom. They don't even play EB when they have him available. We can definitely be confident that they wouldn't trade 2 forwards that they are extremely high on for a Brannstrom upgrade.</div></div>

Girard is not just a better version of Brannstrom. One played 23+ minutes per game on the presidents trophy winning team and the other did not crack the NHL roster of a below average team. They may both be small and have offensive upside, but that's where the comparisons should stop. They are worlds apart
